27: Chapter 27 Vigilance

"There is one more thing." Liu Ruyan's voice suddenly dropped lower, the light in her phoenix eyes reflecting the fire pit like two deep, dark lakes. "That beastman merchant... when he was asking about the Bright Tribe, he mentioned a name."

"What name?"

"Ying Wuyue."

The temperature inside the tent seemed to drop by several degrees.

Ying Wuyue, Shadow Clan, Dark Night Queen.

"Ying Wuyue..." Shen Xun'er's almond eyes narrowed slightly.

"The Dark Night Queen, a leader-level figure of the Shadow Clan. How could the Dark Night Queen pay attention to a camp-level tribe in the Central Wasteland Region?"

"Unless we are not the only target being paid attention to." Liu Ruyan's phoenix eyes flashed with a cold, analytical light in the firelight.

"Ying Wuyue is systematically collecting intelligence on transmigrators, which means the Dark Night Queen knows of our existence as transmigrators, and might even know what connection we have to the Savage Era."

Wang Sheng fell silent.

Outside the tent, the Lingxi River murmured. The silver-blue light dome flowed like a galaxy in the night, shrouding the entire Bright Camp in a layer of gentle yet fragile silver-blue light.

The protective circle of the Sanctuary Domain with its three-hundred-pace radius was impregnable against Rank 2 Barbarian Warriors or Savage Beasts, but what about against the Shadow Clan? Against a Barbarian General-level or even stronger dark-attribute user?

"Let's not rush to make a judgment yet." Wang Sheng finally spoke, his voice as steady as a rock.

"Liu Ruyan, continue to the market tomorrow and track that beastman merchant. Shen Xun'er, increase the frequency of your star divination and focus on monitoring dark-attribute spiritual energy fluctuations. Murong Xue, strengthen the camp's defense training, and have all combat group members rotate guard duty."

He paused, his gaze sweeping from Shen Xun'er's almond eyes to Liu Ruyan's phoenix eyes, finally landing on the dancing flames of the fire pit.

"And, Zhao Mang."

"The one from the Blood Wolf Tribe?" Murong Xue's voice came from outside the tent; she had been guarding the entrance, but her ears had not been idle.

"Remember him." Wang Sheng's voice was not loud, but every word carried an unquestionable certainty.

"One day, I will make Zhao Mang kneel before me and take back every word he said today."

The tent was quiet for a moment.

Then Murong Xue's voice came from outside, carrying a rare hint of a smile: "I want to see it with my own eyes."

Liu Ruyan's phoenix eyes curved in the firelight, and a rare warmth appeared in their smoky, misty luster. Shen Xun'er looked straight at Wang Sheng, her almond eyes filled with unreserved trust; she knew he was not boasting, nor was he forcing himself. Wang Sheng never said things he could not do.

"Rest early." Wang Sheng stood up. "There is much to do tomorrow."

The night deepened.

Wang Sheng stood alone by the Lingxi River, moonlight spilling onto the river surface, shimmering like broken silver.

The silver-blue light dome flowed like a galaxy in the night, and the silver-blue light of the Sanctuary Domain shrouded the entire camp, gentle and quiet.

He looked down at his reflection in the river water: a Rank 2 Barbarian Warrior, a Holy Light Warrior, the chieftain of a camp-level tribe, and the only male among the transmigrators.

In front of Zhao Mang of the Blood Wolf Tribe, he was nothing.

Under the surveillance of the Shadow Clan, he was like a young rabbit in front of a giant python.

But there was no fear in his eyes, no discouragement, only a calm and firm light. He thought of himself before the transmigration: an ordinary senior university student with no special background, no extraordinary talent, and he hadn't even had a girlfriend.

If the him from back then had known that one day he would be humiliated to his face by a Barbarian General-level brute, he probably would have felt the sky was falling. But not anymore.

Because he was no longer that ordinary university student. He was a Holy Light Warrior, the chieftain of the Bright Tribe, and the only pillar of support for sixty-two girls.

He could not be weak, could not retreat, and could not be trampled underfoot by anyone—not because of pride, but because too many people were looking at him from behind.

Shen Xun'er was watching him, her almond eyes filled with undisguised love and trust. Murong Xue was watching him, her brown eyes saying, "I believe you can win." Liu Ruyan was watching him, and hidden within the smoky, misty luster of her phoenix eyes was a reliance she had never spoken aloud.

Frost Mage Lin Shiyun was watching him, and the crack in her ice-blue pupils was silently widening in the night. Zhao Linger, Su Mengyao, Hua Jieyu, Xiao Yuqing... over sixty pairs of eyes were all watching him. He could not let them down.

"Zhao Mang." Wang Sheng whispered the name, his voice scattered by the night wind like an invisible oath. "And the Shadow Clan. Remember today."

He looked up, his gaze passing through the silver-blue light dome to look at the stars filling the night sky. Starlight reflected on the surface of the Lingxi River like ten thousand shards of broken silver, like countless silent eyes watching this savage land. In the distance, the Savage Beast Forest was like a sleeping giant beast in the night, and in the direction of the even more distant Shadow Realm, something seemed to be stirring in the darkness.

Wang Sheng's fist slowly clenched, and the Holy Light bloomed silently in his palm before extinguishing, like a star not yet fully ignited.

One day, this star would illuminate the entire Savage Era. But not today. Today, he only needed to remember—remember the gap, remember the humiliation, remember the faces of everyone who had mocked the Bright Tribe.

Then, he would turn these memories into fuel to pour onto the fire burning ever brighter in his chest. As long as the fire did not go out, he would not retreat.

Wang Sheng turned and walked toward the Chiefs Tent, his pace as steady as a march. Inside the tent, Shen Xun'er was waiting for him. Dressed in her moon-white priestess robes, she sat by the fire pit, her almond eyes like two warm pieces of amber in the firelight. Seeing him enter, she curved her lips and patted the spot beside her: "Come and sit. The spiritual tea is still warm."

Wang Sheng sat down beside her and took the cup of spiritual tea she handed him. The warm scent of tea permeated the tent, dispelling the chill brought in by the night wind. Shen Xun'er leaned on his shoulder, her long black hair rubbing against his neck like smooth silk, her voice as light as if moonlight had turned into language:

"Don't think too much. Our tribe will only get stronger."

Shen Xun'er's full chest rose and fell rhythmically with her words, outlining a beautiful curve. Her neckline was gently pulled open by Wang Sheng, revealing the astonishing fullness and deep cleavage on her chest...

"Hmm." Wang Sheng's arm wrapped around her shoulders, his gaze fixed on the dancing flames of the fire pit. "It certainly will."

After a long while, a soft, suppressed, yet pleasurable moan slowly drifted from inside the tent, accompanied by faint, delicate gasps... they were the sounds of breathing, releasing all the suppressed emotions of the day, free and satisfied. Moonlight peeked in, illuminating the sensual scene inside the tent.

Outside the tent, the Lingxi River murmured like a song. The silver-blue light dome flowed like a galaxy in the night, the spiritual energy fluctuations within the Sanctuary Domain were gentle and stable, and everything seemed peaceful and serene, but in the distant depths of the Savage Era, shadows were spreading.
