139: Chapter 139 The couple steals a moment of leisure, and Su Che receives the Dragon Kingdom's Sky-Supporting Medal!
Eight o'clock sharp, B2 level of Pangu Laboratory.
Su Che pressed the Enter key, the progress bar on the screen locked, and he saved the initial framework document for "luan bird: Final Version."
Su Che pushed the keyboard away, stood up straight, and turned to look at the other side of the console.
Lin Waner was organizing the discarded drawings on the table; she was wearing those newly issued white sneakers, her hair tied loosely behind her head.
Su Che walked over and took her by the wrist.
"Stop cleaning up," Su Che said.
Lin Waner stopped what she was doing and looked at him.
"We're off today," Su Che said, picking up the hoodie draped over the back of his chair. "I'm taking you out for a stroll."
Qin Lan walked in from outside, holding a tactical terminal, and was just about to start reporting the latest intelligence.
"No briefings today," Su Che interrupted her. "Arrange a regular car for me. No guards, just covert protection."
Qin Lan glanced at Su Che, then at Lin Waner, nodded, and turned to go make the arrangements.
Half an hour later, a black Volkswagen sedan drove out of the Pangu base.
The May sunshine in the capital was lovely, and the streets were bustling with traffic.
The two first went to Wangfujing, where the mall was crowded with people.
Lin Waner pulled Su Che into a clothing store, picked out a casual jacket, and held it up against him.
Su Che pinched the fabric of the jacket.
"Polyester blend," Su Che evaluated. "Poor breathability, its tensile strength is less than one ten-thousandth of carbon fiber nanotubes, and it will melt and stick to your skin if it encounters high temperatures."
The sales assistant stood nearby, unable to respond.
Lin Waner stuffed the jacket back onto the shelf and pulled Su Che out.
At noon, the two watched a movie on the top floor of the mall—a Hollywood sci-fi blockbuster.
The movie showed the protagonist piloting a spaceship through an asteroid belt.
Su Che leaned back in his seat and spoke; his voice wasn't loud, but the people next to him could hear it clearly.
"The attitude control thruster layout is unreasonable, the left cut angle is too large. Forcing a course change at this speed would cause the ship to disintegrate instantly."
On the screen, aliens used laser weapons to attack.
"Lasers are invisible in a vacuum," Su Che continued his critique. "And the charging time is too long; the energy conversion rate isn't even as good as the backup for Ame-no-Murakumo."
A young man in the front row turned around and glared at Su Che.
Lin Waner reached out and covered Su Che's mouth, shoving a bucket of popcorn into his arms.
"Just eat," Lin Waner whispered.
Su Che chewed on the popcorn and said nothing more.
Two o'clock in the afternoon, Happy Valley amusement park.
The roller coaster plummeted vertically from its highest point, the wind whistled, and everyone on the ride was screaming.
Su Che sat in the front row, silent, staring at the track connection ahead.
After the ride came to a stop, the passengers stumbled off, unsteady on their feet.
Lin Waner's legs felt a bit weak, and Su Che reached out to support her arm.
"The tilt angle design of the third turn is flawed," Su Che said, looking at the roller coaster track. "The centrifugal force exceeds the human comfort threshold, and the metal fatigue of the track steel is nearing its critical point."
Lin Waner glared at him.
"Are you going to calculate the friction coefficient of the bearings even when you ride a merry-go-round?" Lin Waner asked.
"If necessary, I can," Su Che answered very seriously.
Lin Waner shook off his hand and walked ahead; Su Che followed behind.
Four o'clock in the afternoon, snack street.
Lin Waner stopped in front of a fried skewer stall, where the owner skillfully tossed meat skewers into a deep fryer.
Oil splashed everywhere.
Su Che stood by, staring at the pot.
"The oil temperature is uneven," Su Che said, pointing at the bottom of the pot. "The center temperature exceeds two hundred degrees, while the edges are only one hundred and fifty. The meat skewers aren't heating evenly, and the Maillard reaction is insufficient."
The owner, holding long chopsticks, froze in place.
Lin Waner took out her phone to pay, took the skewers, and shoved one into Su Che's hand.
"Shut your mouth," Lin Waner said, taking a bite herself.
Su Che took a bite; the taste was indeed mediocre.
Five-thirty in the evening, Military Science Commission Compound, Expert Apartment.
The two returned to their room, and Su Che tossed his jacket onto the sofa.
Lin Waner walked to the corner, where a black suitcase was placed.
This was the suitcase they had brought back from the Shennong base in the Taklamakan Desert.
After returning to the capital, Su Che had buried himself in Pangu Laboratory, so they hadn't had time to fully unpack this suitcase.
Lin Waner unzipped it and took out the clothes inside.
