372: remember

Under the ruins.

Among the rubble.

The Darkness here, compared to the night sky, carried a heavier, suffocating sense of oppression.

"Ding ding ding ~"

The woman's fingers, blurred by sand, stone, and blood, weakly rested on the telephone screen.

The telephone, emitting a faint sound, had already dialed a call.

Mei Mei didn't know who she had called; she didn't have the strength to open her Eyes, nor the power to dial the next telephone call.

This call was her only ray of hope.

"Tap ~"

A light sound.

The sound representing hope abruptly stopped!

The other party hung up!

The light from the telephone screen, accompanied by a few sparks, completely extinguished.

It was as if the tangible despair revealed its long-suppressed claws, annihilating everything.

"Is there no way? Am I destined to die? It's all destined..."

"I'm sorry."

Among the sand and stone, Mei Mei felt the broken body behind her; a memory erased by some power resurfaced in her mind during this final moment.

Her Eyes closed weakly, and two streams of tears fell into a patch of murky dust.

...

One day ago.

Rehearsal hall.

Elegant singing emanated from the throat of the woman on stage, dressed in an evening gown and fully immersed.

Below the stage, A Man calmly appreciated all of this.

After finishing a song, the woman also noticed the audience quietly watching below the stage.

It was still a rehearsal; for this A Man to be here and be the only audience member, he must be someone with some kind of backing capital.

However, none of this mattered to Mei Mei.

As long as it didn't affect her.

"Mei Mei, two people are looking for you; they've been waiting in the office for a long time."

While tidying herself up backstage, the agent reminded the woman.

"What exactly is it?" Mei Mei was touching up her makeup in the mirror.

She had met many people who expressed a desire to see her for various reasons.

Most of the time, she would just have the agent turn them down.

"They're here to give you money." The agent explained the matter with a slightly strange tone.

Upon hearing this, Mei Mei was amused: "I should go meet them, after all, they've waited for so long."

Straightening her clothes, Mei Mei's slender legs stood straight.

"Oh, there's someone else who wants to see you too," the agent added. "It's the only audience member below the stage."

"I heard he's the heir to a billion-dollar company from abroad, and they're also sponsoring this concert of ours."

Hearing this, Mei Mei frowned: "Perhaps it's better if I don't meet people like that."

Rich second-generation, wealthy.

Having clawed her way to her current position, she had always kept her distance from people in the industry bearing these two titles.

"Okay, I'll have someone persuade him to leave." The agent didn't say much; she had done this kind of refusing for Mei Mei too many times.

Nodding, Mei Mei went to the office to meet Bai Shi and Xiao Hai.

Twenty minutes later.

Mei Mei left the office with a hint of a helpless smile at the corner of her mouth.

After changing into her casual clothes, guided by her agent, she walked towards the outside of the concert hall.

Most of the lights in the concert hall were already turned off.

As she walked towards the exit, Mei Mei caught sight of another figure still inside.

"Didn't I ask you to persuade him to leave?" The woman recognized at a glance that this guy was the audience member who had watched her rehearse all afternoon.

"We tried persuading him, but he wanted to stay a bit longer," the agent whispered.

Mei Mei's beautiful Eyes flickered slightly; in the dim hall, that A Man was like an forgotten member in a corner of the World.

Her figure moved slowly forward, accompanied by the sound of her heels hitting the ground.

She walked all the way to the A Man's side, separated by the seats in the aisle.

"Mr., you wanted to see me?" Mei Mei turned her head to look at this A Man with an Eastern face.

The A Man's first sentence caused Mei Mei's polite, faint smile to stiffen: "You are going to die, do you know that?"

"Mr., that's not a funny joke." Mei Mei's thoughts were drawn to the two people she had just met in the office: "Are you with the two people who just saw me?"

"Probably, they both have Eastern faces." Mei Mei was a little angry: "I'm sorry, Mr., I've already made my intentions very clear to those two in the office just now."

"I don't have the time or the mood to listen to your uncomfortable words."

Mei Mei shook her head and got up from her seat.

"I'm not with those two; they want you dead, I hope you live." The A Man's voice from beside her made Mei Mei stop in her tracks.

"Why do you all think I'm going to die?" Mei Mei spread her hands, finding it hard to understand: "Do I have some terminal illness? Or is someone trying to kill me?"

"Or... is it some plan you have against me?"

Speaking of this, Mei Mei looked at Sun Changhe before her with intense vigilance in her Eyes.

"Do you believe that death is destined?" Sun Changhe turned his head and spoke.

Seeing that the woman did not speak, he casually took out his telephone.

"You should get to know the person named Bai Shi whom you just met again."

"He is a funeral streamer..."

With the woman remaining silent and looking half-believing, half-doubting, Sun Changhe reintroduced Bai Shi to her.

"People he follows all encounter fatal threats within the following three days? Now, the attention has fallen on me?" Chewing on this sentence, Mei Mei's Eyes were strange: "Is this a horror story?"

"You want me to believe that there are supernatural powers in this World?"

Hearing this, Sun Changhe understood that this woman still didn't believe him.

A cold light flashed, and a chilling dagger appeared in his hand: "Exactly, I want to make you believe in supernatural powers."

"A knife?" Seeing this object and then looking at Sun Changhe before her, Mei Mei stepped back in fear: "What do you want to do?!"

Amidst her startled cry, over a dozen bodyguards and the agent quickly rushed forward, shielding Mei Mei behind them.

However, just when everyone thought Sun Changhe wouldn't act rashly, a burly bodyguard in front was directly grabbed by the neck by him, held in front of him like a chicken!

"Damn it! Let him go!"

"Mr., let's talk properly about whatever it is, please don't hurt anyone!"

Behind the crowd, the agent quickly checked Mei Mei's condition: "Are you okay? Are you not injured?"

"I'm fine, but he..."

Mei Mei pointed towards the bodyguard held by Sun Changhe.

"He won't act rashly, our bodyguards already have guns pointed at him," the agent reassured.

"Puchi!"

The chillingly cold dagger, just after the agent's voice fell, was directly plunged by Sun Changhe into the abdomen of the bodyguard in front of him!

Blood splattered!

The restrained bodyguard groaned in pain, his Eyes rolling White.

"System, use Healing spell."

Just as everyone's nerves were taut, and some were even preparing to risk shooting, a cluster of green light, like an elf, jumped and slowly converged towards the wound in the bodyguard's abdomen where the dagger had been thrust!

Visible to the naked Eye, amidst the green light's embellishment, the wound in the bodyguard's abdomen healed at an astonishing speed, frantically!

In less than half a minute, the wound in this bodyguard's abdomen completely disappeared, as if it had never existed!

"Now, do you believe that there are supernatural powers in this World?" Sun Changhe's gaze passed through the stunned crowd and fell upon Mei Mei at the very back.
