11: Fame gained in the classroom, the overwhelming superiority of alchemy

For Yun Feng, the courses at Saint Orchid Academy were as simple as child's play.

Whether it was knowledge of Yao Beasts, Soul Power theory, or combat skills, everything seemed superficial and boring in the face of his Black Gold Rank Divine Soul foundation and the vast knowledge from the System.

Yet, he still appeared in class on time every day, playing the role of an ordinary new student who was "diligent and eager to learn" and "occasionally showed flashes of brilliance."

This day was the basic Alchemy class.

The instructor was an old, stern-faced instructor with white hair, Instructor Chen.

He had considerable mastery in Alchemy and was one of the few instructors in the academy capable of refining Silver Rank Medicinal Pills.

In class, Instructor Chen was explaining the refining method for one of the most basic Medicinal Pills – the qi recovery pill.

He explained it in detail, and the students below listened attentively, especially Nie Li, whose eyes were focused, seemingly verifying and contemplating it with his past life experiences.

...Therefore, the timing for adding the azure nether grass must be at the critical point where the Pill Furnace temperature reaches 'three parts intense heat, seven parts gentle heat'.

A moment too early, and the medicinal properties won't activate; a moment too late, and the essence will have dissipated," Instructor Chen stroked his beard, his gaze sweeping across the students below.

"This is one of the keys to the success or failure of refining the qi recovery pill; you all must remember it."

Most of the students nodded, burying their heads in their notes.

Only two had different expressions.

Nie Li was pensive, a hint of understanding on his lips.

And Yun Feng, however, slightly furrowed his brow, seemingly having a different opinion.

Instructor Chen noticed Yun Feng's expression; he recognized this Yun Family Disciple who had recently gained a bit of fame in the academy, rumored to have extremely good luck and some obscure knowledge.

He had always been rigorous and disliked students showing doubt in his area of expertise, so he called out in a deep voice: "Yun Feng, you seem to have a different view on what this instructor has taught?"

Instantly, all eyes focused on Yun Feng.

Nie Li also looked over curiously.

Yun Feng stood up, his face showing just the right amount of "panic" and "hesitation": "Instructor Chen, please forgive me, Disciple wouldn't dare.

It's just... Disciple once saw a description of the medicinal properties of azure nether grass in a damaged ancient text, which mentioned that this grass is 'Yin containing Yang'.

If it were added with the urgency of 'seven parts intense heat, three parts gentle heat', perhaps its inherent 'Yang essence' could be more thoroughly stimulated, maybe... maybe it could slightly increase the success rate and quality of the finished Medicinal Pill?"

His tone was uncertain, carrying a hint of exploratory discussion.

"Nonsense!" Instructor Chen's face darkened.

"The Dao of Alchemy, a hair's breadth difference leads to a thousand miles of error!

azure nether grass has cold Yin medicinal properties, how can it be attacked with fierce fire?

That ancient text of yours must be wrong!"

Upon hearing this, Nie Li's eyes flashed.

In his previous life, as a Peak Demon Spiritualist, his Alchemy attainments were extremely high.

Carefully replaying Yun Feng's words, combined with his own experience, he actually felt that there was some truth to it!

azure nether grass indeed contained a trace of extremely difficult-to-detect Yang essence; if it could be stimulated...

His gaze towards Yun Feng held even more profound meaning.

This boy is indeed not simple!

"Right or wrong, one try will tell." Yun Feng still maintained his respect, but his words carried a hint of persistence.

"Disciple is willing to refine it on the spot; please guide me, Instructor Chen."

"You?" Instructor Chen laughed in exasperation.

"Good!

I will see how you refine a qi recovery pill with this fallacy!

If you fail to refine it, or if the quality is inferior, I will punish you by cleaning the Pill Refining Room for a month!"

"What if Disciple luckily succeeds?" Yun Feng looked up, his gaze calm.

"If you can succeed, and the quality reaches the standard, I will admit that what you said is true and apologize to you!" Instructor Chen was also provoked.

"Disciple wouldn't dare accept an apology from an instructor." Yun Feng bowed slightly.

"If Disciple is lucky, I only ask for some convenience for self-study in future Alchemy classes."

"Granted!"

Soon, an ordinary Pill Furnace was brought up, and all the Materials were prepared.

Everyone held their breath, watching, including Ye Ziyun, Xiao Ning'er, and others who had rushed over to watch from outside the window.

Yun Feng walked to the Pill Furnace, his expression focused.

He did not use his own terrifying power, not even simulating Soul Power beyond Bronze One-star.

He relied purely on his essential understanding of medicinal properties and energy rules, which surpassed the comprehension of this world, as well as the almost "Dao"-level operational precision granted by the System.

Lighting the fire, preheating, adding the medicine...