At the very bottom of the suitcase, she dug out a silvery-white metal cylinder.
The metal cylinder looked like a thermos, its surface exuding a strong sense of high technology.
Lin Waner carried the metal cylinder to the coffee table and set it down.
Su Che walked over; he recognized this item.
This was the portable smart milk tea machine he had hand-crafted on the morning he went to see The Elder of the Dragon Country, using food-grade 316 stainless steel, a micro semiconductor cooling chip, and a high-precision pressure sensor.
"This thing has been gathering dust in the suitcase for over a month," Lin Waner said, looking at the metal cylinder. "Taken from the capital to the Great Northwest, and then brought back from the Great Northwest."
Su Che took Lin Waner's hand.
"I was too busy before," Su Che said.
He walked over to the TV cabinet, grabbed a bottle of purified water, and found black tea bags, pure milk, and white sugar from the cabinet nearby.
These were the daily supplies that Qin Lan had people replenish regularly.
Su Che put the ingredients into the metal cylinder according to the proportions, then closed the lid.
He connected the power.
He took out his phone and aimed it at the metal cylinder.
"Waner, Waner, make me a cup of milk tea," Su Che said.
The indicator light on the top of the metal cylinder flashed, the micro solenoid valve emitted a very faint hum, and the rapid heat exchange technology began to operate.
In less than a minute, a rich aroma of milk tea drifted out.
Su Che unplugged the power, opened the lid, and poured the milk tea into Lin Waner's cup.
"Thirty percent sugar, no ice," Su Che said, handing her the cup.
Lin Waner took the cup. She took a sip.
Warm, the sweetness was just right.
She looked at Su Che.
"It's good," Lin Waner said.
Su Che picked up his water glass and took a sip of plain water.
Seven-thirty in the evening, a high-level conference room somewhere in the capital.
Inside the central complex, the security level was raised to the highest.
The Elder of the Dragon Country sat at the head of the long conference table, with a celadon teacup in front of him.
Number Two sat on his left.
General Shen Wangchuan and Commander-in-Chief Wang Xueshan sat on the right.
Deputy Director Qin sat at the end of the long table, responsible for taking meeting minutes.
There was no one else in the conference room.
"The first phase has concluded," General Shen Wangchuan said, opening the folder in front of him. "All forty-six participating countries have signed the ceasefire and defense supplementary treaties. The deterrent power of the luan bird exceeded expectations."
The Elder picked up his teacup, brushed aside the floating tea leaves, but didn't drink.
"What does the Eagle side say?" The Elder asked.
"President Trump's special envoy is already on the way to the capital," Commander-in-Chief Wang Xueshan took over. "They have agreed to all six technical conditions set by Su Che, including lifting all technical restrictions and closing the fragment reverse-engineering facilities."
The Elder set down the teacup, the porcelain making a soft sound as it hit the table.
"Now that we have won, we get to set the rules," The Elder said in a calm tone.
He looked around at the people present.
"The Dragon Country reaching this position today is not due to luck," The Elder said, clasping his hands on the table. "It is due to the lives of the soldiers on the front lines and the hard work of the scientific researchers."
General Shen Wangchuan closed the folder and sat up straight.
The Elder took out a confidential document.
"Comrade Su has rendered a monumental service," The Elder said, looking at the words on the document. "The Nantianmen Project has forcibly lifted the Dragon Country into the ranks of the world's elite. We cannot be vague about what is owed to him."
He pushed the document to the center of the table.
"After our review and approval, we are officially awarding Comrade Su Che the dragon country qingtian medal."
The conference room was very quiet; the dragon country qingtian medal was the highest honor in the Dragon Country.
"At the same time, appoint Su Che as Special Advisor for Dragon Country Scientific Strategy," The Elder continued. "Ensure he receives the corresponding living and medical treatment of a top-tier national scholar."
Commander-in-Chief Wang Xueshan nodded; this treatment was well-deserved.
"Living support must also keep up," Number Two added. "The vacant exclusive courtyard in the Third Ring Road is specially approved for his new residence. The Ministry of State Security will be directly responsible for the security and logistics systems, deployed at the highest level."
Deputy Director Qin recorded rapidly at the end of the table, his pen tip rustling on the paper.
The Elder leaned back in his chair.
"And his father," The Elder looked at General Shen Wangchuan. "Launch the family preferential treatment program for Comrade Su Pingan back in his hometown. Make official contact and propose a plan to relocate him to the capital. We cannot have a hero risking his life on the front lines while his family is still suffering in the village."
General Shen Wangchuan responded loudly.
"Understood, I will handle it personally."
The Elder stood up, and everyone in the conference room stood up with him.
"Go prepare," The Elder said, walking out. "On the day the Nantianmen Project is fully implemented, I will go to award him the medal in person."
