12: Chapter 12 Thunderous Appearance and Collapse

Midnight, exactly 12:00 AM.

Nights in the tropical rainforest were always exceptionally humid and stifling. The chirping of insects rose and fell, masking the faint, unusual chill of slaughter deep within the jungle.

Inside Feifan Park, most areas were submerged in sleep, save for a few searchlights tirelessly sweeping the grounds. The office building remained brightly lit, where the night-shift 'piglets' were still being forced to carry out fraudulent activities.

Up on a watchtower, two guards leaned against a heavy machine gun, smoking and bragging.

“Hey, I heard Brother Scarface brought in some new stock today? One of the chicks is really good-looking.”

“Forget it, those are reserved for the big boss. You think you'll get a turn? We can only talk... huh?”

Before the guard could finish, he suddenly felt a chill between his eyebrows, as if he had been bitten by a mosquito.

“Pfft!”

An extremely faint muffled sound, like a champagne cork popping.

The guard's head snapped back violently, and a spray of blood erupted from the back of his skull. Without even a groan, he slumped limply beside the machine gun.

The other guard hadn't even reacted before he saw a bloody hole appear in his companion's head. Just as he opened his mouth to scream, another bullet accurately pierced his throat.

A kilometer away, at the edge of the jungle.

A Death Soldier sniper calmly pulled the bolt, ejecting a scalding shell casing.

“Sentry posts one and two cleared.”

That gunshot was like the first falling domino.

The next second.

“Swoosh—swoosh—swoosh—!”

Several rockets and mortar shells with trailing flames tore through the deathly silent night sky, crashing fiercely into the park with sharp whistles!

“Boom! Boom! Boom!”

Violent explosions instantly tore the curtain of night asunder!

The first shell accurately hit the generator room at the back of the park. Accompanied by a dull roar, the transformer exploded, and flames shot into the sky.

“Zzzzt—”

The lights across the entire park flickered and then went out instantly!

The once brightly lit city of sin plunged into a terrifying darkness in an instant. Only the fires triggered by the explosions stood out, piercingly bright in the dark.

“Enemy attack! Enemy attack!”

“What’s going on?! A power outage?!”

“Ah—! Bombs! It’s bombs!”

The park instantly turned into a chaotic mess. Panicked thugs swung flashlights around wildly, scurrying like headless flies.

Just then, the sound of tooth-grinding metal twisting came from the direction of the main gate.

“Boom!”

The sturdy iron gate was blown off by a directional charge in a loud explosion. The multi-ton iron gate panel flew over ten meters like a sheet of paper, flattening two guards who couldn't dodge in time into meat paste.

In the smoke and dust, countless dark shadows flooded in like a bursting dam.

They wore uniform black combat gear and infrared night-vision goggles, their AK-47s spitting lethal tongues of fire.

In the darkness, the Death Soldier legion equipped with night-vision goggles were like a group of cheating Reapers! Meanwhile, the park thugs with only flashlights were nothing more than sitting ducks!

“Da-da-da-da—!”

Dense gunfire echoed through the skies.

The first echelon of Death Soldiers moved in groups of three, providing alternating cover and advancing rapidly with standard special forces tactical movements.

“One o'clock direction, three targets, cleared!”

“Second-floor window, machine gun nest, RPG!”

“Boom!”

A rocket with a long tail of flame flew into the second-floor window, blowing the machine gunner who was trying to fight back into pieces along with his weapon.

It was a completely lopsided massacre.

The thugs in this park were fine when bullying unarmed 'piglets,' but when faced with this kind of well-trained, well-equipped, regular-army-level strike, their morale collapsed instantly.

“Hold the line! Everyone fucking hold the line!”

The security supervisor, Scarface, was jolted awake from his dalliance by the explosions. He rushed out while pulling up his pants, waving a pistol and roaring, “I'll shoot anyone who dares to retreat! There aren't many of them!”

Before his voice could fade, a bullet grazed his scalp and sliced off one of his ears.

“Ah—!”

Scarface screamed in agony, clutching his blood-covered head as he rolled on the ground. His previous arrogance instantly turned into a pathetic scramble to escape. “Retreat! Quickly retreat! To the office building! It has bulletproof glass! Hold the stairwells!”

Meanwhile, inside the office building.

The 'piglets' who were originally 'working' were scared witless by the sudden turn of events.

In the darkness, women's screams and the sound of overturning tables and chairs blended together.

“Don’t run around! Everyone get down!” Although Li Lanzhi was also afraid, she instinctively felt that this might be their only chance. She shouted loudly, trying to calm the people around her.

“Bang! Bang!”

Several guards rushed in with guns, firing randomly at the ceiling: “Nobody fucking move! I'll kill anyone who moves! Get to the windows! Block them for me!”

These insane beasts actually intended to use these innocent people as human shields!

However, before they could drive the people to the windows, the glass of the back window suddenly shattered with a crash.

Several black spheres rolled inside.

“Flashbang! Close your eyes!”

“Whirr—!”

Intense white light instantly filled the entire room, followed by a deafening explosion.

The guards clutched their eyes and fell to the ground screaming.

A second later, several ghost-like figures burst through the windows.

“Pfft! Pfft! Pfft!”

Several muffled gunshots from suppressed weapons rang out.

The guards' screams came to an abrupt halt.

The lights came back on (the backup power had been connected by the Death Soldiers).

The piglets opened their eyes in terror, seeing a group of fully armed warriors with camouflage paint on their faces.

The leader was a tall man with a cold gaze, a smoking rifle slung across his chest.

It was none other than Old K.

He scanned the trembling crowd, and while his voice wasn't loud, it carried a power that set people at ease:

“We are here to save you.”

“Who is Li Lanzhi?”

In the corner, Li Lanzhi tremblingly raised her hand.

Old K nodded and spoke into his earpiece: “Sovereign, target number three confirmed safe. Core area under control.”

At this moment, in the dark room.

The sound of gunfire and artillery outside made the wall plaster fall in flakes, but Zhang Cheng smiled.

He heard it.

The distinct, crisp sound of AK-47s, the roar of RPG explosions—the sound of evil collapsing.

“It seems my Reapers have arrived.”

He stood up and stretched his somewhat stiff neck.

“Clang!”

The iron door of the dark room was violently pulled open.

A Death Soldier, smelling of blood, stood at the door and respectfully handed over a polished pistol and a bulletproof vest.

“Sovereign, the outside has been swept clean.”

“Scarface and Zhao Lei are cornered in the third-floor conference room; there is no escape for them.”

Zhang Cheng took the gun and strode out of the cage that had confined him.

The air outside was thick with the smell of gunpowder and blood, but to Zhang Cheng, it smelled of freedom and revenge.

He looked at the park in the distance, where flames soared into the sky, his gaze like a blade.

“Let’s go meet our old friends.”
