80: Chapter 80 Real and Fake Nurses
Two female nurses who looked exactly the same.
Their movements and voices were identical, perfectly synchronized.
"Student, where do you feel unwell?"
The overlapping voices rang out, carrying an extremely rigid, standardized tone, causing the group to freeze the moment they entered the door.
Mu Waner was the first to react; she instinctively hid behind Fang Che and exclaimed in a hushed voice.
"What the hell is this? Are they twins?"
Teacher Qin Bing's expression also darkened. She gripped her weapon tightly, staring intently at the two nurses, her vigilance growing.
"Don't move."
Fang Che raised his hand to stop the commotion from the women behind him.
He scanned his gaze back and forth across the two nurses.
It was truly bizarre.
Too bizarre.
Not only were their appearances and figures exactly the same, but one couldn't even find the slightest difference in the curvature of their standardized smiles.
Fang Che's gaze fell upon their chests.
The rhythm of their chest movements while breathing was perfectly synchronized.
Even the amplitude of every blink and eyelash flutter was uniform.
This was definitely not something twins could achieve.
This was completely the same person, copied directly.
Jiang Ning lowered her voice, her tone becoming very agitated.
"Fang Che, what should we do? These two things look wrong!"
Fang Che did not turn back; he calmly took a step forward.
He looked directly at the two nurses and asked.
"Excuse me, is there only one nurse here?"
As soon as this question was asked, a bizarre scene occurred.
The nurse on the left kept her smile unchanged and replied with that emotionless, sweet voice.
"Yes, student, there is only one nurse in the Infirmary."
The nurse on the right, at the very same instant, said the exact opposite.
"No, student, there are two nurses on duty in the Infirmary."
This sentence left everyone stunned on the spot.
Mu Waner's mind raced, and she immediately followed this logic.
"One real and one fake? Is this one of those classic logic puzzles where one tells the truth and the other tells a lie?"
Teacher Qin Bing also furrowed her brows.
She had heard of such urban legends; usually, one needed to ask questions to identify the one telling the truth and then obtain the correct information from it.
Chen Keke asked in a low voice.
"Then which one is actually real?"
Fang Che's face was calm, and he completely ignored the discussion behind him.
He extended his right hand toward the two nurses and began to spout nonsense without batting an eye.
"My hand is fractured and it hurts a lot; I need to get it treated immediately."
The nurse on the left reacted immediately.
The smile on her face became even kinder, and she even took a small step forward, taking a roll of bandages and a splint from the cabinet next to her.
"Student, please extend your hand. Don't be afraid. I'll fix it for you right away, and it won't hurt soon."
Her movements looked incredibly professional, and her tone was full of concern.
However, just as she was about to act, the nurse on the right spoke up.
Her voice remained flat and devoid of any fluctuation, but the content of her words made everyone's body go cold.
"You are not injured."
The nurse on the right stared at Fang Che's hand with hollow eyes.
"Your hand bones are intact, the muscle tissue is undamaged, and you do not need treatment."
Once these words were spoken, everyone's gaze converged on the nurse on the right.
Mu Waner immediately grasped the key point.
"She's right! Fang Che isn't injured at all. This nurse can distinguish truth from falsehood; she's the one telling the truth!"
Jiang Ning, who had the most fiery temper, immediately chimed in.
"Then the one on the left is the one trying to hurt people. It definitely wants to use the splint against Fang Che! Since we already know which one is fake, why waste words? Let's just hack it to death!"
Before she even finished speaking, she was already preparing to rush toward the nurse on the left.
Just then, the smile on the face of the nurse on the right suddenly disappeared.
Her expression instantly turned icy, and she spoke in a stiff tone, like an electronic synthesizer.
"Violence against medical staff is prohibited inside the Infirmary."
The next second, the lights in the entire Infirmary began to flicker wildly. With two screeching static noises, large dark red stains on the wall began to squirm, converging into a line of bloody characters.
"Medical staff threatened. Violators will be eliminated."
"Stop!"
Fang Che grabbed Jiang Ning and pressed her hand down firmly.
Almost at the same time Jiang Ning's intent to attack vanished, that terrifying pressure locking her down dissipated instantly.
The Infirmary lights returned to normal, and the bloody characters on the wall faded away.
Jiang Ning was panting heavily and her face was deathly pale; her back was already completely soaked with cold sweat.
She was still shaken.
"How... how could this happen? I was clearly aiming to attack the fake one!"
Fang Che let go of her hand, his voice very low.
"I should have thought of it sooner; this isn't that kind of simple truth or lie game."
He looked at the two nurses who had returned to their standardized smiles, his eyes becoming exceptionally grave.
"Both of them are protected by the rules of this place. Regardless of whether they are real or fake, as long as we harbor the intent to attack, we will trigger the rules here that eliminate violators."
Mu Waner was really getting anxious.
"Then what do we do now? We can't just keep wasting time here; the monsters outside could charge in at any moment!"
Just then, the silent Su Qingxue suddenly pointed toward the door.
"There is something here."
Everyone turned to look and saw an old wooden sign hanging behind the door of the Infirmary, with several lines of text written in red paint.
Su Qingxue walked over and read the words on it.
"Infirmary Rules."
"Rule 1: Medical staff must answer any questions from those seeking help."
"Rule 2: During work hours, medical staff must not leave their posts for any reason."
"Rule 3: Medical staff must not provide incorrect diagnoses or treatments to patients."
The three rules were written clearly.
Mu Waner immediately began to analyze them.
"Must answer, cannot leave, and cannot misdiagnose... We can use these rules!"
Teacher Qin Bing nodded.
"That's right. We can force the nurse who is lying to reveal a flaw by asking questions. As long as it provides an incorrect answer, it will have violated the third rule!"
Everyone chimed in, and they quickly found a new breakthrough.
However, Fang Che shook his head.
He kept staring at the two identical nurses and their identical smiles; a strong sense of dissonance lingered in his mind.
He took a deep breath and stepped forward again.
He stood directly in front of the two nurses, swept his gaze from left to right, and then asked a question that no one expected.
Fang Che's voice spread through the quiet Infirmary, clearly reaching everyone's ears.
"The two of you, who has violated the rules?"
According to the rules, they were required to answer.
And this question itself was a paradox.
If there was a violator, the one telling the truth would point them out, and the one lying would lie. If neither violated the rules...
Just as everyone held their breath, waiting for an answer, the two identical nurses made a perfectly synchronized movement again.
They simultaneously raised their right hands.
Then the nurse on the left extended a finger and pointed at the nurse on the right.
The nurse on the right also extended a finger and pointed at the nurse on the left.
Both nurses still wore their standardized smiles, and they spoke in unison with that overlapping, emotionless voice.
"It is her."
