856: Key, the unknown hour

Open the door, and Mo De saw his Lin Yue's wife busy in the living room, preparing breakfast.

This scene made him feel a little unnatural.

Although he already knew that his Lin Yue's wife was not his family, the other party still hadn't disappeared.

She still lived in this family according to her trajectory.

This feeling, for Mo De, was like a dagger already drawn from its sheath placed on his daily path.

He knew how to avoid the other party, and it was only avoidance.

Mo De had no way to move her away.

According to the rules, after midnight every night, the entire house outside the room was his restricted area.

And the origin of this restricted area, he thought, was that during that time, this woman would wander in the house.

Perhaps only when he unraveled the cause of his Lin Yue's wife's death would the other party truly leave.

Mo De roughly had a direction in his heart.

"Dear, you're awake? Come quickly and eat breakfast!" The woman preparing breakfast also noticed Mo De, showing the attitude of a Lin Yue's wife, and urged him.

Regarding everything that happened yesterday, this woman seemed to have no memory at all.

She was like a program, fulfilling the things she should do in the position she was in.

"Today is quite busy, I'll take the breakfast to eat on the way." Mo De walked out of the door, holding a stack of materials sorted out from the room, and replied casually to the woman.

"Then remember to finish it." The woman handed the packed breakfast to Mo De.

Looking at the contents of the meal box, Mo De's eyes flickered.

Still sandwiches...

After walking out of the courtyard and getting into the car, Mo De looked at his watch.

6:30

It was this time, but there was no sound of Corey from the walkie-talkie.

It seemed his questioning yesterday had created some distance in Corey's heart towards him, or rather... panic? Afraid to face himself?

Mo De couldn't help but think this way.

After seeing the death replay of that Pu Yinghao, Mo De already understood that the key to the matter was concentrated on Corey!

This guy was very likely the real culprit of the dismemberment case!

Although the information clearly stated that Corey and Bosen had no connection or enmity, there was no motive for the crime.

But putting aside the motive, all other evidence pointed to him!

Perhaps before committing the crime, he had already deliberately created a mindset for everyone that he and Bosen would not become enemies, and committing the crime under such circumstances, the probability of himself not being suspected was extremely high.

No one thought he was the murderer, so this was a perfect crime!

However.

Everything still needed to be investigated in depth.

Because in Mo De's opinion, Old Tang Na's side was really a huge loophole.

If Corey's mind was really that meticulous, knowing how to create the illusion for the public that he and Bosen would have no connection, then it was impossible for him not to consider that Old Tang Na would expose him!

The vehicle started.

Mo De's gaze retracted from the walkie-talkie in the car, and while thinking of something, he fumbled in his pocket.

A key appeared in his hand.

Yesterday, this key couldn't open the police station door, and the style of the house door key was completely different from this key, which ruled out this key being used to open a lock in the house.

So what was this key for?

Why did the original owner have such a key?

Before, Mo De just casually reached into his pocket and got it, and the key was still clean, only showing some wear from years of stacking, which meant that the original self frequently used this key!

But throughout this time, Mo De couldn't find a place that matched this key at all.

"Could it be a key to open a storage box or cabinet or something?" Muttering to himself, while Mo De felt some doubt, he opened the Town map in the car.

There was a key-cutting shop in the Town, perhaps he knew something.

"Then let's go and ask first." Mo De didn't hesitate.

He didn't plan to return to the police station immediately.

He had already been there yesterday, and knew almost all the information he should know.

At this time, he should go elsewhere to look for a Breakthrough.

Of course.

A key point was that Mo De did not plan to meet Corey immediately now.

For such a suspect who was very likely the murderer, he needed to keep his distance.

And regarding Corey, he had another direction of investigation...

The pace of life in the Town was very slow.

However, there were quite a few early risers.

When Mo De came to the only locksmith in the Town, the other party was already up and tinkering with a lock in the shop.

"Buckle." Mo De got out of the car, saw the other party, and stood at the door calling out loudly.

"Sheriff Mode?" The A Man tinkering with the lock showed a look of surprise: "Sheriff, why have you come?"

"Nothing, just came to ask something." Mo De waved his hand as if not caring, and at the same time took out the key from his pocket: "Do you recognize what kind of lock this key matches?"

"This key?" The locksmith Buckle recognized it with just one look: "This is an old style."

"The key should match a Bicher lock produced eight or nine years ago."

"Bicher lock?"

"Yes, a brand that was very popular before, but it went out of business because the quality was too good." The locksmith said this, then immediately walked towards the shop: "Speaking of which, I still have one of these old locks here."

After speaking, the locksmith rummaged around inside.

Then a large lock the size of a palm was taken out by him.

"Sheriff Mode, look, your key should be matched with this style of lock." The locksmith's voice was certain.

And looking at the large lock the other party took out, Mo De's eyes flickered.

Such a large lock absolutely couldn't be used to lock boxes and cabinets.

At least it was the lock for a Warehouse or a house door!

Did the original self still have another house outside?

This thought flashed, but was deeply rooted in his mind!

That's right.

He drove to work at 6:30 every day, but it wasn't him who opened the police station door.

This showed that his arrival time at the police station was later than Corey, who started work around 7:30!

So where did he go during the one hour between 6:30 and 7:30?

Behind this key, it seemed to represent an unknown hour!

...

Leaving the locksmith shop.

While Mo De was driving, more attention was on the key in his hand.

He seemed to have seen the key, but wanting to reveal more, he was stuck in a Bottleneck.

Opening the Town map.

Mo De's gaze scanned it, trying to find something different.

The entire Town was not large; apart from the commercial street near the police station, the residents in other parts of the Town seemed very scattered.

Just relying on a map, he couldn't see any other information at all.

Rubbing his brows, Mo De let out a breath of stale air: "Forget it, let's go to Bertha's place first and see the situation."

Regarding the matter of the key, he had already taken a step forward.

It only took him a little over ten minutes to understand the appearance of the lock matched with the key and deduce the abnormality in his original self's behavior; this was already very good progress.

The vehicle drove on the Town roads, emitting exhaust smoke.

Mo De's direction at this moment was towards the edge of the Town, looking for a person.

Bertha.

This woman was an orphan in the Town with no parents, she was very beautiful, and also Corey's secret crush, and definitely the only person Corey cared about.

Regarding Corey's other direction of investigation, this was what Mo De was referring to.

Yesterday, Mo De would have thought that perhaps the murderer had kidnapped Bertha, making Corey dare not act rashly, and thus he didn't reveal a single truth when facing him.

Then today.

Learning that the Gu bone-chopping knife, that murder weapon, was actually taken by Corey.

Mo De's idea had changed to: Corey himself was the murderer, which was why he didn't confess!

And actually, these two ideas, no matter which one, didn't prevent him from going to find Bertha now.

With these things happening to Corey, Mo De didn't think Bertha was unaffected at all.

Investigating a suspect by starting the investigation from the person he cares about is a correct direction!
