63: Chapter 63 The Edge of the Forest

The first rays of the morning sun had yet to fully pierce through the gaps in the Savage Beast leather tent. Wang Sheng was already sitting cross-legged in the meditation room of the Chiefs Tent. Golden Holy Light Warrior spiritual energy slowly rotated in his Dantian like a miniature sun.

Each breath drove the tide of spiritual energy within his body. Ever since he broke through to Warrior Rank 4 during the second Beast Tide, his daily cultivation amount had been increasing steadily. The spiritual energy limit of a Holy Light Warrior seemed like an endless golden ocean, and every time he probed the bottom, he discovered deeper undercurrents.

Just as his spiritual energy reached the critical moment of the third cycle,

"Ding!"

An extremely sharp system prompt sounded in his mind like a golden bell. It wasn't the usual gentle "ding," but a sound filled with urgency, like an alarm before a Beast Tide.

Wang Sheng's eyes snapped open. His golden pupils reflected a golden panel that appeared out of thin air before him.

Warrior Rank 5.

Wang Sheng's gaze lingered on those four words for three seconds. His golden pupils contracted slightly, and the Holy Light Warrior spiritual energy in his body fluctuated involuntarily.

His current cultivation level was Warrior Rank 4. Although he had killed the Warrior Rank 3 Giant Horned Rhino King during the second Beast Tide, that was only by relying on system rewards, his Holy Light Explosive Fist, and the geographical advantage during the Beast Tide.

The gap between Rank 5 and Rank 3 was not small. In the Savage World's power system, with every rank promotion, the quality and quantity of spiritual energy undergo a leap.

The higher the rank, the more the chasm between ranks becomes like a natural moat. From Warrior Rank 3 to Rank 4, spiritual energy doubles; from Rank 4 to Rank 5, spiritual energy doubles again. Moreover, Rank 5 Savage Beasts often possess combat instincts and special abilities far exceeding those of lower-rank Savage Beasts.

He needed an elite squad.

"You're frowning again."

A voice as gentle as moonlight sounded from behind him. Shen Xun'er didn't know when she had already stood at the door of the meditation room. Her moon-white priestess robes resembled a thin layer of silver mist in the morning light, and her jet-black hair cascaded down her shoulders like a waterfall. Her moist, apricot-shaped eyes held a hint of haziness from not having fully woken up, yet she had already precisely captured the deep crease between his brows.

Shen Xun'er walked behind him and gently smoothed the crease between his brows with her slender fingers, as if moonlight were smoothing ripples on a lake. Then, her gaze fell on the suspended golden system panel.

Shen Xun'er read the content on the panel word for word and analyzed it softly: "You need combat power and sustainability.

Murong Xue has the best chemistry with you, Liu Ruyan is responsible for reconnaissance, and the White Deer's beast-clan perception can provide early warnings for Savage Beasts."

She paused, her slender fingers gently tapping the "Team Up" words on the system panel. "Su Mengyao has just become a wife; let her stay behind to look after the Spirit Garden and the Elf Archer training."

Her tone was gentle yet decisive, her logic as clear as an unfolded battle map. Her status and judgment as the primary wife were fully revealed in the first rays of the morning sun.

"I will stay behind to guard the village." Shen Xun'er's voice held no hesitation. "You take the most elite people and finish the battle quickly."

Wang Sheng stood up, his one-meter-eighty-five frame standing like an unsheathed longsword in the morning light of the meditation room. The lingering charm of the Holy Light Warrior spiritual energy remained on the surface of his fists, the golden shimmer resembling fine stardust. He turned around and grasped Shen Xun'er's hand.

Her hands were slender and warm, her fingertips carrying the faint coolness unique to a Moonlight Priestess, just like the temperature of moonlight itself.

"Don't worry, I'll be back soon."

Shen Xun'er looked up at him. The morning light slanted in through the gaps in the tent, landing right on his profile, gilding that deep, handsome face with a golden outline. Her moist, apricot-shaped eyes reflected the shadow of this man. Trust and a trace of imperceptible worry flickered like two small stars in her deep, pool-like pupils.

Then,

She stood on tiptoe.

Her soft lips touched the corner of his mouth extremely quickly, like moonlight lightly brushing the surface of a lake. It was a fleeting touch, as if she were afraid she would regret it.

Shen Xun'er's cheeks instantly flushed red, as if a drop of morning glow pigment had been accidentally spilled on a moon-white canvas. She let go of his hand and turned to leave.

The hem of her moon-white priestess robe was like a flower petal blown open by the wind as she turned, and her jet-black hair lifted in the morning breeze, just like a river of ink splashed by the hands of the Savage World gods.

She stopped for half a second when she reached the door of the meditation room. She didn't look back, but her voice was like a piece of moonlight falling gently into the Lingxi River.

"Come back alive."

The kiss of the Moonlight Priestess was like a gentle amulet.

The training ground of Guangming Village was like a grey-blue stone slab polished by the Savage World gods in the morning light. It was an open flat land surrounded by primary defensive walls. In the center stood a flagpole made of Savage Beast bones.

At the top hung a bright green flag woven by Su Mengyao from spirit vines, snapping in the morning breeze. That was the village flag of Guangming Village, a flag without an emblem, yet it carried the weight of 108 lives.

Wang Sheng stood in the center of the training ground. The Holy Light Warrior armor shimmered with a golden light in the sun, and the Holy Light longsword hung diagonally at his waist, the Spirit Rune on the scabbard resembling a sleeping golden dragon. His gaze swept over the clansmen gathered on the training ground, his voice sounding like a golden bell.

"Expedition team, roll call."

Murong Xue was the first to step out. The Holy Light Knight had changed into a full set of silver armor today, her brown ponytail tied meticulously behind her head. The silver armor outlined her tall, healthy figure like an unsheathed silver spear.

Under her resolute expression, her brown eyes were as steady as a mountain. She carried her Holy Light longspear diagonally on her shoulder, the Spirit Rune on the spear tip looking like a silver star in the sun. She nodded slightly at Wang Sheng; no extra words were needed. The tacit understanding between comrades-in-arms was already written in every charge they had made side-by-side.

Liu Ruyan emerged silently from the shadows at the edge of the training ground. The night-traveling attire of the Phantom Assassin appeared exceptionally low-key in the daylight. Her willow-leaf eyebrows and phoenix eyes were hidden under the shadow of her hood, revealing only a pair of misty, smoke-like eyes.

Those eyes swept across the training ground, like two silent daggers roaming in the dark. Her way of appearing was just like her profession: silent, soundless, and omnipresent. She made a "reconnaissance ready" gesture to Wang Sheng.

Xiao Yuqing led five Elf Archers out in formation. The Rainstorm Archer's clean, short hair fluttered slightly in the morning breeze, her dashing demeanor resembling a falcon ready to strike.

She pulled the bowstring, and the humming sound of the vibrating string echoed crisply in the training ground. "Remote firepower, ready at any time." Five Elf Archers stood behind her, their green spirit bows shimmering with the faint light of nature in the sun.

Each Elf Archer's pointed ears and emerald-green pupils manifested the gift of the Power of Nature. This was Su Mengyao's Elf Archer squad, their first organized expedition since the system rewards.
