877: Interrogation of Donald

In the car.

Mo De returned the handgun he had confiscated from Corey yesterday: "We're going to see Old Tang Na in a bit."

"If he runs and you can't catch him, remember to shoot, aim for the legs!"

This was to deal with Old Tang Na.

This was the fundamental reason Mo De brought Corey along.

After all, Old Tang Na was a guy who worked as a blacksmith year-round.

Unlike Pu Yinghao, who Mo De saw act recklessly in the death replay yesterday, Mo De didn't have much confidence in dealing with that guy by himself.

"Shoot?" Corey paused: "Could Old Tang Na really be the murderer?"

Mo De paused, looking at the guy in the passenger seat whose tone had become urgent: "Most likely."

These three short words caused a hint of hatred to well up in Corey's eyes: "That damned guy, he actually set me up and framed me!"

The car sped along the road.

With Mo De prioritizing saving time, the two of them only took less than ten minutes to arrive in front of Old Tang Na's blacksmith shop.

After getting out of the car, both of them looked at the shop's storefront.

The shop door was locked, and a 'Closed' sign hung on it.

"Old Tang Na's blacksmith shop usually opens at six or seven in the morning.

He generally goes to a breakfast shop to buy food after he wakes up.

Why isn't it open now?"

Corey walked up to the door, spoke in confusion, and then seemed to confirm something: "Could it be that he found out we were coming, felt guilty, and ran away?!"

"Bang bang bang!"

Mo De knocked on the door without saying a word.

The blacksmith shop's main door was made of iron, and the sound of knocking was quite loud.

However, despite the noise, there was still no movement inside the blacksmith shop.

"Is anyone there?"

"Old Tang Na?"

Corey also shouted inside.

There was no sound at all.

"Old Tang Na went to Town the day before yesterday to sell things and hasn't come back yet," a person from a nearby general store came out and reminded them.

"He went to Town the day before yesterday and still hasn't returned?"

"Can selling something take two or three days?

Does he even have money to stay in Town?"

Corey asked doubtfully.

"I don't know.

In the past, Old Tang Na always went to Town and came back the same evening.

I've never seen him gone for two or three days like this," Old Tang Na's neighbor scratched his head.

This situation was already unexpected.

Corey couldn't help but look at Mo De with an inquiring gaze.

"Break the door open," Mo De ordered without hesitation.

"Break it open?" Corey hesitated slightly, but then followed the order and picked up a stone from the ground nearby.

He aimed at the lock and smashed it!

With several loud sounds, the deformed lock fell to the ground.

The door was pushed open.

A strong smell of rust rushed out.

"Captain, someone's there!" The moment the door opened, Corey saw a figure flipping out of a window from inside the house!

"Chase!" Mo De said, and at the same time, he himself ran around the house, chasing from the other side.

The person escaping must be Old Tang Na!

He had returned long ago, but had been hiding inside the house, creating the illusion that he wasn't there!

Being prepared, after Mo De went around the house, he could see the guy frantically fleeing on the small path ahead!

"Bang!" While running, Mo De fired his gun without hesitation.

However, his aim was still very poor.

"Bang!" At the same moment, Corey, who was chasing from behind, also fired his gun.

The moment the bullet left the chamber, a spray of blood immediately erupted from the guy's leg in the distance!

With a cry of pain, the other party fell directly to the ground.

"As expected of a real Police officer, such good aim," Mo De looked at Corey and smiled.

In just a few breaths, the two of them caught up, restrained the other party, and also put on a pair of handcuffs.

And during this process, Mo De could already clearly see that this person was Old Tang Na!

"You murderer! You scumbag who framed me, keep running!" Corey panted heavily while kicking Old Tang Na twice fiercely.

"No, I'm not, I'm not a murderer! You've got the wrong person!" Old Tang Na cried out in pain, not forgetting to defend himself.

"If you're not the murderer, why did you run? And you're still arguing!" Corey's voice was loud, filled with considerable anger.

"I... I..." Old Tang Na was speechless when asked like this.

Instead, he cried out about the pain in his leg: "You shot me in the leg, quickly take me to the Hospital!"

