449: The Insects of the End of the World

If one day, the City is covered by countless creeping vines, weeds, trees, and other plants, what would that signify?

It would signify the abandonment of the City…

What would it signify if a City's buildings were shattered, vehicles were overturned everywhere, and corpses lay strewn on the ground?

It would signify the loss of control and the fall of the City.

What about a combination of these two situations?

The scene of the apocalypse, like a tattered painting, slowly unfolded over three months across a 1:1 scale map of the World.

Location: Rong City.

Crowded, cramped, and foul-smelling.

This was an underground subway station.

Dozens of Humans, clutching their stomachs, greasy and blackened, huddled in the corners, like cockroaches in the shadows, challenging the limits of life.

Among these dozens of Humans, there were men, women, the old, and the young.

They were the survivors from the vicinity.

They had thought that by gathering together, they could deal with the Zombies and carve out a path to survival!

But reality was cruel.

After gathering, one person starving turned into a group of people starving.

And compared to being alone, the hungry, wolf-like gazes the people in the crowd cast towards their own kind also conveyed signals of danger.

"Ah!"

Just then, a girl in the crowd screamed in fright.

Only to see.

A Man, with a greasy large hand, was tightly gripping the girl's delicate arm, trying to pull her into his embrace.

Seeing this scene, the people huddled around frowned.

And a White-Haired Old Man in the crowd strode towards them.

"Slap!"

A slap, however, landed on the girl's face.

"What are you screaming for?!

Do you want to attract the Zombies?!"

The White-Haired Old Man lowered his voice, staring fiercely at the girl.

With five bright red finger marks appearing on her face, the girl's eyes welled up with tears, and she bit her lip, trying to pull her hand away from the A Man beside her.

But the Middle-aged Man didn't let go at all, his mouth spread into a possessive grin, letting out that silent and eerie laugh.

"Let go."

The White-Haired Old Man turned to look at the Middle-aged Man, his tone softening slightly: "Her Older brother is still in the search team looking for food for us, control yourself."

Hearing the White-Haired Old Man's words, the Middle-aged Man released the girl, bored.

However, the lewdness in his eyes was no longer hidden at all.

In the apocalypse, with order collapsing, the bottom line of morality had long since disappeared.

If it weren't for the girl's Older brother being in the search team outside, even if the girl was taken by the Middle-aged Man right there, the people around would have just watched coldly.

The frowns of the crowd just now weren't because they thought the Middle-aged Man was wrong.

It was because they disliked the girl's scream, fearing it might attract Zombies and harm everyone!

And it would be even better if a Child died, saving a mouth to feed.

When they were truly starving, they were even meat.

Look at the few scantily clad, tragic female corpses in the subway tunnel.

They didn't die from Zombie bites, but were murdered by their fellow Humans, under torture!

In the City.

The number of survivors was relatively not small.

Some people who had hoarded a lot of food in their apartments had held out until now.

However, no matter how much they hoarded, three months had passed after all.

Most people's homes basically had no surplus food left.

One by one, they peered out of the windows, hoping to see the Army or some large survivor teams appear below to rescue them.

However, besides the wandering Zombies, there was nothing else!

Some comforting words could still be heard on television channels a while ago.

It was even reported that there was a large military base more than two hundred kilometers away from their Rong City.

That place had been transformed into a large survivor camp!

At that time, quite a few people set off.

But now, the people still in the City didn't know how many people had rushed out back then, or how many had died on the way.

The last time people received a signal was when they heard about Sakura Country dropping a nuclear bomb to deal with mutated Zombies.

Later, the radiation waves instantly swept across countless areas, also causing the signal in Rong City to be interrupted.

It hasn't recovered since.

However, even if it recovered, it would be useless, as the power System is now completely paralyzed!

A series of events created a despair where not a single ray of light could be seen, enveloping everyone!

Cheng Zhao, before the apocalypse, was an ordinary company employee, as ordinary as could be.

His gaze fell on the bread packaging bag beside him, which had been licked clean and shiny, and Cheng Zhao, whose eyes were green with hunger, looked down from his fifth floor at a large supermarket opposite.

This supermarket was full of food!

Moreover, he remembered seeing a beautiful stunner of a woman in the second-floor studio of this supermarket!

If he could get to the second-floor studio, everything in the supermarket would be his!

However, the supermarket was full of wandering Zombies.

Zombies, ah, as long as you were bitten and even a little skin was broken, you would be infected and assimilated, becoming those walking corpses that tore and gnawed on flesh and blood!

No matter how hungry Cheng Zhao was, he could only endure.

But at this moment, his gaze suddenly paused, and he saw a figure at the window of a room in the supermarket below.

It was a very beautiful woman.

In the three months of the apocalypse, she was the cleanest and most beautiful woman Zhao Ling had seen so far.

"Are you listening to me or to him?"

Zhao Ling turned to look at the people around him, and then pointed at Nie Fangping.

"Of, of course, we're listening to Boss Zhao, ah."

The people around him said with a smile.

While speaking, they also pushed Nie Fangping: "This weak and frail kid, who does he think he is."

"Then stop talking nonsense and follow me into this supermarket to get supplies!"

Zhao Ling said coldly.

Hearing this, no one dared to say anything more.

Nie Fangping also sighed, gripping the iron rod in his hand.

As he walked towards the supermarket, he turned his head as if sensing something, only seeing a locust.

Vaguely, Nie Fangping felt that the other party seemed to be looking at him too.

"What's there to look at on a bug, stop dawdling."

The person behind him pushed him.

Nie Fangping staggered two steps, his gaze retracting from the locust: "In such an apocalypse, aren't we ourselves just bugs…"

"Dirty, weak, yet tenacious bugs."
