394: Chapter 394 Mr. Xuan Chen, the Mud Bodhisattva Reappears

He caught the middle-aged man's sword strike, gripping the longsword with his left hand while his right fist slammed into the man's chest.

Boom!

The man was instantly sent flying, hurtling ten miles away before he could steady himself with a sway of his body. He looked at the white-robed man in mid-air with terror.

In the next moment, the white-robed man's figure faded and actually vanished into thin air.

On the stone bench, the identical-looking man lowered his left hand from his brow and looked indifferently at the middle-aged man flying back.

"Thank you for showing mercy, Senior!" He immediately bowed respectfully.

Thanking the senior for showing mercy?

That move just now had blocked the middle-aged man's sword, and an identical clone had appeared out of nowhere.

Could it be that this person also possessed a technique like the Blood Scripture that allowed him to condense clones?

Defeating an opponent with just a single clone—this strength was somewhat terrifying!

"It is the will of heaven. It seems the seal here will break before long. I promised that person I would guard this place for a thousand years; there are still three months left!"

"After three months, I will no longer care. You all can return then!" the white-robed man said indifferently.

"Guarding for a thousand years?" Terror filled Hun Tiandi's heart. A thousand years? Setting aside how long a normal person lived, even the supreme experts of the Fighting Qi Continent, the Dou Emperors, had the longest lifespans.

And even they only had ten thousand years of life. This white-robed man, for the sake of a promise...

...had sat here for a thousand years? Just how much lifespan did this person have to squander so freely?

More importantly, when he had conducted the blood sacrifice in the Central Plains back then, countless lives had perished, creating an endless river of blood, yet this person had not intervened.

Otherwise, he might have been wiped out before that Flame Emperor even had a chance to act.

It seemed the Fighting Qi Continent hid great secrets; it was not as simple as it appeared.

"No wonder forces like the Eight Clans, with their ten-thousand-year heritages, could be born..." Though Hun Tiandi appeared calm on the surface, his heart was surging with waves.

Hoo!

Taking a deep breath, he wondered if this person was surely some old monster living in seclusion.

"May I ask for Senior's name?" Crown Prince Lanjing said, staring at the white-robed man.

"My name is Xuan Chen!" After speaking, he closed his eyes again and sat in quiet cultivation.

Everyone frowned. Knowing this person was unfathomable, did they really have to wait patiently for three months?

"Your Majesty, let us return. For at least three months, as long as Xuan Chen is here, no one can break the seal!" Liu Ling said indifferently.

"Let's go!" He then turned and left.

Crown Prince Lanjing also realized this and departed.

After everyone had left and the place was empty, Xuan Chen suddenly opened his silver-white eyes.

"Everyone is gone. Come out!" Xuan Chen said indifferently.

Though the surroundings seemed empty, a person appeared on the mountainside in an incredibly eerie manner.

It was a man wrapped entirely in black robes, his features completely hidden.

"You are not him? Who are you?" Xuan Chen's brow furrowed slightly as he spoke coldly.

"My teacher is dead. You may call me Mud Bodhisattva!" the Black Robed Man said indifferently. If Hun Tiandi were here, he would surely recognize this person as the Mud Bodhisattva he had met in Sound Valley within the Central Plains.

He hadn't expected him to appear here.

"Also called Mud Bodhisattva?" Xuan Chen asked with some confusion.

"My lineage has been passed down through a single disciple since ancient times; we are all called Mud Bodhisattva!" Mud Bodhisattva said calmly.

"Oh? What is the purpose of your visit?" Xuan Chen inquired.

"I have come to inform you that no one will be taking over for you. This seal has existed for ten thousand years; the limit of its heavenly cycle has been reached, and it will inevitably break!"

"This Tianjue City was also built for the seal and arrangements were made. We have been sealing it for ten thousand years; whether it brings fortune or calamity, these ten thousand years have completely washed away the connection between my lineage and it!"

Mud Bodhisattva spoke indifferently.

"What exactly is underneath this seal?" Xuan Chen looked at Mud Bodhisattva.