His movements were fluid and natural, seemingly no different from the standard process, but at the moment the azure nether grass was added, his fingertips imperceptibly guided the fire, and the intensity of the Pill Furnace fire suddenly became fierce, exactly as he had said: "seven parts intense heat"!

Instructor Chen snorted, preparing to watch a joke unfold.

However, the next moment, what came from the Pill Furnace was not a burnt smell, but a richer, purer medicinal fragrance!

The medicinal fragrance was refreshing, subtly activating the Soul Power within everyone present.

Nie Li's eyes burst with brilliance!

It succeeded!

And judging by this medicinal fragrance, the quality was definitely extraordinary!

Yun Feng's technique was continuous, and the subsequent steps were still incredibly precise, but every detail seemed to contain deeper mysteries.

In the eyes of an expert like Nie Li, it was simply art!

A moment later, the Pill Furnace fire gradually extinguished.

Yun Feng patted the Pill Furnace lid, and three round, translucent Medicinal Pills, emitting a shimmering glow, flew into the jade bottle in his hand.

"Please appraise them, Instructor Chen." Yun Feng handed over the jade bottle.

Instructor Chen eagerly took it, poured out a Medicinal Pill, examined it carefully, then sniffed it.

His old face instantly flushed red, and his fingers trembled slightly.

"Pill patterns... Pill patterns actually appeared!

Perfect quality qi recovery pill!

This... how is this possible?!" He exclaimed in shock.

Perfect quality!

And it was the most basic Bronze Rank Medicinal Pill!

To what extreme degree of control over medicinal properties and heat would one need to achieve this?

Even he, refining ten batches of qi recovery pills, would be hard-pressed to produce one perfect quality Medicinal Pill!

Inside and outside the classroom, there was an uproar!

All the students stared at Yun Feng in dumbfounded amazement, as if looking at a monster.

Bronze One-star cultivation, yet refining a perfect quality qi recovery pill?

This could no longer be explained by luck!

Yun Qiao's small face was flushed with excitement, feeling honored.

Ye Ziyun and Xiao Ning'er's beautiful eyes also sparkled with brilliance.

Nie Li gazed deeply at Yun Feng, his heart surging with emotion.

He was almost certain now that this Yun Feng was absolutely no ordinary person!

Some of the concepts contained within his Alchemy techniques were even more profound and unfathomable than what he had seen during his Peak period in his previous life!

Instructor Chen's expression changed several times, finally letting out a long sigh.

He solemnly cupped his hands to Yun Feng: "Student Yun Feng, it was I who was narrow-minded and pedantic.

What you said is true; this method is indeed superior!

I... have learned a lesson!

From now on, you may arrange your Alchemy classes freely, and if you have any needs, you can come directly to me!"

A senior instructor publicly admitting his mistake to a new student and granting special privileges!

This was extremely rare in the history of Saint Orchid Academy!

Yun Feng quickly returned the Rei: "Instructor Chen, you humble Disciple too much.

Disciple merely stumbled upon the legacy of predecessors; it was pure luck."

The more humble he was, the more unfathomable he appeared in everyone's eyes.

After this incident, Yun Feng became thoroughly famous in Saint Orchid Academy!

The title of "Lucky Star" had not yet faded, and the halo of "Alchemy Prodigy" was firmly placed upon his head.

Even some high-ranking officials of the academy began to pay attention to this mysterious young man from the Yun Family.

After class, Nie Li proactively sought out Yun Feng.

"Brother Yun Feng, today truly opened my eyes." Nie Li said with a smile, his tone carrying sincere admiration and a subtle hint of inquiry.

"Brother Nie Li overpraises me; it's just a trivial skill, not worth mentioning." Yun Feng responded with a smile.

"I wonder what Brother Yun Feng's understanding of Yao Beasts is like?" Nie Li asked tentatively.

"I've had some thoughts recently about the Fusion of Yao Beasts; perhaps we could exchange ideas?"

Yun Feng's heart stirred, knowing that Nie Li was now truly beginning to treat him as someone with whom he could communicate on equal terms, or even someone worth probing.

He wanted to use this opportunity to delve deeper into Nie Li's growth trajectory.

"I know a little." Yun Feng nodded.

"If Brother Nie Li is interested, shall we find a quiet place to talk in detail?"

"That's exactly what I wanted!" Joy flashed in Nie Li's eyes.

The two exchanged a smile and walked side by side towards the quiet tree-lined path of the academy.

Yun Feng knew that he was gradually embedding himself into Nie Li's destiny as a "fellow Dao cultivator" and an "assistant."

And his System and strength would, in this process, secure greater benefits and a future for himself and the Yun Family.

The ripples in the academy were just the beginning.

A greater storm was quietly brewing on the outskirts of the City of Radiance, and between the unfathomable Dark Guild and the Sacred Aristocratic Family.

And the flapping wings of Yun Feng, this butterfly, had already begun to change the direction of the wind.