While the other party was crying out, Mo De expressionlessly pulled up the other party's sleeve.

Clearly visible, a bullet hole that had caused a significant injury was right there!

Then he looked at the other party's palm.

Even though the paint stains had been washed, there were still obvious residues!

"The person who shot at me in the woods last night, trying to kill me, that was you, wasn't it?" Mo De asked with a smile.

His words, spoken in a normal tone, instantly stopped Old Tang Na's crying: "Sheriff Mode, what are you talking about? I... I don't quite understand."

"Let's go, we'll have a chat at the Police station," Mo De grabbed the guy by the collar and took him to the Police car.

Along the way, Old Tang Na kept crying about being shot in the leg and how painful it was.

After arriving at the Police station, Mo De had Corey casually treat the other party's wound with a first-aid kit and then took him to the interrogation room.

At this point, Old Tang Na had quieted down considerably.

However, his state was much more listless.

Shot in the arm last night, shot in the leg today, even the most energetic person wouldn't be able to stay lively under these circumstances.

Sitting in the interrogation chair, Mo De glanced at Bosen's death report in his hand.

This was provided by the forensic doctor in Town.

It clearly proved that Bosen was dead, and the victim's DNA was confirmed to be Bosen without a doubt.

"Why did you kill Bosen? Had your conflict reached this point?" Mo De's first question was phrased as if the matter was already confirmed.

"Sheriff, I didn't kill Bosen!" Old Tang Na said with a mournful face: "My relationship with Bosen was bad, but I really didn't kill him!"

Hearing this, Mo De casually turned on the voice recorder next to him and started recording: "Do you want me to help you recall, to review the method you used to kill Bosen?"

"Sheriff, I really didn't kill Bosen!" Old Tang Na kept repeating the same sentence back and forth.

He seemed to want to add something else, but then chose to remain silent.

Mo De ignored the other party's words: "The escalation of the conflict between you and Bosen was because of a dog, right?"

After this sentence was spoken, Old Tang Na's expression showed a very subtle change.

"I don't think two rough guys like you and Bosen would fight to the death purely over a dog itself.

This dog should represent something else."

Speaking of this, Mo De lowered his voice: "Because of money, right?"

"If my guess is correct, that dog represented wealth!"

"Perhaps it was a lost pet of some wealthy person, or perhaps the dog itself carried some huge fortune."

"In short, both of you knew about this matter and both wanted to take it for yourselves, which is why it led to a bigger conflict!"

"No, what nonsense are you talking about!" Old Tang Na's attitude suddenly became agitated: "Bosen and I simply liked that dog.

How could it be related to money?!"

Mo De shrugged at this: "When I handled the fight between the two of you caused by that dog, I awarded the dog to Bosen and had Bosen compensate you a thousand dollars."

"A thousand dollars, based on your work situation, would take at least one or two months to earn, right?"

"With such generous compensation, a normal person would be satisfied, yet you repeatedly showed dissatisfaction, and even your attitude towards me became hostile."

"I have many hypotheses, but what I can ultimately confirm and believe is that the wealth represented by that dog was more than a thousand dollars, perhaps even far more!"

"Only in that case would you feel like you lost out and be dissatisfied!"

By the time he said this, Old Tang Na's expression was already unpredictable, mostly showing panic.

"Later, Bosen should have successfully obtained huge wealth through that dog as he wished!"

"That also explains why he asked me for a residency transfer certificate."

"Because he understood that you would always covet the wealth he obtained in Town, and only by leaving Town could he properly enjoy the wealth he had acquired."

"But you found out about all of this," Mo De tapped the table with his finger: "As the only person in Town who knew Bosen possessed a huge fortune, you couldn't tolerate Bosen leaving Town with so much money!"

"You felt that at least some of this money belonged to you!"

"Therefore, wickedness arose in your heart, and you conceived the idea of killing the other party and taking all the wealth for yourself!"

"You are the murderer!"

"No, I didn't, I didn't kill Bosen! I didn't kill him at all! What nonsense are you talking about!" Old Tang Na's voice was pale but extremely loud as he argued for himself.