"Something that shouldn't exist. If you are interested, you can stay and see. If not, you can leave at any time!"

Mud Bodhisattva said.

"Three months... you aren't staying?" Xuan Chen asked, puzzled.

"No. It took my lineage ten thousand years to wash away the connection. I do not wish to provoke it. I came here to tell you that you can leave whenever you want; you are no longer bound by the old agreement!"

Mud Bodhisattva said in a heavy voice.

"I promised your teacher that I would sit here for a thousand years. How could I give up in the final three months? I will leave when the time is up, but until then, I will keep my word!"

Xuan Chen then closed his eyes, no longer paying any mind to Mud Bodhisattva.

"As you wish!" Mud Bodhisattva said. His figure flickered and vanished from the mountainside.

Inside a manor in Tianjue City.

Crown Prince Lanjing sat in the main seat, with several officials reporting to him from both sides.

His expression was solemn. It seemed this seal had attracted many people.

Especially that fellow named Yun Tian, who likely had connections with the Dazheng Dynasty in the Black-Corner Region.

As the Crown Prince of the Mu Lan Empire, he naturally had his intelligence network; he had even vaguely sensed the Dazheng Dynasty's infiltration into his empire.

"Crown Prince, should we just take men and kill him?"

The middle-aged man beside him said coldly.

Crown Prince Lanjing waved his hand slightly, his finger tapping the tabletop as he harbored deeper calculations.

"He should have just arrived as well, his target being whatever is inside the seal!" an official said.

"Don't worry about him. Have you found anything out?" Crown Prince Lanjing asked.

"No, but this Feng Shui Grand Array existed even before the Mu Lan Empire was founded. His Majesty once ordered that it must not be disturbed!"

Another official said.

"Back when the Mu Lan Empire was established, a man called Mud Bodhisattva appeared and helped the empire conquer cities. He had only one request: that a certain forbidden area not be disturbed for one thousand eight hundred years!"

"Now the time is up. I want to see exactly what is beneath this Feng Shui Grand Array," Crown Prince Lanjing said, narrowing his eyes.

"Report!" A voice came from outside the hall, and everyone looked out.

An official entered, holding a black invitation.

"Reporting to the Crown Prince, a Black Robed Man appeared outside just now, calling himself Mud Bodhisattva. He told me to hand this invitation to you and bring it for your inspection immediately!" the official said.

"Oh?" Crown Prince Lanjing stood up instantly. It was actually Mud Bodhisattva.

"Where is he?" he asked immediately.

"He left the invitation and has already gone," the official replied.

"Bring it here!" Crown Prince Lanjing said immediately.

Looking at the message on the invitation, his eyes were filled with uncertainty and suspicion.

"Crown Prince, what is it?" the strategist beside him asked. Crown Prince Lanjing handed the invitation over.

The invitation read:

"Beneath the Feng Shui Grand Array, a peerless demon is sealed, a great evil of heaven and earth. After ten thousand years of sealing, with Tianjue City as the array, the Heavenly Evil Demon Emperor will emerge in three months, causing widespread suffering!"

"Please inform everyone to leave the city within three months to accumulate a measure of merit. The warning ends here; whether you act or not depends entirely on your heart!"

Crown Prince Lanjing's expression was unstable. Both military strategists looked at the invitation, frowning in deep thought.

"Crown Prince!" The two looked at each other and spoke slowly.

"What do you two gentlemen think?" Crown Prince Lanjing said in a heavy voice.

"Announce it! Whether they stay or leave is up to them!" one strategist said.

"Announce it in the final few days. If it leaks now, it will trigger movements from certain people..." the other strategist suggested.

"No, announce it immediately!" Crown Prince Lanjing waved his hand.

That seal was guarded by the white-robed man; no one could hope to seize it within three months.

Under his arrangements, Tianjue City was shaken by a piece of news. Those with high cultivation were unwilling to leave, as the forbidden area's seal was about to break.

With a peerless treasure right before their eyes, they were naturally unwilling to leave easily.

However, some ordinary commoners, with families in tow, began to flee toward the outskirts of Tianjue City.
