102: Chapter 102 The Tide Squad's Gift
Although he was unwilling to admit it, the speed at which he threw it was ultimately no match for the speed at which the Lizardman launched its own.
This feeling was very uncomfortable.
The instant the scale-spike flew out, the remaining five scale-spikes beside the Lizardman were launched simultaneously, intercepting it head-on.
BOOM...!!!
The ten scale-spikes collided in the air between the two.
The magic power stored within each scale-spike erupted simultaneously, and a series of violent explosions swept outward.
The shockwave was terrifyingly powerful; a small crater was instantly blasted into the ground below, sending debris flying everywhere.
Lin Fan's robe whipped violently in the gale, yet he remained as immovable as a mountain.
Aunt Mi Xue and the others had to stoop and crouch to barely steady themselves and avoid being blown away by the gale.
As the smoke and dust from the explosion dissipated, a massive deep crater appeared between Lin Fan and the Lizardman.
And beside the Lizardman, ten scale-spikes condensed once more!
A cold light flashed in Lin Fan's eyes.
Purple starlight emerged, condensing into a Star Array.
"Lightning Cage!"
The purple Star Array shone brilliantly.
Countless lightning vines shot out from within, sweeping toward the Lizardman.
The Lizardman looked up at the incoming lightning vines; it would never sit and wait for death.
Before the lightning vines could descend, the Lizardman moved.
It transformed into a blurred figure, appearing several meters away in an instant; its speed was no less than Lin Fan's limit when not using Lightning Flash.
The ten scale-spikes moved along with it, still hovering beside it.
Yet those lightning vines seemed to have eyes.
The moment it shifted position, they immediately changed direction, chasing it relentlessly.
The Lizardman was startled and transformed into a green afterimage once more, changing positions.
But the lightning vines followed closely behind.
Over the next two seconds, the Lizardman frantically changed positions dozens of times.
Yet the lightning vines were like maggots on a bone—impossible to shake off.
In the eyes of Aunt Mi Xue and the others, only afterimages remained; they could not keep up with the speed of the Lizardman and the lightning at all.
Helpless, the Lizardman could only control the ten scale-spikes to meet the lightning vines.
Explosions rang out one after another as the scale-spikes and lightning cancelled each other out.
Beneath the mask, Lin Fan's expression was calm.
He knew that if he utilized the Space Element, he could easily crush this Lizardman.
But in front of Aunt Mi Xue and the others, he could not expose himself.
"It seems I have no choice."
Lin Fan thought to himself as purple starlight appeared above his head once more.
This time, there were fifty of them, quickly condensing into two massive Star Arrays.
A domineering pressure instantly enveloped the entire area.
The two lightning Star Arrays overlapped, covering a massive range.
The destructive aura of the Lightning Element caused the small pebbles within the range of the Star Array to instantly crumble into fine sand.
Aunt Mi Xue and the others felt their hair stand on end and their bodies go numb.
A Tier 4 spell!
The Lizardman also sensed the terrifying aura emanating from the Star Arrays.
Realizing the danger instantly, it dared not linger any longer.
Whoosh! It rushed toward Lin Fan at extreme speed.
One hand condensed a scale-spike as thin as a long needle, stabbing out fiercely.
"Human... spell... slow."
Beneath Lin Fan's mask, a cold sneer curled the corners of his lips.
Slow? Unfortunately, that word simply did not apply to him, someone who possessed a system and could cast spells instantly.
He was a natural melee Mage.
The Lizardman rushed in front of Lin Fan almost instantly, the scale-spike only centimeters away from him.
If it were any other Mage, they would be in the middle of casting and would have no time to react.
Even if they managed to finish the spell, they would be struck by the scale-spike first.
Even if they chose to dodge, once the spellcasting was interrupted, it would take time to re-condense a Star Array.
But none of this applied to Lin Fan.
Just as the Lizardman thought it was about to succeed, the two Star Arrays above Lin Fan's head vanished instantly, and Lin Fan moved both hands at once.
Slap! One hand swatted the scale-spike away.
The other hand clamped tightly around the Lizardman's neck.
Lin Fan had long been wary of its speed and worried it would dodge his spells; he never intended to slowly whittle it down from a distance.
The Lizardman was shocked by this move, but before it could even resist, that terrifying pressure—which had vanished less than a second ago—descended once more.
The two Star Arrays formed instantly above their heads, completely engulfing them in purple light.
"Spear of Thunder." Lin Fan spoke softly, his smile cold beneath the mask.
BOOM! "Spear of Thunder!"
BOOM! "Spear of Thunder!"
BOOM! "Spear of Thunder!"
...
In the distance, Aunt Mi Xue, Captain Jin Tu, and the three Tier 3 Mages watched, their bodies numb and their eyes dazed.
Mr. Chen bombarded the area with one Spear of Thunder after another.
Every thunderous roar made their bodies tremble in unison.
For some reason, the three of them actually felt a sliver of sympathy for that Lizardman.
Ending up in Mr. Chen's hands was just too miserable.
They never knew that this lord could be so ruthless!
Captain Jin Tu's trembling was of a different nature.
Everyone knew that the stronger a Mage was, the more starlight there was in their soul sea, and the more starlight they needed to connect to guide magic power when casting.
The stronger the spell, the more starlight required, and the longer it took to connect them.
This was common knowledge for all Mages, understood even by apprentices who had just awakened.
Instant-casting a single Star Chart was nothing, but what about dual massive Star Arrays?
Even a powerhouse above Tier 3 would need several breaths of time to complete it, unless they had trained bitterly for decades.
Yet the Mr. Chen before them completely overturned common sense.
The Spear of Thunder, which required dual massive Star Arrays, was thrown out by him one after another, as casually as a Tier 1 minor spell.
Who could not be scared out of their wits after seeing two Star Arrays instantaneously manifest out of thin air?
This casting speed was unheard of!
Captain Jin Tu swallowed hard, his heart pounding wildly.
Another Spear of Thunder descended, the purple light swallowing both the Lizardman and Mr. Chen.
RUMBLE...!!!
The ground shook violently, as if it would split open at any moment.
The world was dyed in purple light, and the violent shockwave swept in all directions, forcing everyone to close their eyes.
A few seconds later, everything returned to calm.
The five of them opened their eyes and looked toward the center of the crater.
Mr. Chen stood there quietly, holding the limbless corpse of the Lizardman in his hand.
He had finally stopped.
The Lizardman was dead through and through.
"Truly tenacious; it is worthy of being a Metamorphic-tier Magic Beast. Its defense is even harder than a Dread Bear."
"That is normal; when I killed the Dread Bear, it hadn't fully stepped into the Metamorphic-tier yet."
Lin Fan muttered to himself.
A panel popped up, notifying him that he had gained ten experience points.
He sighed softly, turned around, and carried the charred corpse.
The Lizardman's corpse had been blasted beyond recognition by the Spear of Thunder.
It was hard to imagine that this had once been a Metamorphic-tier Magic Beast that struck fear across the region.
Lin Fan turned around and looked at the five people behind him.
All five of them were staring at him with dazed expressions, unable to even focus their eyes, like puppets that had lost their souls.
Lin Fan gave a casual toss, throwing the charred corpse toward Aunt Mi Xue.
Thud! The Magic Beast's corpse landed at Aunt Mi Xue's feet, but she did not react at all.
"These remains belong to you all..."
"Consider it a gift from me to the Wave Squad."
Lin Fan said, having deliberately altered his voice to make it unrecognizable.
