878: Old Donald is not the murderer

Throughout Mo De’s speech, his eyes remained fixed on Old Tang Na.

The fluctuations in the other party’s emotions and facial expressions only became abnormal when he mentioned that the dog represented money.

Later, when he definitively stated that Old Tang Na had killed Bosen, Old Tang Na became particularly resistant.

He looked exactly like an innocent person who had been wronged.

“Are you the murderer or not?” Mo De asked calmly, posing a question to which Old Tang Na’s answer was already known.

“No! I didn’t kill Bosen!” Old Tang Na replied as expected.

“System, use a lie detection opportunity.” Taking a deep breath, Mo De sought help from the System.

For a prime suspect like Old Tang Na, using a lie detection opportunity was very necessary.

“Ding~ Host has consumed one lie detection opportunity. System is beginning detection.”

“Upon detection, Old Tang Na did not lie.”

The System’s response was calm, as if giving the answer to a century-old problem as simply as one plus one, in a light and understated manner.

This prevented Mo De from even having enough time to build up the countdown-like tension he had been feeling.

“Not…” Seeing this answer, Mo De’s eyes flashed.

He wouldn’t have believed this answer coming from anyone else, but he did believe the System that had helped him survive until now…

His previously firm direction was completely disrupted by this answer at this moment.

Mo De had ignored so much information all along, but it was all because his goal was clearly to focus on Old Tang Na!

After all, a person’s energy is limited, and researching too many directions of information can easily waste precious time and mislead oneself.

He originally thought that conducting the investigation around Old Tang Na was the correct direction…

Exhaling a murky breath, Mo De looked at the agitated Old Tang Na and spoke again: “Was the mysterious person who met with Corey you? Was the mysterious person who promised Bertha money to cooperate with the act you?”

He threw out two questions.

After the System confirmed that Old Tang Na was not the murderer, he naturally understood the answers to these two questions.

However, what Mo De needed was not the answers, but the information beyond those answers.

Even if Old Tang Na wasn’t the murderer, in his opinion, he must know some other information!

“Mysterious person?” Hearing this, Old Tang Na’s eyes flickered, and he fell silent again.

“If you don’t speak, then I will directly convict you as the murderer of Bosen, as well as the crime of shooting me in the Redwood Forest last night.” Mo De used the same intimidation tactics he had used against Bertha on Old Tang Na.

“At that time, I will help you get a death sentence.”

“Don’t! I know the mysterious person you’re talking about!” Old Tang Na shouted in a hurry.

Under the threat of conviction, he finally stopped hiding things.

“Actually, the cause of all this is pretty much what you said, Sheriff, it’s because of that dog.”

“At that time, Bosen and I went to Town together and found that a top wealthy person’s beloved dog was lost. He said that if anyone helped him find it, there would be a huge fortune given as a gift!”

“Bosen and I didn’t take it seriously at first, but when we arrived at the Town, we immediately found that dog!”

“We really did have a complete falling out because of that dog.”

Speaking of this, Old Tang Na lowered his head: “I really never gave up, I kept thinking about getting that dog back.”

“But that wealthy person later already gave Bosen the money. I was very jealous, and I did have the intention of getting the money over, and I even thought about killing Bosen, but I hadn’t had time to do that yet!”

Old Tang Na’s voice became heavier at this moment, as if he was emphasizing this point.

“What happened later?” Mo De continued to press.

“Later…” Old Tang Na looked around the interrogation room, as if checking if there were other people eavesdropping: “One day later, Officer Corey came to me and asked me to make a Gu bone cleaver.”

“Then Bosen disappeared, and I thought he had already left the Town.”

“When I found and confirmed that Bosen was dead and had been dismembered, I understood that the murderer was Corey!”

Mo De was noncommittal: “The first time I came to investigate you, you said that the relationship between you and Bosen wasn’t bad enough to talk about life and death, and you even questioned Corey, asking him what he thought. Why did you question him at that time?”

“I was reminding Corey!” Old Tang Na explained again: “Bosen was dead, but his large amount of money wasn’t found. I knew that all that money must have been taken by Corey, the murderer!”

“So when I questioned Corey at that time, I was reminding him that since you got so much money from Bosen, you should give me some.”

“And as expected, Officer Corey’s comprehension ability is very high. He found me the day before yesterday and told me to go to the Redwood Forest last night to dig for money.”

“The rest of the matter… Sheriff, you already know.”

“Corey found you the day before yesterday and told you to go to the Redwood Forest to dig for money?” Mo De frowned.

“Yes.”

“Did you really see him?”

“No, I didn’t. At that time, I heard a knock at the door, and when I opened it, I found a letter at the door. The information Corey conveyed was in the letter.” Old Tang Na chose to tell the truth on this point.

“You didn’t even see the person, and you’re sure it was Corey?” Mo De retorted.

Old Tang Na said as if it was a given: “Otherwise, who else could it be? I didn’t hint at anything to anyone else. Could it be that the murderer voluntarily gave me money?”

“Was there anything else noteworthy at that time?”

“Nothing special.” Old Tang Na thought for a while: “Oh, right, the handwriting on the letter I received was pretty ugly.”

“Like a Child who hasn’t studied, the writing was crooked and messy.”

“Ugly handwriting?” Hearing this, Mo De was somewhat certain in his heart: “Is the letter on you?”

“No, I casually threw that thing away at home.” Old Tang Na answered truthfully.

Seeing this, Mo De got up and walked out of the interrogation room.

When he returned, he already had a letter from Old Tang Na in his hand.

This was something Mo De had instructed Corey to find.

Opening the envelope, the handwriting inside was indeed as Old Tang Na described, crooked and messy, as if written by someone who hadn’t written before, but it also seemed like the other party was deliberately concealing their handwriting.

It was not difficult to see that this letter and the letter Corey had taken out before were both written by the same person!

That is, the mysterious person whose Dragon God is seen but not their head!

“You didn’t speak before because you were afraid of exposing the fact that you took their money?” Mo De asked Old Tang Na.

The other party nodded.

Exhaling a murky breath, Mo De was somewhat in a daze.

Since Old Tang Na wasn’t the murderer, is there anyone else who could be a suspect?

Corey?

Or… himself?

Suddenly remembering something, Mo De looked at Old Tang Na: “Why did the murder weapon, the Gu bone cleaver, end up at the vegetable market from your hands?”

This was a very big point of suspicion.

Mo De ultimately believed Old Tang Na was the murderer, and it was based on this.

And the System had already told him the answer, Old Tang Na wasn’t the murderer, so the reason why the murder weapon went to the vegetable market was something that needed a lot of investigation.
