849: Corey's Hidden Secret, a Sandwich

Rule A Group 1 of the Strange Talk states that being the murderer is incorrect.

Regarding this conclusion, Mo De already had about seventy to eighty percent certainty in his heart.

Then who would the real murderer be?

Mo De believed that the Strange Talk Rule guiding him into this dismemberment case must mean that this case held the method to break the situation!

Naturally, the most crucial information must be with the murderer of this case!

Perhaps after finding that murderer, all the mysteries would become much clearer.

Recalling so many suspects, Mo De suddenly looked at his colleague Corey in front of him.

"Captain, is something wrong?" Corey showed an uncomfortable expression under such a gaze.

"July 17th, what did you do that day?" Mo De remembered that among the suspects, Corey, being a Police, was also a suspect!

And the reason for the suspicion was that on July 17th, Corey took a full day off.

All of this was recorded in the materials compiled by his predecessor.

According to the forensic report, the victim's date of death was basically determined to be around mid-July!

"I..." Corey's expression stiffened upon hearing Mo De's inquiry, and his gaze flickered slightly: "Didn't I say that day that I wasn't feeling well and asked for leave from you, Captain?"

"You're lying!" Mo De's tone grew heavier.

After arriving in this World, he paid extreme attention to every detail.

How could Corey's obviously lying expression hide from him?

"Captain, are you perhaps suspecting me?!" Corey's face flushed with anger at having his lie so mercilessly exposed.

Pointing a finger at Mo De, he spoke: "We've been Partners for so many years, haven't you seen my work style, Captain? You actually consider me the murderer of the dismemberment case, it truly disappoints me to the core!"

"Tell me, what were you doing that day?!" Mo De didn't let this guy's words affect him at all.

With a heavier tone, he even directly slapped the pistol on his waist onto the table!

The voice, even more enraged than Corey's, instantly extinguished Corey's simmering anger.

"You should know the seriousness of this case, we only have two people, and the murderer could dismember and bury the person, and dispose of the body in such a way that we still haven't found the upper half of the body until now; such a large amount of work indicates that the other party is likely not just one person!"

"Now, it's not just the Town residents who are in danger, we are also in danger!"

Mo De's tone softened considerably: "I know you can't be the murderer, but I need your information from that day, we need to rely on information to find a Breakthrough and direction!"

"So, tell me, why did you take leave that day, and what was the real reason for taking leave."

Instead of extreme emotional pressure, Mo De adopted a strategy of deterrence combined with gentleness.

The purpose was to get information out of the other party.

"I..." Hearing Mo De's words, Corey lowered his head and fell into silence and conflict.

"I really just took a normal leave at that time... As for Bosen's death, it has absolutely nothing to do with me, that's for sure!"

Finally, Corey gave an answer that was unexpected by Mo De.

Even with his pressing, Corey still didn't confess what happened that day!

"Why?" Mo De looked at Corey, questioning himself in his heart.

Among the materials he had read before, several clearly proved that this guy was not at home for most of the day!

If it weren't for the fact that Corey usually rarely even met Bosen, let alone had any grudges, he would probably have been directly confirmed from a suspect to a criminal suspect!

One thing was certain: Corey definitely knew some important information!

It was just that the other party was keeping tight-lipped.

The only factor Mo De could think of was that if what happened that day was revealed by Corey, he himself or a relative or someone he cared about would suffer!

Out of consideration, he hadn't spoken.

What was he worried about?!

"You don't trust me?" Mo De stared intently at the other party, still unwilling to give up, and asked.

Hearing this, Corey looked directly into his eyes, took a deep breath, and said ambiguously: "No, it's that I trust you too much."

After speaking, the Man turned and walked towards the office door: "Captain, I'm not feeling well today, I'll take a day off first."

Mo De watched the other party leave, and rubbed between his eyebrows with a bit of fatigue.

It was clear that Corey definitely knew something!

But how to pry his mouth open was a problem.

Touching his stomach which hadn't eaten anything since yesterday, Mo De looked at the sandwich on the table in front of him.

When he reached out, however, he picked up the hot dog next to it.

Eating, Mo De looked at Corey's desk.

Without hesitation, he sat in his seat and began searching for potentially useful information.

Flipping through stacks of documents, Mo De could see from Corey's organization of these materials and his case analysis methods that he was meticulous in his work.

Even for a small chicken theft case, he had hand-drawn numerous clues, and the materials were organized meticulously; although it ultimately became an unsolved cold case, it was enough to show his work attitude.

Such a diligent Police, if he truly knew anything about the dismemberment case, would absolutely not hide anything from himself!

Even threats from the murderer would be difficult to have an effect!

Could it be that his family was threatened?

With this thought, Mo De continued to search for information.

While searching, he also unintentionally found Corey's personal file.

Joined in July 1990.

Through the personal file, Mo De learned that Corey's various abilities were very average.

However, his ambition was very strong.

His best performance was once facing a hostage situation with a criminal, where he risked his own life to subdue the criminal!

Such a person could not possibly be threatened!

As for family...

The file information showed that Corey was just one person, with no parents or relatives!

No weakness that could be endangered could be found at all.

While Mo De was contemplating, he suddenly noticed a letter in Corey's drawer.

No, not one letter, but seven or eight.

"Dear Ms. Bertha, from the first moment I saw you, I was deeply fascinated by your beauty, you are like the most wonderful part of the countless fleeting landscapes of mountains, forests, and lakes outside the train window, I believe that even when I reach the terminal station, I will still be unable to forget your beauty."

"I think we could try to get to know each other? I wonder if Ms. Bertha is willing to have me as an admirer?"

...

Looking at the content of the letters, Mo De's eyes twitched slightly.

These were love letters written by Corey?

He opened the remaining envelopes.

Indeed, these were all love letters he had written to Bertha, but none had been sent out.

"This kid, has a crush on Bertha?" Mo De muttered to himself.

He had some understanding of Bertha.

Of course, this was also through the information he had looked through before.

Bertha was a suitable-aged woman in the Town, she was very beautiful, but she was an orphan and lived alone in a house on the edge of the Town.

Could it be that Bertha's safety was in the hands of the murderer, which is why Corey refused to reveal a single piece of information to him?

While considering these things, Mo De also felt somewhat full.

Looking at the remaining section of the hot dog in his hand, he couldn't help but sigh at the generous portion size of the food in this place.

Getting up from Corey's workstation, Mo De roughly had a direction for what to do next.

Perhaps that Bertha was the Breakthrough.

However, these things could only be further pursued when he came back to work tomorrow.

Turning his head to look at the unremarkable sandwich, Mo De took it with him and walked towards the Town pub.
