48: Chapter 48: Everyone in a single room; tonight is destined to be a sleepless night.

Fang Che walked out of the bathroom.

Warm steam, mingled with the fresh scent of body wash, radiated from him.

Outside the door, the voices of several girls pretending to chat faltered. All eyes instantly focused on him, filled with curiosity and speculation.

Jiang Ning and her two companions had just stepped out, and Fang Che followed right on their heels; the speed was enough to set people's imaginations running wild.

Fang Che ignored those gazes and walked straight toward the public area of the Train.

Su Qingxue and Teacher Qin Bing were tallying the spoils, while Mu Waner stood to the side recording on a tablet. The three had a clear division of labor, already showing the prototype of a core management team.

He cleared his throat.

"Ahem."

Instantly, everyone in the carriage turned their gaze toward him, including the girls who had just finished bathing and were comfortably drying their hair.

"I know that everyone has been very tired these past two days, and your nerves have been tightly wound."

His voice was steady and calm.

"Although the Train can protect us, dozens of people squeezed into a metal carriage with no personal space is not a long-term solution."

Hearing this, many girls nodded subconsciously, feeling the same way.

They had to queue for long periods to use the restroom and bathe, and when sleeping, people were packed against one another; it was difficult even to turn over, with no privacy at all, resulting in extremely poor sleep quality.

"Therefore, I have decided..."

Fang Che paused, and meeting the expectant gazes of the crowd, he dropped a bombshell.

"We will use the materials dropped from the BOSS we defeated to build a single bedroom for everyone."

"Wh—what? A single bedroom?"

"One for everyone? Did I hear that right?"

"Is that for real? How many materials would that cost?"

The carriage went dead silent for a second.

The next moment, the crowd completely erupted.

Emotions of surprise, doubt, and disbelief were intertwined on every girl's face.

A girl shouted excitedly, "Is it true, Fang Che? Is it the kind of room with a bed, a door, and a lock?"

"Of course," Fang Che nodded.

"Oh my god!"

"That's amazing! I can finally sleep by myself!"

"Ahhh! Fang Che, you are my god!"

Screams and cheers nearly blew the roof off the carriage.

For these girls struggling to survive in the apocalypse, a room of their own that could be locked provided a sense of security and happiness that nothing else could replace.

It was not just a place to sleep, but a private territory where one could let down all their defenses.

Teacher Qin Bing and Su Qingxue also walked over quickly. They exchanged glances, both seeing shock in each other's eyes.

"Fang Che, the idea is great, but are there enough materials?" Teacher Qin Bing, acting as a semi-manager of supplies, frowned and expressed her concern.

Fang Che smiled and brought up the Train's built-in construction interface, which clearly listed various facilities.

He clicked on [Single Bedroom].

[Independent Bedroom Module (Single): Includes a single wooden bed and a simple storage cabinet. Requirements: Wood × 1000, Iron Ingots × 200, Fiber × 500.]

"How many materials do we have now?" Fang Che asked.

Mu Waner immediately reported the data: "Over thirty thousand wood, over ten thousand metal, and over twenty thousand fiber."

Su Qingxue nodded after doing the mental math: "Theoretically, we need 34,000 wood, 6,800 metal, and 17,000 fiber. We are a bit short on wood, but if we can trigger a Critical Hit, it should be more than enough."

"Then let's begin."

Fang Che did not hesitate; he directly selected a construction quantity of 34 on the interface and prepared to click confirm.

"Wait!" Mu Waner called out to stop him. "Fang Che, why don't we build fewer and squeeze in together? Using up so many materials at once, what if we need them urgently at the next stop..."

Her concern was also the concern of everyone present.

The cheers in the carriage died down, and tense gazes refocused on Fang Che.

"Don't worry."

Fang Che's tone was calm, yet carried an inherent power that made people trust him.

"Have you forgotten my Talent?"

Before he finished speaking, he pressed the confirm button.

[Starting construction of Single Bedroom * 1...]

[SSS-Rank Talent: Absolute Critical Hit triggered!]

