55: Chapter 55 Breaking Through Defense
Upon the boy's body,
The destructive magic unique to the thunder element suddenly erupted, his cloak snapping loudly in the fierce wind.
"Go! Beat him up!"
"Don't be too heavy-handed; he is a senior after all, hehe."
"Heavens, this is practically a guaranteed win! Why isn't he my opponent?"
"What's there to brag about when dealing with a loser?"
Various shouts rose and fell across the arena.
Most of them were waiting to see Lin Fan make a fool of himself.
Su Linlin and the Vice Principal were both watching the stage with rapt attention.
However, their purposes were completely different.
Su Linlin wanted to figure out exactly how Lin Fan had defeated her two subordinates back then;
The Vice Principal, on the other hand, was truly looking forward to Lin Fan's performance.
The teachers secretly felt pity for Lin Fan.
Looking at the setup, his opponent clearly had no intention of showing mercy.
Oh well, the worst that could happen is they'd step in promptly to ensure Lin Fan wasn't too badly injured.
Just as everyone was preoccupied with their own thoughts,
The third-year Thunder-element Boy had already summoned his Star Points and begun to condense a Star Pattern. His speed wasn't fast, taking roughly four seconds to complete.
However, at that moment, a calm voice suddenly rang throughout the venue.
"Telekinesis Control."
Everyone instinctively looked toward the source of the sound.
When they saw Lin Fan on the stage, their eyes nearly popped out of their sockets.
Lin Fan's eyes flickered with a silvery-white light.
His right hand slowly extended, fingers spread, pointing directly at his opponent.
In the next second,
The crowd saw The Thunder-element Boy being violently yanked off the ground by an invisible force and then slammed sideways.
His body flew through the air like a cannonball, out of control, crashing heavily onto the ground at the edge of the stage before bouncing several meters further.
Everyone: "..."
Two seconds... Lin Fan had actually completed the Star Pattern condensation in just two seconds!
The Vice Principal, Su Linlin, and the teachers who had been watching Lin Fan were all left dumbfounded by the scene.
"How... how is that possible? How can this be?!"
Su Linlin's shoulders trembled slightly as a storm of shock surged in her heart.
Lin Fan's casting speed was actually as fast as hers!
"This is getting more and more interesting."
The Vice Principal's lips curled up into a smile.
She saw it very clearly.
When Lin Fan condensed the Star Pattern, his expression was as relaxed as if he were simply eating or drinking.
That casting speed of less than two seconds seemed entirely trivial to him.
The entire arena fell into a deathly silence.
The students looked at each other, their gazes shifting back and forth between Lin Fan and The Thunder-element Boy who had been sent flying.
Lin Fan's eyes still shimmered with elemental light, and his right hand remained in a grasping posture.
As for his opponent,
The Thunder-element Boy was struggling to stand up, his entire body trembling violently.
He looked to be in severe pain.
A few seconds later,
The students finally snapped out of it, and the entire arena erupted into an uproar once again.
It was more intense than any previous instance.
"Lin... Lin Fan won?"
"How is that possible? How could that idiot lose to a loser?!"
"But his casting speed... I don't think I saw it clearly just now. Is he really just a newly promoted First-Order Mage?"
"Cheating! He must have cheated!"
The students' discussions were deafening.
Various voices of doubt and disbelief intertwined.
Many felt that Lin Fan's opponent had simply been too careless to lose so pathetically;
Others insisted that Lin Fan had definitely cheated and should be disqualified immediately.
They simply refused to accept the truth!
The light in Lin Fan's eyes gradually faded.
He lowered his arm and turned to look at the Referee Teachers, who were still standing there in disbelief.
Feeling Lin Fan's gaze, the two teachers finally snapped out of their daze.
One of them quickly ran over to check on the condition of The Thunder-element Boy who had been thrown.
The other cleared his throat and loudly announced the result of the match.
"Contestant Number 28 wins!"
As soon as the referee finished speaking, all eyes focused on Lin Fan.
This time, they were no longer the usual looks of disdain and mockery.
Instead, they were filled with shock and disbelief.
Faced with such gazes,
Lin Fan remained unfazed, turning to walk back toward his seat.
However, in his heart, he was already blooming with joy.
He was extremely satisfied with everyone's reaction.
He couldn't even help but think,
If he hadn't intentionally slowed down his Star Pattern condensation just now, would these people have been scared out of their wits?
"No! I don't accept this! I can't possibly lose to someone like him!"
Just then, a frustrated roar suddenly sounded from behind him.
The arena instantly went quiet as everyone's eyes turned toward the source of the voice.
Lin Fan also stopped and turned to look at the other end of the stage.
The Thunder-element Boy had barely managed to stand up with a teacher's support.
He actually staggered back onto the stage, his eyes bloodshot as he glared at Lin Fan, the hatred in his gaze almost overflowing.
A trace of blood hung from the boy's mouth, and his whole body was shaking.
He felt he had completely lost face and wished he could find a hole to crawl into.
How could he lose to this loser?
A piece of trash who hadn't improved for years and had been mocked by them countless times!
If he lost to someone like that, how could he continue to stay at the academy?
He had to defeat this loser senior and win back all his lost dignity!
The boy stared fixedly at Lin Fan, fire nearly spitting from his eyes.
He simply couldn't accept or understand his failure.
Just now, he had been leisurely condensing his Star Pattern.
But a powerful force had suddenly appeared out of thin air, grabbing him and yanking him off the ground.
He didn't even have time to struggle before being thrown away; the impact upon landing had almost knocked him out.
Recalling the scene, the boy felt both humiliated and aggrieved, so angry he nearly spat blood on the spot.
"Right, he must have cheated! He can't possibly condense a Star Pattern faster than me! I'm a top student in my class!"
"He must have secretly started condensing his Star Pattern before the referee even shouted start!"
The boy thought with certainty in his heart.
Even though this guess felt absurd even to himself,
He chose to believe it anyway.
Only then could he barely accept the fact that he had lost to Lin Fan.
"I demand a rematch! He definitely cheated! I want to fight him again!"
The boy pushed away the teacher beside him and approached Lin Fan step by step.
The magic within him slowly rose, and purple electric arcs crackled around his body.
Lin Fan raised an eyebrow and slowly lifted his left hand from beneath his cloak, pointing his finger directly at the boy.
His eyes once again glowed with a silvery-white light.
