29: Chapter 29 Critical Hit! Crazy Upgrade

Jiang Ning stepped into the thick fog and vanished without a trace.

There was no sound in the carriage.

Li Wei and a few others in the queue on the right stretched their necks long, staring intently at the pink fog.

Li Wei's face was twisted; she both hoped Jiang Ning would be torn apart by the monster to prove that her own cowering was wise, and feared that if Jiang Ning died, the monster would come for her next.

Because of their cowardice, a touch of malice grew in the hearts of Li Wei and the others.

The silence only lasted for a second.

"Front left, three steps! It's at your feet, trying to climb the wall!"

Mu Waner's urgent shout rang out. The data stream in Mu Waner's eyes refreshed rapidly, locking tightly onto the energy anomaly caused by the Mist-Hiding Beast due to Jiang Ning's intrusion.

Before the words had even faded.

In the thick fog, Jiang Ning let out a suppressed low roar, exerting force from her chest to squeeze sound from her throat.

There was no flash of a blade.

A black shadow swept across the ground from bottom to top, bringing with it a sharp whistling wind, slashing fiercely at the outer wall of the carriage from a tricky angle.

Puchi—

The sound of cutting reached everyone's ears.

The sound was like a knife cutting into a large block of grease.

Immediately after, emerald green blood erupted, splashing a fan-shaped mark on the metal wall.

The outline of a monster painfully manifested in the air, hissing.

The monster's body was completely sliced open diagonally from its abdomen in one stroke.

The upper half of its body was still instinctively and futilely clawing at the wall, while the lower half, carrying entrails and green blood, fell to the ground and was still twitching slightly.

The monster was killed in one strike.

This strike was clean and decisive, full of a sense of savage violence.

A gasp of air sounded within the carriage.

Almost at the exact moment the Mist-Hiding Beast was judged dead.

[System Notification: Your team member 'Jiang Ning' has killed a LV1 Mist-Hiding Beast, you gain EXP +5.]

A blinding rainbow-colored light exploded before Fang Che's eyes.

[Talent: Absolute Critical Hit has been triggered.]

[Critical Hit Multiplier: ×10.]

[You gain EXP +50.]

Boom.

A torrent of scalding energy detonated within Fang Che's body, violently washing over his limbs and bones.

The fatigue on his body vanished completely in an instant.

[System Notification: Congratulations, you have leveled up to LV2, all attributes +5.]

A blinding golden pillar of light shot up from Fang Che without warning, enveloping him, scattering the surrounding pink fog a little.

On the public screen in the center of the carriage, the "LV1" text after Fang Che's name flickered and jumped to "LV2".

Those two characters were fiercely imprinted on the retinas of the twenty-something girls on the right.

The girls' eyes were stung by the golden light, and their hearts were filled with regret.

"Why?!"

"Why were they here, trembling with weak legs, praying to gods and Buddhas like dogs, while that man just stood there without even moving, and... leveled up?!"

"The one who killed the monster was Jiang Ning! Why does he get a share of the EXP? And level up directly?!"

"This isn't fair!"

Lin Xinyi bit her lower lip hard, her teeth piercing the flesh, and the taste of blood permeated her mouth.

Lin Xinyi looked at Fang Che, who was enveloped in golden light, and then looked at the companions on the left who were rejoicing because of Jiang Ning's victory and Fang Che's leveling up.

Intense jealousy was about to overwhelm Lin Xinyi's sanity.

It seemed as if... Lin Xinyi had made a stupid and irreversible decision.

Fang Che ignored the resentful and regretful gazes behind him.

Fang Che took a quick look at his attribute panel.

[Fang Che] [Level: LV2] [Talent: Absolute Critical Hit (SSS)] [Strength: 58] [Agility: 59] [Constitution: 58] [Spirit: 61] [...]

All attributes +5.

Fang Che clenched his fist, his knuckles making a crisp cracking sound. He could clearly feel power surging beneath his muscle fibers that was stronger than before.

"This is leveling up, this is getting stronger, though it's still not as fast as 'papa'."

Fang Che didn't pause; he strode forward immediately, ignoring the foul-smelling blood and the still-twitching corpse parts on the ground, and stepped out of the carriage door to the side of the carcass.

Under the puzzled gazes of everyone, Fang Che reached out his finger and touched the cold body of the Mist-Hiding Beast.

Hum— Another rainbow-colored light that only Fang Che could see exploded.

[Talent: Absolute Critical Hit has been triggered.] [Critical Hit Multiplier: ×20.] [Obtained Items: Mist-Hiding Beast's Mimicry Skin ×20, Weak Corrosion Gland ×20.]

Clatter— Thump. Thump.

The next second, a pile of things appeared out of thin air and slammed heavily onto the floor by Fang Che's feet.

These were some slightly wriggling, translucent leathers that emitted a strong, fishy stench, as well as a few glands that looked like water bags filled with turbid liquid. These materials were piled together, and foul-smelling mucus splattered everywhere.

This was equivalent to creating something out of thin air.

This scene, which defied common sense, completely shattered the psychological defenses of some people.

In the queue on the right, a girl could no longer withstand the continuous terrifying shocks, let out a short scream, and fainted.

In the thick fog, Jiang Ning shook the green blood off her blade and walked back with large strides.

Jiang Ning's gaze went directly past the terrified "smart people", ignored the worshipful gazes of her comrades, and locked tightly onto Fang Che.

Jiang Ning's chest heaved violently, accompanied by rapid panting, and sweat slid down her temples.

Jiang Ning stared straight at Fang Che, full of a desire to seek approval.

Fang Che understood what Jiang Ning meant.

Fang Che smiled without saying anything, just giving Jiang Ning a thumbs up.

A simple gesture.

Jiang Ning's heart skipped a beat.

A strong sense of satisfaction welled up in her heart.

Jiang Ning grinned, revealing a mouthful of white teeth, smiling somewhat wildly.

The initial victory, combined with the spoils obtained, caused the team's morale to soar.

However, just at this moment—

"Wait... wait!"

Mu Waner shouted loudly, her voice sharp and trembling.

Everyone looked over abruptly, only to see that Mu Waner's face had lost all color in an instant, and her body was shaking uncontrollably.

Mu Waner's pupils were contracting violently.

Mu Waner tremblingly raised her finger toward the depths of the thick fog, her voice carrying a sob.

"Not... not just one!"

"From all... directions! They... they have all been drawn over by the smell of blood!"

"So... so many! At least... thirty of them!"
