60: Chapter 60 Flowers Kissed by Spring

Afternoon.

When Wang Sheng returned from patrolling the perimeter of the Savage Beast Forest, the sun had already passed its zenith and was tilting west.

Murong Xue walked beside him; her silver armor was dusted with a few withered leaves from the Savage Beast Forest, and her brown ponytail fluttered in the wind, her athletic and powerful figure like a walking silver statue.

She and Wang Sheng had circled the perimeter of the village; there were no signs of new Savage Beast groups gathering at the edge of the Savage Beast Forest, the remains of the Savage Beasts from the last Beast Tide had mostly been naturally decomposed, the water quality of the Lingxi River was normal, and everything was calm.

"The beast-kin girls are adapting well," Murong Xue said as they walked, her voice steady and powerful. "Bailu volunteered to participate in the spirit field patrol today. Her perception range as a Deer Spirit Archer is even further than Xiao Yuqing's Rainstorm Archer; the Deer Spirit Tribe are natural-born scouts."

"Hmm," Wang Sheng nodded. "Bailu's strength is not weak. A Rank 2 Barbarian Warrior Deer Spirit Archer might not be top-tier in the Cangmang Region, but here, it is already a significant combat force."

"Her heart is with you, too." Murong Xue's tone was as calm as usual, but her brown ponytail flicked slightly behind her shoulder—a micro-expression that only those who knew her well could read. "During yesterday's patrol, she kept looking in the direction of the Chiefs Tent."

Wang Sheng did not respond.

Murong Xue did not continue either; the forthrightness of a Holy Light Knight was limited to the battlefield and tactics. In terms of emotions, she was as reserved as Frost Mage Lin Shiyun, only Frost Mage Lin Shiyun wrapped herself in a cold shell, while she used silver armor and a spear.

The two reached a fork at the village entrance; Murong Xue went to the defensive wall to relieve Tang Waner's shift, and Wang Sheng walked toward the Chiefs Tent.

Then, he looked toward the direction of the Spirit Garden.

A wreath hung at the entrance of the jade heart herb fence.

It was Zhao Linger's handiwork; although a Spirit Sound Master was not a florist, her fingers were more dexterous than anyone else's.

The wreath was woven from frost moon orchid and golden sun flower; silver-blue and gold were intertwined, resembling a sun drenched in morning dew.

In the center of the wreath was tied a bright green ribbon, made of Pei Yanzhi's spirit silk, the same shade of green as Su Mengyao's long dress.

Wang Sheng's footsteps paused.

He looked at the wreath, then looked toward the Spirit Garden behind it, where long, emerald-green hair flickered in and out of sight among the flower beds, like a flowing stream in a spring forest.

He took a deep breath; the fragrance of flowers drifted from the direction of the Spirit Garden, like the gentlest invitation from nature.

Then, he walked into the Spirit Garden.

Su Mengyao heard the footsteps.

She stood in the deepest part of the Spirit Garden, in front of the moonlight rose bed.

Seven moonlight roses were arranged in an arc, just like a half-moon resting on the spirit soil. Each was taller than her waist, and the branches and leaves were adorned with flower buds waiting to bloom.

The outer petals of the buds were silver-white, resembling white jade soaked in moonlight, but the edges of the petals revealed a hint of light pink, like a young girl's blushing cheeks.

She heard the footsteps getting closer and closer; her heartbeat was like the pulse of the spirit flowers in the Spirit Garden—thump, thump—faster and faster, louder and louder.

She turned around.

Wang Sheng stood three steps away from her. The sunlight shone from behind him, his golden silhouette like the sun rising over the Savage Continent, overlapping with the figure she had seen on the first morning after crossing over, by the Lingxi River.

Su Mengyao's heart skipped a beat.

"Wang Sheng," her voice was much softer than usual, resembling the sound of petals falling into the Lingxi River—gentle, delicate, and carrying an imperceptible tremor. "You are back."

"Hmm," Wang Sheng looked at her. Her emerald-green silk dress in the afternoon sun was like water soaked in jade, clinging to her full, soft figure, outlining every curve like a painting drawn by the hands of the Savage Continent's gods.

"Linger said you were in the garden and asked me to come take a look."

