69: Chapter 69 All Killed

Zhao Linger's lips parted slightly, and a rapid string of notes erupted like a sudden storm, the frequency of the sound waves climbing in intensity as the pink ripples transformed from gentle undulations into dense pulses.

Under the barrage of dense sound waves, the nervous systems of the Armor-Splitting Lizards felt like drumheads being hammered repeatedly; their movements slowed significantly, and two of them even began to shake their heads, as if disoriented by the sonic assault.

Then, Zhao Linger suddenly opened her eyes.

Those large, round eyes, usually sparkling like stars during play, had become sharp and focused in the heat of battle, glowing like two pink gemstones ignited by spirit power—it was a unique insight, characteristic of a Spirit Sound Master, as precise as a musical note.

Through the feedback of the sound waves, she "saw" the weak points of the Armor-Splitting Lizards: the areas where the spirit barriers between the gaps in their armor were thinnest.

Her lips parted slightly, and a high-pitched note pierced through the air: "Break!"

It was not a human voice, but a blade of sound; a visible pink wave, resembling a slender spirit snake, struck precisely at the neck armor gap of the leading Armor-Splitting Lizard.

"Crack!" The serrated neck armor shattered upon impact from the sonic blade, as if smashed by an invisible hammer, sending fragments flying and exposing the gray-white soft flesh beneath—the only fatal weakness of the Armor-Splitting Lizard.

Murong Xue's eyes flared, her combat instincts as a Holy Light Knight igniting like a silver flame; she surged forward in a charge, the Spirit Rune on the tip of her holy light spear erupting with silver radiance, shining like an exploding star in the dark forest.

"Holy Light, Pierce!"

The silver spear pierced accurately into the gap where the armor had shattered, and the holy light spirit power surged from the tip into the beast's body, exploding like silver lightning within the Savage Beast, causing it to let out a deafening shriek.

Xiao Yuqing's rain of arrows provided simultaneous coverage; the emerald arrows from the Rainstorm Archer and the five Elf Archers descended like six green meteors, accurately piercing the exposed soft flesh. The Elf Archers' arrows carried a vine-binding effect, and emerald vines grew wildly from the wounds, like six green snakes burrowing into the Armor-Splitting Lizard's body.

The first Armor-Splitting Lizard collapsed with a heavy thud.

Zhao Linger did not stop her sonic assault; her lips remained parted, and a steady stream of mid-frequency notes flowed like a continuous river, maintaining the slowed state of the remaining five Armor-Splitting Lizards.

Beads of sweat seeped from her forehead, slightly dampening the collar of her spirit vine combat suit and clinging to her fair collarbone like emerald velvet moistened by morning dew.

Wang Sheng held the front line; the golden spirit power of the Holy Light Warrior coiled like a dormant golden dragon. He did not need brute force; he only needed to maintain enough intimidation in front of the Armor-Splitting Lizards.

The light blade of his Holy Light Slash was like golden lightning in the dense forest, each strike accurately forcing back any Savage Beast attempting to approach Zhao Linger.

"No one is allowed to approach her!" His voice rumbled like golden thunder.

Liu Ruyan's assassination was like a viper in the dark night; the Phantom Assassin's figure flickered on the flank of the Armor-Splitting Lizards, her daggers flashing like two silver crescents as they precisely severed the tendons of the second lizard's hind leg, causing the beast to collapse forward, unable to support itself.

A spirit arrow from the White Deer descended from the canopy like a golden meteor; the Deer Spirit Archer's arrow struck the eye of the third Armor-Splitting Lizard with precision.

Xiao Yuqing's rain of arrows covered the area, joined by the emerald arrows of the Elf Archers and the holy light spear of Murong Xue.

Zhao Linger's sound waves continued to control the field; she was like the team's metronome, each note's rhythm precisely coordinating with her teammates' attacks. When Murong Xue charged, the slowing effect of the sound waves ensured the Savage Beast could not evade.

When Liu Ruyan struck, the interference of the sound waves prevented the beasts from sensing the danger on their flanks; when Xiao Yuqing fired, the vibration of the sound waves caused the beasts to freeze in place.

This was the true value of a Spirit Sound Master—not brute force, but rhythm. She controlled the tempo of the entire battle, like a conductor standing at the center of an orchestra; her voice was the beat for the entire team.

Six Armor-Splitting Lizards, seven minutes, all eliminated, zero casualties.

The moment the battle ended, Zhao Linger was like a spirit lamp unplugged from its power source; she switched abruptly from her fierce combat state back to her soft and cute mode, with a speed akin to a spirit sparrow folding its wings, transitioning instantly from soaring in the sky to nesting on a branch.

She plopped down onto a moss-covered stone, her fair, tender legs dangling in the air; the pant leg of her spirit vine combat suit had been grazed by a lizard's tail during the fight, tearing a small hole.

It revealed a glimpse of skin as fair as congealed fat, appearing in the dim forest like a piece of white jade forgotten in a corner by the gods of the wilderness.

She pouted and rubbed her throat, her baby face scrunching up like a kitten that had just tasted a sour fruit.

"So thirsty, my throat is so dry. Wang Sheng, water."

She gestured toward Wang Sheng with both hands, her ten slender, fair fingers splayed in the air like ten white candles ignited by spirit power, looking like a little bird waiting to be fed.

Her baby face clearly spelled out "Give me water now," and her large, round eyes gazed at him pitifully.

Wang Sheng helplessly retrieved the spirit water skin from his pack—the very one Frost Mage Lin Shiyun had frozen for three hours the previous night. The iced spirit water had mostly melted, but it still retained a hint of chill as he handed it to Zhao Linger.

Zhao Linger took it and gulped down two mouthfuls. The spirit water trickled from the corner of her mouth like a string of transparent pearls, flowing down her fair neck like the Lingxi River winding through the wilderness, before disappearing into the collar of her spirit vine combat suit and vanishing into the deep cleavage on her chest.

A small patch of her spirit vine combat suit against her chest was dampened by the spirit water, the dark water stain appearing like a tiny emerald lake on the green vines.

She looked up, water droplets clinging to her baby face like morning dew on a petal; she wiped her mouth carelessly with the back of her hand and flashed a brilliant smile at Wang Sheng.

"Thank you, Chieftain!"

That smile was like a spirit flower blooming in the wilderness; the fierce, sharp-as-a-blade Spirit Sound Master from moments ago seemed to have never existed, and all that sat there now was a little girl happy to have had a drink.

Murong Xue shook her head from the side, though the corners of her mouth curled up slightly.

This girl—fierce as a blade in battle, soft and cute as a cat afterward; such a contrast was truly enough to make one's heart soften.

She glanced at Wang Sheng and noticed his gaze lingering on Zhao Linger for a moment. That look was not the gaze of a chieftain looking at a clansman, but something softer—a gentleness like moonlight falling upon the Lingxi River.

Murong Xue turned her gaze away slightly, her silver armor gleaming in the dappled sunlight like a silver flag rippling in the wind.
