176: The research community's first project and the challenges of a "rule translator"
The Research Community's First Project and the Difficulty of the "Rule Translator."
The nascent form of the "Cloud Court Research Community," catalyzed by the Golden Koi's astonishing "Bubble Thesis," finally took a historic step forward, despite its weak Foundation and significant communication barriers.
To consolidate this hard-won momentum of cooperation and to verify the feasibility of cross-civilization research, the Logic Federation and the Holy Land Alliance, after several stumbling "online consultations" (primarily transmitting encrypted information via the visitor network and shouting across space during "Cloud Studies Seminars"), decided to launch their first joint research project.
The project's goal directly targeted the biggest obstacle to their current cooperation—communication and understanding.
They planned to jointly develop an auxiliary tool that could, to a certain extent, translate between "scientific logic" and "mystical insight," temporarily named the "Rule Translator."
The Logic Federation was responsible for providing the underlying architecture and information processing technology.
They planned to use the "Basic dao rhyme access protocol V1.0," along with some universal rule models analyzed from the Koi Thesis, to construct a core framework capable of capturing, parsing, storing, and outputting rule information.
The Holy Land Alliance, on the other hand, was responsible for providing the "semantic library" and "contextual understanding."
They would compile descriptions of rules, Dao Rhyme, and Concept from various factional classics, as well as the ineffable "Fragments of the Dao" derived from the cultivation insights of their experts, attempting to map these onto the Federation's logical framework.
In the Early Stage of the project, both sides were full of confidence, believing that by leveraging the advantages of their respective Domains, overcoming this difficulty was imminent.
However, reality quickly delivered a heavy blow.

Federation scientists attempted to input an esoteric description of "Purple Qi from the East" provided by the Heavenly Secrets Pavilion—"Its Qi is dense and hazy, neither smoke nor mist, soaring ninety thousand miles high, containing the mechanism of generation and a sign of auspiciousness"—into the Translator framework for analysis.
The supercomputer ran for several hours, consuming massive computational power, and finally outputted a set of ridiculous results:
[Possibility 1: Unknown particle flow, velocity approximately 0.8 times the speed of light, complex composition, containing multiple excited-state energies, potentially inducing benign mutagenic effects on carbon-based life forms.]
[Possibility 2: Large-scale optical illusion, unknown cause, possibly related to localized spatial curvature changes.]
[Possibility 3: Low-dimensional manifestation of high-dimensional information projected onto three-dimensional space; specific meaning cannot be parsed.]
[Warning: Description contains a large number of subjective assumptions and non-logical vocabulary, such as 'auspiciousness' and 'mechanism of generation,' which cannot be quantified and have been ignored.]
When the Master of Heavenly Secrets Pavilion saw this result, his beard bristled with anger: "Absurd! This is blasphemy against the Great Dao! Purple Qi is born from the interaction of Heaven and Earth, containing supreme Dao Rhyme. How can it be summarized merely as a particle flow or an illusion? You metal shells fundamentally do not understand what 'Concept' is!"

It was the Holy Land Alliance's turn to try to understand a segment of mathematical models and experimental data concerning "quantum entanglement spooky action at a distance" provided by the Federation.
Several Elders skilled in mental sensing and spiritual deduction gathered around the data panel covered in complex symbols and formulas, closing their eyes and concentrating, attempting to "perceive" the Dao within using their own Dao Heart.
After a long while, one Elder opened his eyes, his brows tightly furrowed: "This old man only senses countless tiny particles, seemingly separating and merging, entangled endlessly.
Their speed surpasses lightning, and their principle... their principle seems to secretly align with my sect's technique of 'Karma Entanglement,' yet it is similar but not quite right, too... rigid and mechanical."
Another Elder shook his head: "No, no! In this old man's view, this is the Foundation for the Divine Ability of 'A single thought moves, and the ends of the earth are within reach'! It has merely been constrained of its spirituality by these tedious numbers you use!"
A third Elder was even more outrageous, immediately sitting down in meditation, claiming he would "comprehend an immortal transmission technique that ignores distance" from the data...
Logic Federation scientists, watching this scene via video link, all looked helpless.
Dr. Li rubbed his temples: "They completely ignored the rigor and verifiability of the mathematical model itself, only extracting the vague Concepts they wanted to see and that fit their own cognitive framework.
Such 'insights' are meaningless for us to perfect the Translator."
The first joint attempt failed amidst the awkwardness of mutual incomprehension and recriminations.
The "Rule Translator" project reached a stalemate.
Both sides realized the problem was far more complex and profound than they had imagined.
