123: Chapter 123 Rescuing the Children

The woman's expression instantly became incredibly hideous.

Everyone else was also filled with shock.

"On what grounds are you arresting me?!"

She roared.

"You've repeatedly refused to cooperate with our investigation. We have ample reason to suspect you are a member of the Dark Alliance."

"Rest assured, after you're in custody, we will conduct a private examination to prove your innocence."

Jiang Tianhai replied coldly.

The Alliance Adventurers immediately closed in on the woman.

Seeing this, the woman's face twisted completely as she stumbled back repeatedly.

Suddenly, she turned and bolted at full speed.

"Don't let her escape!"

At Jiang Tianhai's command, the Adventurers immediately gave chase.

"Stay back!"

The woman screamed and waved her hands.

Two dark shadows suddenly lunged from the darkness, pouncing on the Alliance Adventurers.

It was Dark Magic Beasts!

The appearance of the Demonic Beasts caused an uproar.

The Adventurers reacted quickly, narrowly avoiding the Demonic Beast's long-armed attacks.

"The evidence is conclusive; she is indeed with the Dark Alliance!"

A cold light flashed in Jiang Tianhai's eyes. "Wei Donglin, you stay here. I'll pursue her!"

With that, he chased after the woman in the direction she had fled.

The Alliance Adventurers remained behind to deal with the Dark Magic Beasts.

Wei Donglin nodded and turned to order the officers to arrest all three of the woman's attendants.

The scene descended into total chaos.

As it turned out, it wasn't just this woman.

Several people took the opportunity to try and break through the perimeter and escape, including mages and ordinary people.

They were all members of the Dark Alliance, hoping to use the chaos to slip away.

But Wei Donglin was quick-eyed and swift-handed, identifying them one by one for the Alliance Adventurers to apprehend.

What drove the Dark Alliance members to even greater despair...

...was that the various Adventuring Teams watching the scene actually joined forces to round them up.

Everyone was well aware of the Dark Alliance's atrocities and hated them to the core!

For a moment, Spells flew everywhere as battle erupted.

Multiple Dark Alliance members summoned Dark Magic Beasts, and the situation spiraled completely out of control.

While the fierce battle raged on the surface, deep underground...

Lin Fan finally reached the bottommost level.

The very place where the children were being held.

Standing in the Observation Room, he looked down through a massive glass window at the wide platform below.

Having fought his way there...

Lin Fan could no longer remember how many Dark Alliance members or Dark Magic Beasts he had taken down.

The only slight pity was that killing Dark Magic Beasts didn't grant any experience.

Yet, along the way, he had slaughtered at least a hundred of them!

This place was practically a den for Dark Magic Beasts.

Besides clearing out the members of the Dark Alliance...

Lin Fan had also rescued over forty people they had imprisoned.

As he moved through this area...

his loathing for the Dark Alliance grew even stronger.

He had broken into several rooms.

The sights inside almost made him vomit on the spot.

Fortunately, his physical control was exceptional, allowing him to remain calm.

But this did nothing to stop his hatred for the Dark Alliance from skyrocketing.

Mutilated corpses, scattered bones, shredded meat, and organs were almost entirely decomposed.

They emitted a stench foul enough to make one pass out.

The scene looked as if it had been cut directly from a horror movie.

And the cause of all this...

was that the Dark Alliance used the living people they captured as fodder to feed those Dark Magic Beasts...

to be eaten alive!

Lin Fan could only pray silently in his heart, wishing that the deceased would find peace in the next life.

Returning to the present...

Lin Fan looked down from the Observation Room.

His gaze fell upon the children on the platform.

Only a few were awake; the rest were either in a deep sleep or had already lost consciousness.

He could see the shallow wounds and bruises on their bodies; each one looked incredibly pitiful.

Fortunately, they were all still alive.

Lin Fan raised a finger and lightly tapped on the Observation Room's glass window.

His fingertip met the glass with a low, dull thud, but nothing happened afterward.

Lin Fan raised an eyebrow, somewhat surprised.

He had thought that with a casual tap...

the glass would shatter. He hadn't expected the material to be so extraordinary.

He decided to increase his strength and struck it hard again, but the glass still didn't budge.

Lin Fan: "..."

Just how hard was this glass?

He didn't give up. Suddenly gathering his strength, he smashed a fist against the glass.

Bang...!

Having endured Lin Fan's punch...

the glass could no longer hold out and instantly shattered into countless shards.

They sprayed through the air and scattered onto the platform below.

The commotion startled the children below.

They all looked up in terror, watching the rain of glass.

Many were so frightened they closed their eyes and screamed.

Others huddled tightly in the corners of their Glass Cages, curling into balls.

The glass shards fell quickly.

They struck the numerous transparent cages holding the children, scattering everywhere.

Luckily, these cages were just as sturdy, protecting the children and preventing anyone from being injured.

"Oops."

Lin Fan thought to himself.

Showering the platform with glass shards hadn't been part of his plan; fortunately, no one was hurt in the end.

Once everything settled down...

Lin Fan leaped down from the Observation Room and landed lightly on the platform.

Every gaze instantly focused on him.

From somewhere, the sound of a young child crying rang out.

They wailed for their parents, while the older children stared at him with tension and fear.

They all thought Lin Fan was one of their kidnappers.

Lin Fan didn't speak immediately.

Instead, he scanned the small faces one by one, as if looking for someone.

The platform where the children were held was very flat.

The Glass Cages were like transparent pillars, allowing him to see everyone at a glance.

Soon, he found his target.

A little girl about eight years old, her short orange hair covered in dust.

Her thin arms were marked with faint bruises, and her clothes were tattered as she sat on the ground crying out for her father.

At a glance, one could see she was missing two upper front teeth.

It was Lin Hu's daughter!

Lin Fan still remembered from the photo Lin Hu had shown him...

what the child looked like.

Looking at the bedraggled little girl before him...

she was a far cry from the happy, joyful child in the photo.

A bitter smile tugged at the corner of Lin Fan's mouth.

Damn the Dark Alliance!

He slowly walked up to the girl's Glass Cage.

He knelt on one knee, watching her through the glass.

The little girl noticed him and cried even harder.

She scrambled desperately toward the other end of the cage.

"Don't be afraid. I know your father; he sent me to pick you up."

Lin Fan's voice was extremely soft.

Hearing this, the girl's crying stopped abruptly, and she looked up at him.

The mask still frightened her.

But she still slowly approached him.

"Do... do you really know my daddy?"

She blinked her round, cute eyes.

"Yes, he's outside taking care of some things. I'll take you to him."

Lin Fan replied.

An expression of joy immediately appeared on the little girl's face.

She nodded vigorously, like a chick pecking at grain.

Her large eyes welled up, looking as if she were about to cry again.

The children nearby heard their conversation and began calling out to Lin Fan for help, hoping he would rescue them as well.

Lin Fan didn't respond; instead, he set to work opening the cages, letting the children out one by one...

He didn't intend to leave anyone behind.

While rescuing the children,

he also kept an eye on the situation outside.
