12: Chapter 12 Encirclement and Suppression
"Boom!"
A dull thud echoed as two streams of energy collided, kicking up ripples. Dust billowed like smoke, engulfing the surroundings.
"Hmph, you dare to go head-to-head with me? It seems your own tempering of the physical body has reached a certain level!"
Seeing that Hun Tiandi had only sustained a minor injury, Captain Wentao said in surprise.
One must know that cultivating the physical body involves far greater pain than cultivating Dou Qi. Looking at the youth's fair complexion, it was hard to imagine that he was also someone who had trained his body.
"Pfft!"
Suddenly, Captain Wentao spat out a mouthful of blood, his face deathly pale. The force of that previous punch had invaded his body, shattering his meridians and rupturing his internal organs. If not for the tenacious vitality of a nine-star Dou Practitioner, he likely would have died from that single blow.
"Brat, attacking from the shadows, you have no martial honor!" Captain Wentao said resentfully.
He lay on the ground, twitching incessantly.
Hun Tiandi forcefully suppressed his churning blood, shook his arm which had been numbed by the impact, and strode away.
"Ah..."
Captain Wentao screamed repeatedly. His limbs had been shattered by Hun Tiandi, and he lay limp on the ground with a face full of hatred.
"Brat, the Young Leader won't let you off!" Captain Wentao cursed.
"I won't let him off either!" Hun Tiandi smashed his fist into his head, retrieved his storage ring, and turned to leave the camp.
After killing Captain Wentao, a trace of bright red blood trickled from the corner of his mouth. Killing a nine-star Dou Practitioner was not without its cost.
"Roar!"
In the blink of an eye, magical beasts appeared in the dark night, having caught the scent of the thick blood, and began to devour the human flesh.
None of this had anything to do with him.
Early morning, the rising sun nourished all things.
In the valley, a man and a woman finished healing, put away the white bones, and exchanged a glance. The two began hunting down the mercenaries wearing wolf-head badges.
At the edge of the mountain range, Tiangang led a team of mercenaries into the dense forest.
It instantly made the silent forest lively.
Not long after, arriving at the camp, Tiangang looked toward the source of the strong blood scent, his expression extremely cold.
"Go see if there are any survivors!" Tiangang said coldly.
"Captain Wentao, where are you?" a mercenary shouted. There was no response, and he gripped the iron hammer in his hand tightly.
"Captain Wentao... has been killed by someone?"
He had been gnawed to pieces by magical beasts; one could only tell from his clothing that this person was a captain of the Sky Wolf Mercenary Group. He had been killed last night and his corpse left out in the wilderness.
"Yun Tian?" Tiangang was furious. He gave orders to spread out and search for that brat, and to fire a signal once they spotted him.
"Yes!" The subordinate mercenaries acknowledged the order and dispersed in all directions.
Now, Tiangang felt more wariness toward Hun Tiandi. It had only been a month since entering the Tianmu Mountain Range, yet his strength had skyrocketed so much.
Not only had he killed the mercenaries of the Sky Wolf Mercenary Group, but even Captain Wentao had been done in.
"This brat absolutely cannot be left alive!" Tiangang gritted his teeth, his eyes red.
In the valley, Hun Tiandi sat cross-legged, swallowed a healing pill, and recovered from his injuries.
He formed seals with his hands, and faint streams of white energy from the depths of the void swirled around him, merging into Hun Tiandi's body.
His entire person radiated a pure white light, and his delicate face appeared crystalline and translucent.
Hun Tiandi, in secluded healing, was unaware that outside, the winds of change were blowing and the slaughter had begun anew.
"Wolf-head badge?"
The Blue-robed Youth looked at the scattered mercenaries, wearing wolf-head badges on their chests, vigilantly searching for something.
"Senior Brother, it seems they are the ones who killed our Junior Brother?" the Pink-robed Girl said coldly, her entire being radiating an icy aura.
"Kill!"
Two figures, one blue and one pink, darted out from the vegetation. Pale blue Dou Qi poured onto their longswords, rippling like water waves.
Carrying boundless rainwater, a sword pierced through the chest of the mercenary on the left. The sword was so fast that the mercenary hadn't even reacted.
"Who are you?"
The mercenary on the right demanded, but the response he received was a snow-white, cold sword blade, as pink sword Qi flashed across his throat.
A single blade severed his throat!
The Pink-robed Girl's cold, beautiful face and full curves radiated a seductive charm.
Those with weak willpower could easily be swayed.
"Continue!"
The Blue-robed Youth was full of killing intent; daring to lay a hand on Starfall Pavilion, they must have eaten the bear gall of an Earth Demon Bear.
His figure flashed as he searched for targets.
The Pink-robed Girl followed closely behind. They knew that even if they avenged the Young man in white, they would not escape punishment upon returning to Starfall Pavilion.
