121: Chapter 121 Descendants of the Ji Family

After the void mirror disappeared, a brief silence fell over the courtyard.

Chu Tianjiao withdrew his gaze and looked at Xiao Nannan.

Xiao Nannan was also looking at him.

Their gazes met in the air, both seeing the complexity in each other's eyes.

Chu Tianjiao reached out and gently held Xiao Nannan's hand.

“Nannan.”

He spoke softly.

“That mirror, do you still remember it?”

Xiao Nannan nodded.

“I remember.”

Her voice was very soft, yet it carried an indescribable tenderness.

“Teacher gave that to me.”

Chu Tianjiao smiled.

“Correct. Back then in Qingshi Town, when you were sixteen, I gave it to you.”

His gaze became distant, as if seeing a time long, long ago.

At that time, Xiao Nannan was still a shy little girl, clutching her brother's hem and hiding outside the private school's door. She always stole glances at him, yet didn't dare let him find out. She always carefully remembered every word he said, even if she couldn't understand them at all at the time.

Later, she grew up and became graceful and elegant. He gave her that mirror and had her wear a silver mask to hide that overly stunning face.

Even later, they were married.

Seven days after the wedding, he “died” before her.

That mirror became her only memento.

Chu Tianjiao withdrew his thoughts and looked at Xiao Nannan.

“That mirror followed you through the most difficult years.”

Xiao Nannan nodded.

“Yes. When I was on the Ancient Starry Sky Road, I always carried it. Every time I missed you and Brother, I would take it out and look at it.”

Her voice was soft, yet it carried a faint sadness.

“Later Brother ‘died’, and I buried the mirror by his side. Later, Brother took it out, refined it into a Great Saint Weapon, and gave it to the Ji Family's ancestor.”

Chu Tianjiao listened without speaking.

Xiao Nannan continued, “Later, it fought alongside Ji Xukong and became an imperial weapon of the extreme dao. It guarded the Ji Family for countless years, and guarded this world for countless years.”

She looked up at Chu Tianjiao.

“Teacher, do you know? I'm not sad at all.”

Chu Tianjiao looked at her.

Xiao Nannan smiled. The smile was faint, yet very gentle.

“It has already found its true master. It followed Ji Xukong and accomplished one great deed after another. It guarded the Human Race, guarded the myriad races, and guarded this world.”

“It did not fail the intention Teacher gave it.”

Chu Tianjiao looked at her, his eyes full of heartache and relief.

He reached out and gently rubbed her head.

“Silly girl.”

Xiao Nannan leaned on his shoulder and didn't speak again.

Willow Deity watched them quietly, a hint of a smile on her lips.

Ancient Kirin Emperor sat to the side, pouring himself a cup of enlightenment tea and savoring it slowly. He didn't speak, just listened quietly.

After the void mirror delved into the Void Realm, in just a moment, it appeared in the Southern Region of the Eastern Wasteland.

The Ji Family.

This was one of the oldest families in the Eastern Wasteland. Starting from the generation of Ji Yunshan and Ji Yunhai, the Ji Family had taken root in this land, passing down their Legacy and multiplying generation after generation until today.

The ancestral land of the Ji Family occupied a vast area, with layers of halls and misty Spiritual Qi. At this moment, it was late at night, but the Ji Family was still brightly lit, with people patrolling, some Cultivating, and others on guard.

The void mirror suspended above the Ji Family, quietly overlooking the land it had guarded for countless years.

It saw the Ji Family's ancestral hall, where the memorial tablets of ancestors from past generations were enshrined. At the very top were the tablets of the Ji Family's first ancestors, Ji Yunshan and Ji Yunhai. Below them were the names of the family heads of each generation.

It saw deep within the Ji Family's ancestral land, where there was an ancient stone chamber. The stone chamber was guarded by layers of Formations, and outsiders could not approach at all. In the center of the stone chamber, a massive piece of Divine Source stood quietly.

Within the Divine Source, a youth slept with his eyes closed.

The youth looked to be only fifteen or sixteen years old, with a delicate face, and the shadow of Ji Xukong could be faintly seen in his features. He wore ancient clothing, his hands crossed over his chest, breathing evenly as if he were asleep.

He was the child of the Void Emperor.

Ji Xukong had this son in his later years and named him Ji Zi. When the child was born, Ji Xukong was already old. He knew he wouldn't live much longer, and even more so, he knew that if this child remained outside, it would be difficult for him to grow up safely. So he had the child Sealed in Divine Source and entrusted him to the human emperor banner and the Ji Family, waiting for the day he should emerge.

This wait had lasted over four hundred thousand years.

The void mirror looked at the sleeping youth, a faint silver light rippling on the mirror's surface.

That light was very gentle, as if it were looking at its own child.

It had guarded Ji Xukong for a lifetime and witnessed that emperor's glory and tragedy. Now, it was to guard his child, watching him grow and watching him walk his own path.

The void mirror trembled slightly, and a silver light flew out from the mirror's surface, falling into the stone chamber.

The silver light touched the Divine Source, and the massive Divine Source trembled slightly.

Then, everything returned to peace.

The void mirror turned and transformed into a streak of light, disappearing into the night sky.

In Undying Mountain, Chu Tianjiao sat quietly.

His gaze passed through the barrier of Undying Mountain, through the endless Void Realm, and fell upon the Ji Family's ancestral land in the Southern Region of the Eastern Wasteland.

He saw that ancient stone chamber.

He saw that massive piece of Divine Source.

He saw the youth sleeping in the Divine Source.

“Ji Zi.”

He murmured softly.

That youth was the child of the Void Emperor.

A sleep of over four hundred thousand years, just to wait for the right moment to emerge.

Now, the time had come.

This era is the Golden Age, and countless Prodigies will rise to compete for that sole emperor's throne. Ye Fan will embark on this path, and Huo Liner and Huo Linzi will also embark on this path.

Ji Zi should also embark on this path.

He is the child of the Void Emperor, with the purest Emperor Blood flowing in his body. He has the qualification and the ability to compete for that supreme position.

Chu Tianjiao withdrew his gaze and looked at the void mirror on the stone table.

The mirror had already returned and was lying there quietly, with a faint silver light still remaining on its surface.

“You saw him?” Chu Tianjiao asked.

The void mirror trembled slightly, as if nodding.

Chu Tianjiao smiled.

“That's good.”

He paused and then said, “When the time is right, let him emerge. This era needs him.”

The void mirror trembled again, as if agreeing.

Chu Tianjiao didn't say anything more.

He looked up toward the depths of the starry sky.

There, the stars twinkled, and the galaxy spanned across.

There, a youth was beginning his path of Cultivation in the Spirit Void Grotto.

There, a youth was sleeping in Divine Source, waiting for the time to emerge.

There, two more youths were about to awaken from their sleep and embark on their own journeys.

This era is truly interesting.

Xiao Nannan leaned on his shoulder and asked softly, “Teacher, what are you thinking about?”

Chu Tianjiao looked down at her, a smile appearing on his lips.

“I'm thinking that this era will be very exciting.”

Xiao Nannan looked at him and smiled as well.

“Yes.”
