68: Chapter 68 Training Room

Stepping out of the Alliance, Yao Dong was already waiting by the car. Seeing them, he immediately walked up to meet them.

"So fast? As expected of the captain."

Yao Dong offered a smiling compliment, then turned his gaze to Lin Fan, "Right, I haven't asked your name yet."

"Lin Fan."

"Lin Fan, huh? Not bad. Welcome to the world of explorers."

"The captain will take you on your first mission very soon. Don't be afraid; there are many seniors in the team who will protect you, and I will too."

Yao Dong blinked.

Lin Fan thanked him without saying much else.

"Ugh, stop chatting. Let's go; I'm dying of sleepiness."

Aunt Mi Xue stretched to the side, her full curves nearly bursting through her clothes.

Lin Fan saw it and immediately looked away.

"Damn, this woman is definitely doing it on purpose!"

Yao Dong also saw it. He chuckled softly and signaled for Lin Fan to get into the car.

After the three of them got in, the car drove away from the Alliance.

On the way back, Lin Fan asked them where they were going. It was Yao Dong who answered him. He had known all along that most expedition teams had their own exclusive bases. Some even had the team members live together. Where they were going now was the Tide Expedition Team headquarters.

The Wave Squad's base was located in the wealthy district of Baiyun City. Although it wasn't the most top-tier area, the environment was hundreds of times better than the suburbs where Lin Fan lived.

The buildings were brand new and towering, the roads were smooth, and the streetlights were orderly. The greenery along the roadside was trimmed with great precision; it was simply a different world compared to the suburbs.

On the way, Yao Dong patiently introduced the team situation to Lin Fan. Like most expedition teams, most members lived at the headquarters. There were twenty-one people in total, and with Lin Fan, that made twenty-two.

They would accept a certain number of missions from the Alliance every week, and once a week, they would leave the city to hunt down and exterminate magical beasts.

Alliance missions were generally carried out in groups to ensure they were completed as quickly as possible. This was standard practice for all expedition teams.

As for the outings to hunt beasts, they would choose to act alone or cooperate with other teams based on intelligence, and then split the spoils afterward.

"Come to think of it, you could say you're lucky, or perhaps unlucky," Yao Dong said. "The day after tomorrow is the scheduled day for the city-outting hunt, and you have to go with us."

"You can see for yourself how mages hunt magical beasts and gain experience, but you will also face danger directly."

"But don't worry, as long as you don't panic and stay close to us, you'll be fine."

Yao Dong assumed Lin Fan had never seen a living magical beast before and worried that he would be scared out of his wits the first time. This kind of thing was very common among newcomers.

Lin Fan nodded and thanked him again, though he felt the timing was just right. The day after tomorrow was Saturday, so he didn't have to go to the academy and could just leave with them.

"Although I would prefer to go out as 'Chen Ping' since that would be faster for grinding experience and making money, following them isn't bad either. There's pay, and it helps with paying off debts," Lin Fan thought to himself.

Before long, the car stopped in front of the squad's base. Lin Fan got out and looked at the three-story building. A huge [RWGB] sign was hanging on the second floor—it was the logo of the Tide Expedition Team. He marveled inwardly, thinking it was very impressive.

"Let's go. I've been out too long, and I want to sleep." Aunt Mi Xue walked toward the entrance and said to the two men. Lin Fan and Yao Dong followed.

Yao Dong leaned closer to Lin Fan and lowered his voice, "Hey, what's your relationship with the captain?" Judging by his expression, he was purely curious and meant no harm.

"My mother's friend," Lin Fan answered simply.

"Oh, I see." Yao Dong nodded, paused, and then asked, "By the way, what is your element?"

"Space Element."

Yao Dong: "..." Lin Fan noticed Yao Dong suddenly stop in his tracks. Looking back, he saw him standing there as if petrified, eyes wide, staring fixedly at him. Lin Fan looked puzzled.

"Wh-what's wrong?" This sound finally brought Yao Dong back to his senses. He gasped, then quickly caught up to Lin Fan.

"Space Element? For real? You are way too lucky!" Yao Dong was purely stunned into rigidity.

How rare was the Space Element? Unless one used an astronomically priced Element Concentration Awakening Stone, it was almost impossible to awaken. With a population of over a million in Baiyun City, there were fewer than a hundred Space Element awakeners!

Upon learning that Lin Fan actually possessed such a rare element, Yao Dong was both surprised and delighted... This person was now part of their team!

The two reached the entrance. Yao Dong pushed the door open and let Lin Fan go in first. "Welcome to the Tide!" Yao Dong said with a smile from behind, closing the door behind him.

Before Lin Fan's eyes was a simply furnished yet incredibly spacious living room. There were three large sofas with a circular glass coffee table in the middle. The indoor temperature was much cooler than outside, and the walls were so white they glimmered slightly.

Although the decor was simple, to Lin Fan, it was still incredibly novel, making him marvel inwardly... Compared to the living room at home, this place was like another world.

Yao Dong ushered him in to sit down. Aunt Mi Xue headed straight for the staircase in the corner and went upstairs to rest, temporarily leaving Lin Fan in Yao Dong's care. Yao Dong took on this task very seriously.

He immediately started introducing the layout of the building to Lin Fan. The first floor was where they were currently—the living room, kitchen, dining room, and a storage room.

The second floor was the members' bedrooms; everyone had an independent room and a private bathroom. Yao Dong reminded Lin Fan not to be fooled by the building's exterior size, as the interior space was actually shockingly large, with more empty rooms than he could imagine.

As for the third floor, it contained all sorts of training rooms. As soon as Lin Fan heard this, he became interested and planned to find an opportunity to check them out.

"Those training rooms are all reinforced with magic arrays; they can withstand even the attacks of a Tier 3 Mage," Yao Dong said. "When training, feel free to go all out. Only by pushing yourself to the limit can you truly improve."

Lin Fan nodded and asked him to tell him more about the details of the training rooms. Yao Dong was happy to share.

One of them was a gravity room, equipped with a magic array that could adjust the internal gravity at will, applying immense pressure to those inside. Under such pressure, whether one was moving their body or sitting in meditation, it could temper a mage's endurance and willpower. One could choose to resist with magic power or rely solely on their physical body until reaching the limit. Of course, the gravity intensity could be adjusted freely, so there was no need to worry about being unable to bear it all at once.

Another was the elemental power testing room, which contained dummies of various defensive levels. The highest defensive strength reached the level of a Tier 3 Mage—equivalent to a living Tier 3 target. After setting the defense level, one could attack the dummy with spells and try to destroy it.

There was also another type of training room where the dummies would actively counterattack, forcing the mage to practice dodging, which was used to improve combat reaction speed and the ability to control spellcasting timing. Listening to Yao Dong's introduction, Lin Fan became increasingly fascinated by the training rooms. He couldn't help but think to himself: if a small expedition team had such training facilities, what about those large organizations?