Nothing else, the Young man in white was the Pavilion Master's favorite youngest son, whom he treasured dearly in daily life.
The two from Starfall Pavilion hunted the Sky Wolf Mercenary Group mercenaries with astonishing speed. The Blue-robed Youth was a three-star Dou Master, and the Pink-robed Girl was a one-star Dou Master.
Joining forces to deal with seven or eight-star Dou Practitioners was merely a one-sided slaughter.
Half a day later, in the camp.
"Has anyone returned to report?" Tiangang sat upright in his tent, a bad premonition arising in his heart.
"Young Leader, there is no news yet!" The black-clad middle-aged man who spoke was the strategist by his side.
Tiangang nodded slightly.
In the dense forest, with thick branches and leaves, a few mercenaries were angrily searching for traces of Hun Tiandi.
"Damn it, where did this brat hide?"
A thin mercenary was impatient, waving the large blade in his hand, cutting through the thorns.
"Pfft!"
A blue figure leaped out from the jungle. With a cold, sharp blade, he leaped high and slashed down from the air, cutting the man in two with a single sword strike.
"Szzzt!"
A sharp, piercing shriek shot into the sky. A red signal intertwined in the air to form a giant wolf head, visible for a radius of ten miles.
The Pink-robed Girl's movement technique was mysterious. She ambushed the remaining two, a flash of cold light exploding. Before the two mercenaries could react, they were directly finished off; her actions were extremely swift.
The two continued to encircle and pursue the mercenaries, killing over twenty mercenaries in a single day.
"Not good, Junior Sister, let's go! The signal will attract the surrounding mercenaries, and we will be in danger of being encircled!"
The Blue-robed Youth's expression changed, and he said anxiously.
The reason the two fled was that they were unaware that the Sky Wolf Mercenary Group had experts exceeding the three-star Dou Master level.
They turned and ran.
Vaguely, figures could be seen flying through the dense forest, and signals were shooting up into the sky one after another.
At this moment, all the mercenary Dou Masters were rapidly approaching.
"Young Leader, there is a signal?" the black-clad middle-aged man said excitedly.
"Good! Chase him, don't let him go!" Tiangang stood up abruptly; there was finally news.
The mercenaries in the camp began to assemble, and shouts rang out incessantly.
"Did I make too much of a scene?" Looking back at the large group of mercenaries, he felt extremely depressed. Utilizing the dense forest, he kept fleeing.
"Hmm?"
In the valley, when the whistling sound shot into the sky, Hun Tiandi woke up and looked at the red wolf heads in the sky, his heart shocked.
"Are their brains broken?" he cursed inwardly.
Although Hun Tiandi could fight above his rank, being hunted by so many mercenaries, he could only run.
His injuries were basically recovered, and his figure flickered as he left the valley.
"Little beast, today I, this Young Master, will bury you in the Tianmu Mountain Range..."
Suddenly, a youth spoke coldly; it was none other than the Young Leader Tiangang, who had received the news and was speeding over.
He was moving with great speed, sprinting over, and happened to see Hun Tiandi.
A trace of venom appeared on his ferocious face, and a low roar passed through the dense forest, reaching his ears.
The peaceful Tianmu Mountain Range had its peace broken.
Shouts and sounds of pursuit circled continuously in the sky. There were too many mercenaries hunting; teams that had originally planned to enter the mountain range to hunt magical beasts also stopped.
They watched the crowd running past them in astonishment.
Some teams who didn't understand the situation also joined the ranks of those running, very curious to see what was happening.
"Catch Yun Tian, that brat has a Xuan-tier cultivation method on him!"
Tiangang shouted loudly, his voice echoing in the sky.
Voices rose and fell, spreading throughout the mountain range. Once a Xuan-tier cultivation method was mentioned, a trace of greed surged into the eyes of almost all the mercenaries.
"Junior Sister, we've made a big scene!" On a mountain peak, the Blue-robed Youth looked at the densely packed figures below and gave a wry smile.
"Hmph, call for people!" the Pink-robed Girl said coldly. Her beautiful eyes looked at the greedy mercenaries, and she decided to seek out experts from Starfall Pavilion.
She flipped her hand to take out a piece of white jade, and with a 'crack', she crushed it with force. An invisible ripple shot into the void and disappeared.
Hun Tiandi's expression changed drastically. With so many mercenaries, even an expert at the peak of the Dou Master level would be in grave danger.
He fled rapidly through the dense forest, his gaze cold, as he ran toward a group of magical beasts.
"Come on! If you want me dead, then no one gets to live!"
"Let's see if there are more of you, or more magical beasts in the Tianmu Mountain Range..."
Hun Tiandi sneered and dashed toward the depths of the mountain range.
