26: Chapter 26 Brother, where are you going?

It was as if his inability to break through for so long was his own fault.

The original host must have been waiting a long time to hear those words.

"Why are you crying?"

Father's sudden question pulled Lin Fan back to reality.

He froze, reached up to touch his cheek, and felt moisture on his fingertips.

"Why am I crying?"

Lin Fan was also a bit bewildered.

He clearly wasn't sad; in fact, he felt warm inside.

Yet, tears couldn't stop streaming down.

"It's nothing, thanks, Dad."

Lin Fan said, wiping his tears with the back of his hand.

Father stared at him.

A barely perceptible smile curled the corners of his mouth, vanishing in an instant.

He stood up, walked over to Lin Fan, and gently patted his shoulder.

"Son, keep working hard."

"If you need anything at the academy, just tell me, and Dad will definitely find a way to get it for you."

Father finished speaking in a solemn tone and then turned to leave.

Lin Fan looked at his father's retreating back, his heart filled with mixed emotions.

In the end, he could only sigh softly and stand up to return to his room.

Just as he was about to walk out of the living room, his mother suddenly appeared.

"Don't mind your dad and his reticent nature; he's just not good at expressing himself."

"By the way, don't tell him I said this... when I told him you had broken through, he cried secretly for a long time."

Mother said with a soft laugh.

She deliberately lowered her voice for the last sentence.

"Alright, go back to your room. Young mages need plenty of rest."

She gently touched Lin Fan's face.

She smiled and turned to leave, not giving him any chance to reply.

As she returned toward the kitchen, Lin Fan could still hear her laughter.

"Sure enough, some things never change."

Lin Fan muttered to himself.

His mother's actions reminded him of his mother in his previous life.

"Young mages need plenty of rest? But I'm a Tier 2 Mage now; it doesn't matter if I don't sleep for a few days."

Lin Fan thought to himself and silently made a decision.

He would stay up all night reading.

Not a single second could be wasted.

He had to seize the time to earn experience points!

The next morning, exactly at six o'clock...

[Ding, task completed, gained 5 experience points!]

[Daily Tasks]

[Read books related to mana circulation, progress 17/10]

[Read books related to magical beasts, progress 16/10]

[Weekly Task completed!]

[Read books, progress 33/10]

[Reward: 30 experience points!]

When Lin Fan closed the last book, a series of notification sounds popped up before his eyes.

In eight full hours, he had stayed up all night and finished reading thirty-three books.

Thanks to his strength having already advanced to the Tier 2 Mage realm.

Even after staying up all night, Lin Fan didn't feel sleepy or exhausted at all.

He even felt like he could pull a few more all-nighters!

After putting the books away, Lin Fan silently chanted to bring up the system panel in his mind, and the panel immediately appeared before his eyes.

[supreme path system (Glitch Version)]

[Host: Lin Fan]

[Level: 8]

[Experience points required for upgrade: 215/100 (Glitch)]

[Realm: Tier 2 Mage, Initial Stage]

[Elemental Attributes: Space, Lightning]

[Special Abilities:]

[Dual-Element Constitution: The host can control two types of elemental power simultaneously.]

[Void Walk: The host can traverse the void between two fixed points (cannot change direction during traversal), the traversal distance depends on the host's strength.]

[Aura Camouflage: The host can conceal their true realm and disguise as a lower realm (the disguised realm cannot be higher than the true realm).]

[Spell Creator: The host can consume experience points to forge spells related to their own elements. The experience points consumed for forging will be determined by the system based on spell intensity!]

[Special Items:]

[omniscient mask: The host masters Tier 3 appraisal knowledge and can conceal themselves, avoiding scrutiny from others.]

[deterrence pendant: The host can trigger the high-level mage pressure contained within the pendant (the pressure intensity is two realms higher than the target object!).]

[undying robe: Can withstand a full-strength blow from any powerhouse below the Saint Mage realm.]

Lin Fan's gaze fell on the experience points column, and he couldn't help but sigh.

Reading all night for eight hours, he had gained a total of 195 experience points. Adding the 10 points remaining from before, he finally reached this current number.

"If these eight hours had been used to hunt magical beasts, the experience points would definitely be much more than this."

"Gaining experience from reading is just too slow."

Lin Fan muttered to himself, then immediately chose to upgrade the system without hesitation.

In an instant, 200 experience points were consumed, and the system leveled up twice!

[Ding! System level increased, Level 8 → Level 10!]

[Realm increased, Tier 2 Mage Initial Stage → Intermediate Stage → Late Stage!]

Lin Fan could clearly feel the changes happening inside his body. Although the effect of this upgrade was far less significant than when he leveled up multiple times before, he could still perceive that the mana within his body had become more robust. The scope of his soul sea had also expanded accordingly.

"System." He called out in a low voice.

[supreme path system (Glitch Version)]

[Host: Lin Fan]

[Level: 10]

[Experience points required for upgrade: 15/100 (Glitch)]

[Realm: Tier 2 Mage, Late Stage]

[Elemental Attributes: Space, Lightning]

[Special Abilities:]

[Dual-Element Constitution: The host can control two types of elemental power simultaneously.]

[Void Walk...]

Lin Fan quickly scanned the panel; all the changes were within his expectations. There was no extra reward for this upgrade. Although he had some expectations, he wasn't disappointed.

"Still 15 experience points left." Lin Fan muttered under his breath.

The reduction in experience points didn't discourage him. Instead, it made him even more motivated and fired up. He planned to go outside the city to train again today and could harvest another wave of experience points!

"I hope I don't need to forge new spells today, and just keep the experience points for upgrading."

Lin Fan climbed out of bed while talking to himself.

Over an hour later, Lin Fan, wearing a simple jacket and shorts, stood at his doorway. He didn't bring the old backpack from yesterday. The adventurer identification card was tucked in his pocket. Everything was ready, and he could depart at any time!

But just as he was about to speak and say he was leaving, a puzzled voice came from behind him.

"Big Brother, where are you going so early?"

Lin Fan paused his steps and turned to look. He saw Lin Duo wearing a pale yellow loungewear dress, standing at the top of the stairs. Her wet little hands indicated she had just finished helping to wash the dishes.

"Oh, I'm going out again; it might be like yesterday, and I'll be back late."

Lin Fan answered truthfully. But as soon as he finished speaking, he saw Lin Duo's expression change instantly from curiosity to anger.
