11: Chapter 11 Entering the Trap Unintentionally, The Death Contract in the Dark

The next day, Zhang Cheng became the "King of Troublemakers" in the eyes of the overseers.

He wasn't just slacking off; he wasn't working at all!

While others were making phone calls to scam people, he was holding the receiver telling jokes to the person on the other end; while others were running "pig-butchering" scams on computers, he was drawing floor plans of the compound in Notepad.

When the overseers scolded him, he met them with a smile; when they hit him, he skillfully deflected the force, screaming more piteously than anyone else, yet suffering no real injuries.

This "slippery rogue" behavior finally infuriated the management.

"Damn it! Is this kid brain-dead?" Scarface watched the surveillance in his office, so angry he smashed the ashtray. "Or is he really some tough nut? Does he need to see the coffin before he sheds a tear?"

Zhao Lei added fuel to the fire from the side: "Brother Scarface, I think this kid just needs a lesson! That look in his eyes sometimes gives me the creeps. Keeping someone like this is a liability, why don't we..."

"Killing him is too easy." Scarface smiled sinisterly. "And we're short on hands right now. This kid has a good look and a sharp mind; if tamed, he'd be a good dog. Since ordinary methods don't work, let's serve him the 'main course'!"

"Throw him in the dark room! That concrete box only one meter square where you can't stand up or lie down! No food or water for three days! I want to see if he can still smile then!"

"Understood!" Zhao Lei rushed out with a cruel grin.

A few minutes later, Zhang Cheng was hoisted from his workstation by two burly men and dragged toward the deepest part of the compound.

He didn't resist; he even gave Li Lanzhi a look to "rest easy" as he passed her. This made Li Lanzhi even more desperate—had this man truly gone mad?

"Get in there!"

With a roar of anger, Zhang Cheng was violently shoved into a narrow, dark space.

Clang!

The heavy iron door slammed shut, the sound of the bolt turning like the sinister laugh of a reaper.

The so-called "dark room" was actually a concrete hole carved into the wall. It was less than 1.5 meters high and less than a meter wide. Inside, it was pitch black, the air was stiflingly heavy, and there were even scratches and bloodstains left by predecessors on the walls.

In such absolute darkness and confinement, an ordinary person would suffer a mental breakdown in just a few hours.

But as Zhang Cheng sat on the floor, not only was there no fear, but he let out a long sigh of relief.

"Finally... some peace and quiet."

This was the moment he had been waiting for!

Zhang Cheng snapped his eyes open; in the darkness, his eyes were terrifyingly bright. He quickly sat cross-legged, his previously listless aura vanishing instantly.

"System, start spending!"

Zhang Cheng's voice was low and powerful, carrying a long-suppressed fanaticism. This was the wealth he had accumulated over ten days; now, it was time to show his true power.

[Point Balance: 14,180.]

"Exchange: 500 Junior Death Soldiers! (Consumes 5,000 points)" "Deployment location: The primeval jungle 500 meters outside the compound, in a circular perimeter! All Death Soldiers assemble on the spot and maintain silence!"

The numbers in the point column instantly dropped by 5,000. Zhang Cheng felt his heart race, a sense of unprecedented control flooding his body.

"Equipment exchange! I want them armed to the teeth!"

"500 AK-47 assault rifles (including 5 basic loads of ammunition), 500 points." "50 RPG-7 rocket launchers (including 100 high-explosive rounds), 250 points." "20 60mm mortars (including 200 shells), 200 points." "Night vision goggles, C4 explosives, grenades, bulletproof vests, military knives, and other full sets of equipment, 550 points..."

As a series of commands were issued, the points were rapidly consumed, finally stopping at 7,680.

In the darkness, Zhang Cheng seemed to see a thousand-man army—completely loyal to him, armed to the teeth, and expressionless—silently assembling in the dense primeval jungle outside the compound.

[Command confirmed. Death God Legion assembly complete, standing by in silence.]

Zhang Cheng leaned against the cold concrete wall, an extremely dangerous smile appearing on his lips.

"This is the 'surprise' I've prepared for you all."

"Connect to the frontline commander—Codename 'Old K'."

Old K was a high-level Death Soldier he had exchanged for 1,000 points. With the template of a former special operations commander, he possessed extremely high tactical literacy and command ability, serving as the field commander for this legion of Death Soldiers.

"Sovereign, the Death Squad is all in position."

A cold, steady voice, sounding like metal grinding against metal, rang out directly in Zhang Cheng's mind.

"Report equipment status."

"First Echelon (Assault Group), 200 men. Equipped with AK-47 assault rifles, 150 rounds per person, and 4 fragmentation grenades. Mission: Frontal assault, breach the perimeter, and draw fire."

"Second Echelon (Support/Demolition Group), 150 men. Equipped with AK-47s, ten 60mm mortars, twenty RPG-7 rocket launchers, and various C4 explosives. Mission: Take out guard towers and heavy machine gun nests, and destroy the generator room and perimeter walls."

"Third Echelon (Decapitation/Search and Rescue Group), 150 men. All personnel equipped with bulletproof vests, night vision goggles, and tactical knives. Led personally by Old K. Mission: Infiltrate from the back mountain during the chaos, strike directly at the core office building, neutralize the leaders, and rescue the 'piglets'."

Old K's report was concise and clear, every word reeking of gunpowder.

How was this some ragtag militia? This was clearly a special operations configuration for an augmented battalion!

Looking at the flashing red dots on the map, killing intent boiled in Zhang Cheng's eyes.

"Very good."

"Listen, Old K. For this operation, I have three principles."

"First, speed! The battle must be finished within twenty minutes. I want these scumbags to not even be able to make a distress call!"

"Second, ruthlessness! For anyone holding a weapon or attempting to resist—whether they are security, thugs, or so-called management—kill them all without exception! No prisoners needed, only corpses!"

"Third, precision! Leave Scarface, Zhao Lei, and that Lin Weiwei alive. I want them to see with their own eyes how the kingdom they take pride in crumbles!"

"Understood?"

"Understood! For the glory of the Sovereign, Death shall descend!" Old K's voice held a bloodthirsty fanaticism.

Zhang Cheng cut the communication.

Darkness enveloped him once again, but he seemed to see a grand display of fireworks about to bloom before his eyes.

He leaned against the cold concrete wall, fingers lightly tapping his knee, silently counting down in his heart.

It was six o'clock in the evening.

Six hours remained until midnight.

That was when the devil's carnival would end, and the Reaper's harvest would begin.

"Scarface, enjoy your last supper."

A cruel arc curled at the corner of Zhang Cheng's mouth.