[Construction cost triggered a 2x Critical Hit modifier! Actual consumption: Wood * 500, Metal * 100, Fiber * 250!]

The notification on the panel flashed by, and Mu Waner's eyes widened sharply.

"Heavens! The material consumption was cut in half!"

Before the crowd could exclaim, Fang Che continued to click build.

[Starting construction of Single Bedroom * 1...]

[SSS-Rank Talent: Absolute Critical Hit triggered!]

[Construction cost triggered a 3x Critical Hit modifier! Actual consumption: Wood * 334, Metal * 67, Fiber * 167!]

[Starting construction of Single Bedroom * 1...]

[SSS-Rank Talent: Absolute Critical Hit triggered!]

...System notifications refreshed crazily.

Two times! Three times! Five times!

The Critical Hit numbers jumped wildly, each one making everyone's heart race.

Fang Che's fingers didn't stop; he finished clicking for all thirty-four bedrooms in one go.

Mu Waner looked at the final statistics on the panel, her voice trembling: "Thirty-four bedrooms... it cost less than forty percent of the materials... we saved over sixty percent of the materials!"

"Holy crap!"

"Fang is so amazing!"

Just then, the entire carriage began to vibrate slightly.

Hum—

The metal walls on both sides emitted a low rumble.

Under the awestruck gaze of everyone, door after door with a metallic luster appeared and grew out of the walls out of thin air!

A row on the left, a row on the right, uniform and orderly.

A corridor wide enough for two people to walk side-by-side formed in the middle.

On every door, a numerical designation appeared, from 01 to 34.

The originally empty carriage turned into an orderly Train hotel in the blink of an eye.

"Holy... it really appeared!"

"So cool! This is practically magic!"

"There's a door! It's a door with a lock!"

The girls could no longer contain themselves; they swarmed forward, touching the cold metal door panels as if stroking precious treasures, their eyes gleaming.

The girl closest to it pushed open the door numbered 07 with trembling hands.

Behind the door was a small space, compact but complete with everything needed.

A single bed with clean sheets, a simple wardrobe, a small table in the corner, and an overhead light emitting a soft glow.

"Ahhh! I'm sleeping in a bed tonight! A soft one!"

The girl let out a happy shriek, threw herself onto the bed, and rolled around.

"Stop screaming, my ears are going to go deaf!"

"What do you know! This is the revival of civilization!"

"Mine is number 12! Nobody better fight me for it!"

"Oh my god... am I dreaming..."

The entire carriage was immersed in a surreal carnival.

Jiang Ning, Chen Keke, and Xu Zhaozhao exchanged glances, seeing excitement and relief in each other's eyes.

They had bet correctly.

Fang Che looked at the lively scene before him, the corners of his mouth curling up slightly. He walked over to Su Qingxue: "Allocate the rooms. You, Teacher Qin, Mu Waner, and Jiang Ning—you core members stay in the front so it's convenient to hold meetings at any time."

"Okay." Su Qingxue nodded immediately and began to make arrangements.

"Also," Fang Che added, "use the remaining materials to make more clothes and weapons. Have Gu Nanzhi continue trading; we need more basic materials to prepare for the next Train upgrade."

"Understood."

After arranging everything, Fang Che said to everyone: "We just passed a station, so we shouldn't be stopping again tonight. Once you get your room numbers and finish washing up, get some rest early and recharge your energy."

After speaking, he turned and walked toward his own room, number 01.

He did not notice.

Behind him, Gu Nanzhi's gaze had been following his back. In those eyes that always carried a gentle smile, a strange light flashed, deep and difficult to fathom.

Fang Che returned to his room; he didn't close the door tightly, intentionally leaving a gap.

He didn't turn on the main light, only a dim, yellow nightlight by the bed; the lighting was ambiguous and hazy.

He leaned against the headboard, waiting quietly.

Less than a minute later, the sound of deliberately muffled footsteps came from outside the door.

The gap in the door was pushed open gently, and a head poked in.

It was Jiang Ning.

She saw Fang Che waiting by the bed, her eyes lighting up. Like an agile cat, she slipped in silently.
