Chapter 60 Abandoned Warehouse

"Is everything I asked for ready?"

The items?

Andrew Smith carefully recalled the list: a dog, towels, bottled water, gasoline drums, table salt, and wire brushes. Everything seemed to be prepared.

These bodyguards didn't know why their boss wanted these things, nor did they know their purpose, but they would certainly follow his instructions to the letter.

Fortunately, these were all common household supplies, so gathering them was quite easy.

Only the dog had been a bit of a hassle, as Wang Xiuyuan had specifically requested an adult male dog, and the larger the better.

There was no time to get a puppy and raise it, so they had to adopt a full-grown one from a stray dog rescue center.

Originally, the staff at the rescue center wanted to slowly vet their qualifications and have them fill out several complicated forms.

But after Holt quietly slipped the staff member a few franklins, the man—whose face had been screaming 'I'm in a bad mood'—instantly did a 180-degree turn. He led Holt directly to the kennels to pick whichever dog he wanted and even thoughtfully helped Holt load the dog into the car afterward.

As for the mandatory process of vetting the adopter's qualifications and filling out forms, it had long been crushed to pieces by those crisp, green franklins.

After confirming all the items Wang Xiuyuan requested were ready, Andrew Smith replied affirmatively, "Boss, everything is prepared. They were sent over this afternoon."

Having received a positive response, Wang Xiuyuan stood up and walked out the door... The vehicle carrying Hu Zhenxiang finally drove into an abandoned warehouse. Once the SUV came to a stop, the men in black guarding the warehouse opened the trunk and dragged Hu Zhenxiang out.

One of the men grabbed Hu Zhenxiang by the collar, dragged him a few meters, and tossed him carelessly onto the ground. The rough landing left Hu Zhenxiang's head spinning.

When he finally regained his senses, he was horrified to find that many key members of his gang and their families had been brought here. Even his own wife and two children were among the crowd.

"Mmmph! Mmmph! Mmmph!"

Hu Zhenxiang struggled to make muffled sounds, trying to greet his wife and children this way.

In truth, it was unnecessary; from the moment he had been dragged out of the trunk and thrown onto the ground, his wife and children had already recognized him. They were currently greeting him in the exact same manner.

People are always like this: only when facing a life-and-death crisis or a final parting do they realize the importance of family and loved ones.

Hu Zhenxiang used every ounce of strength to wriggle over to his family, touching his forehead against his wife's and children's one by one. Perhaps he was trying his best to soothe their panic and terror; it was likely the only thing he could do now.

As time passed, more and more people were brought in. Even some retired gang elders and their families had been kidnapped and brought here.

The panic in Hu Zhenxiang's heart grew deeper. From the moment he was kidnapped, he had been reflecting on his actions over the years, but he simply couldn't recall when he had ever offended such a powerful figure with such far-reaching influence.

To be able to quietly kidnap all the key members of the massive Peace Gang and their families overnight was absolutely not something an ordinary gang could achieve.

If there wasn't official government support behind this, how could Hu Zhenxiang possibly believe such nonsense?

When he saw a luxury Mercedes-Benz drive into the warehouse, Hu Zhenxiang knew that the truth behind tonight's events was about to be revealed.

Like his bodyguards, Wang Xiuyuan wore a black balaclava, a black tactical suit, and black gloves, all for the purpose of fully disguising himself.

He had seen many TV shows and movies. What was the reason so many big shots eventually failed? Wasn't it because they were careless and acted recklessly!

Wang Xiuyuan would not make such a low-level mistake.

Clearly, wearing a mask could effectively prevent someone from capturing evidence of his crimes, yet those big shots insisted on looking cool, exposing their highly recognizable faces for others to film.

Clearly, wearing gloves or having subordinates do the killing could avoid leaving fingerprints on the murder weapon, yet those big shots not only did it themselves but insisted on holding the weapons with bare hands.

Even then, after the killing, they wouldn't wipe the fingerprints off the weapon and would just toss the evidence of murder anywhere they thought no one was looking.

Such behavior seemed incredibly stupid, yet many people did exactly that. As a smart man, Wang Xiuyuan naturally wouldn't make such foolish errors.

Wang Xiuyuan looked at Hu Zhenxiang, who was huddled with his family, with a look of contempt. If his face hadn't been covered by the black mask, everyone in the warehouse would have noticed just how much he despised these Chinese gang members.

"Are you Hu Zhenxiang? Do you know why I kidnapped all the key leaders of your Peace Gang and brought you here?"

"I don't. Brother, feel free to speak plainly. Right now, we're just meat on your chopping block. Whether we live or die depends on your whim. I only hope you'll let us die knowing why."

Though Hu Zhenxiang was a bit dazed, even in this perilous situation, his attitude remained neither humble nor arrogant when facing Wang Xiuyuan.

"When things are unjust, someone will intervene; when the road is uneven, someone will level it."

"Over the years, you and your subordinates have committed every kind of evil. Countless families have been destroyed by your hands. My friends and I are among your victims."

"It's only reasonable that I've come back to collect on that debt, isn't it?"

Wang Xiuyuan's words were pure nonsense. He had no such friends, and he was hardly a victim; this was merely an excuse.

He couldn't exactly come out and ask Hu Zhenxiang if Wang Lie had hired him to beat him up. Who would admit to something without evidence? Especially when their entire family's lives were on the line.

He just wanted to kill these people to earn some system points; these excuses were only to mislead his bodyguards.

No one wants to work for a boss who is cold-blooded and kills without a second thought, unless they have no other choice.

After hearing Wang Xiuyuan's words, Hu Zhenxiang didn't offer any explanation. Instead, he calmly began to reason with him.

"Then that makes sense. Actually, this is for the best."

"At first, I thought I had accidentally offended some big shot and suffered this calamity as a result. Now that I've heard you say you're here for revenge, I feel much better."

"An eye for an eye—that's fair."

"Since the day we started this life, we've been prepared to end up dead in the streets at any time. Besides, every one of us has blood on our hands. We deserve whatever miserable end we get."

"But our families are innocent. Could you please spare them?"

"They haven't committed any crimes."

(Yesterday's extra chapters were repeatedly flagged for review. I had to edit them over a dozen times and eventually delete large sections just to get them passed. It's left me feeling quite frustrated, so there are only two chapters today.)