This was not just a language barrier, but a huge chasm between two fundamentally different worldviews, epistemologies, and methodologies.
Science pursues objectivity, precision, and repeatability, while mysticism (or cultivation insight) emphasizes subjectivity, holism, Concept, and the ineffable.
The Logic Federation found the Holy Land Alliance's descriptions too vague and subjective, lacking a logical Foundation; the Holy Land Alliance, conversely, believed the Logic Federation's framework was rigid and inflexible, unable to capture the dynamism and essence of the Great Dao.
Just as the project team was at a loss, even beginning to doubt the feasibility of their collaboration, a turning point appeared once again in the Cloud Court pond.
The Golden Koi seemed greatly interested in the latest batch of interaction crystals sent by the Logic Federation, which encapsulated the "Theory and Application of Cross-Modal Information Fusion."
It was no longer satisfied with simple analysis, but began attempting a new "game."
It first spat out a "Concept Bubble" containing its own insight into the rules of the pond's water flow, then used another bubble to envelop an interaction crystal, controlling the two bubbles to slowly approach and touch.
The moment the Concept Bubble touched the interaction crystal, a marvelous interference occurred!
The theory of cross-modal information Fusion within the crystal seemed to be "activated" and "interpreted" by the rule information contained in the Concept Bubble, spontaneously beginning to adjust its internal information structure, attempting to "match" and "describe" that Concept!
Simultaneously, the Concept Bubble was influenced by the logical framework inside the crystal; its originally vague rule insights began to display a more ordered structure, faintly even possessing a hint of mathematical beauty!
The two bubbles slowly underwent Fusion in a dynamic, mutually adaptive process, finally forming a brand-new "Composite Information Bubble" that both retained the essence of the Concept and possessed a clear logical skeleton!
This bubble seemed to be the ideal prototype for the "Rule Translator"—it successfully achieved a preliminary Fusion and translation between a profound "Concept" and rigorous "Logic"!
Long Qianyuan, who had always kept a wisp of Divine Sense focused on the pond, captured this change immediately.
His eyes lit up, and he instantly transmitted the form of this "Composite Information Bubble" and its peculiar Fusion state via Divine Thought to the project teams of the Logic Federation and the Holy Land Alliance separately.
"Stop arguing! Look at how my fish plays!" Long Qianyuan's voice resonated in the minds of both parties' leaders.
"Concept is water, Logic is the container.
Water alone will spill, and a container alone is empty! You must let them find a way to coexist on their own!"
The leaders of the Logic Federation and the Holy Land Alliance, looking at the model of the "Composite Information Bubble" containing that miraculous balance, transmitted by Long Qianyuan, felt as if they had been enlightened!
They had been trying to forcibly "translate" the other side using their own framework, forgetting that true "translation" should be the natural Fusion and adaptation of the two systems under some higher-level rule!
"We were wrong!" Dr. Li suddenly stood up.
"We shouldn't try to establish a rigid set of conversion rules, but rather design a 'reaction environment' that allows the two types of information to interact autonomously and adapt to each other!"
"Director Long is absolutely right!" The Master of Heavenly Secrets Pavilion also realized suddenly.
"The Great Dao is simple, yet it encompasses all things! We were too fixated on sectarian views, confining ourselves unnecessarily!"
The "Rule Translator" project team immediately adjusted its research direction.
They no longer pursued perfect, instantaneous translation, but instead began attempting to construct a dynamic, open "Information Fusion Platform" that simulated the formation process of that "Composite Information Bubble."
The Logic Federation was responsible for providing stable and reliable "Logic Containers" and interaction protocols, while the Holy Land Alliance was responsible for injecting the pure and spiritual "Water of Concept," relying on their insight capabilities to guide and adjust the Fusion process.
Although the road ahead was still long, this time, they had finally found the correct direction.
And the one guiding their direction was still the Golden Koi, which seemed naive but always provided a "divine assist" at crucial moments.
Inside the Star Gazing Hall, Yun Feng, sensing that the Research Community had found a new path after experiencing setbacks, nodded slightly.
"Only by breaking down and rebuilding can the truth be revealed."
His gaze fell upon the pond, where the Koi was curiously examining the "Composite Information Bubble" it had created, seemingly finding this new toy much more interesting than a standalone interaction crystal or Concept Bubble.
"However, how far this path of Fusion can go still depends on their own destiny."
Inside and outside the Cloud Court, the exploration surrounding "understanding" and "communication," guided inadvertently by a Koi, entered a deeper and more fundamental level.
A true "Research Community" seemed to be quietly solidifying its Foundation through this failed attempt and subsequent enlightenment.