Su Mengyao's ears turned red again. Zhao Linger! This Spirit Sound Master's little schemes were even more sensitive than her Spirit Sound Technique!

She took a deep breath; the fragrance of flowers surged from all directions, as if nature itself was encouraging her.

"Wang Sheng, you, you come and see."

She turned to the side, revealing the moonlight rose bed behind her. The seven moonlight roses looked like a row of elves blessed by moonlight in the afternoon sun; the silver dew on the buds sparkled like crushed diamonds in the sunlight.

"They are about to bloom." Her voice was still very soft but firmer than before, like the final accumulation of energy before a bud blooms. "The moonlight rose is one of the most precious spirit flowers on the Savage Continent. It only blooms on the night of the full moon; the flowering period is only one night, and it will wither the next morning."

"However," she raised her hand, and a mass of emerald-green Power of Nature condensed at her fingertips, as if condensing a piece of spring in her palm. "A Nature Druid can use their spirit power to urge it to bloom early. Although the flowering period will be shortened from one night to half an hour, but…"

Her voice stopped.

Because she saw Wang Sheng's gaze. Those golden pupils were not looking at the moonlight roses at this moment, but at her—resembling the warm and irresistible light when the sun shines on a flower.

Su Mengyao's face flushed instantly.

It wasn't just her ears that were slightly red; her entire face was flushed. A layer of crimson, like blooming peach blossoms, rose on her white-porcelain skin that had a faint hint of green, spreading from her cheekbones to her ears, from her ears to her neck, just like spring spreading to the entire forest.

"You, why are you looking at me?" Her voice was like a petal dampened by morning dew, trembling with a hint of panic at being seen through. "I am talking to you about the flowers."

"I know." Wang Sheng's voice was like a golden bell chime—steady and gentle. "But the flowers are not as beautiful as you."

Su Mengyao was stunned.

Her emerald-green eyes were like two spring lakes lit up by sunlight, filled with shock, shyness, joy, and an uncontrollable urge to bloom, like a flower bud that had finally waited for the sun.

Her lips moved slightly, like petals trembling in the wind, and then she took a deep breath.

The Power of Nature surged from her body.

It was not something she deliberately urged; rather, when a Nature Druid's emotions fluctuated violently, their spirit power would involuntarily release, just like a flower uncontrollably blooming under the sun, like spring uncontrollably covering the earth.

The emerald-green spirit power surged from her palms like a tide, pouring into the spirit soil beneath her feet. The spirit soil was like a sponge watered by spring rain, greedily absorbing the nourishment of the Power of Nature, and then,

The moonlight roses bloomed.

The seven moonlight roses bloomed simultaneously. It was not a slow unfurling of petals, but as if a fast-forward button had been pressed. Driven by the Power of Nature, the silver-white petals unfolded rapidly, like seven silver fireworks exploding in the garden.

The edges of the petals revealed a light pink, like a young girl's blushing cheeks reflected in the moonlight. The stamens were golden, like seven small suns blessed by moonlight.

Then came the jade heart herb; the jade heart herb at the edge of the flower bed simultaneously bloomed with tiny emerald-green flowers, as if laying a jade-green carpet for the moonlight roses.

Then came the golden sun flower; the golden sun flower in the center of the flower bed seemed to respond to the call of the moonlight roses, its golden petals like a flock of small suns flapping their wings in the sunlight.

Then came the frost moon orchid; the silver-blue frost moon orchid was like an elf awakened by moonlight, blooming in the garden with a radiance like a falling galaxy.

The entire Spirit Garden,

seemed to have been kissed by spring.

Dozens of spirit flowers bloomed at the same time. Petals fell from the stems like colorful snowflakes, fluttering in the garden—golden, silver-white, emerald-green, silver-blue—like a palette overturned by the gods of the Savage Continent, as if the flowers of all four seasons were blooming at the same moment.

Petals fluttered around Su Mengyao; her long, emerald-green hair in the petals was like a jade river flowing through a sea of flowers, and her emerald-green eyes were like two gemstones surrounded by petals.

Her white-porcelain skin, set off by the petals, was like white jade soaked in nectar. She was like a flower fairy embraced by spring, like the most beautiful flower on the Savage Continent amidst the fluttering petals.

It was not that the spirit flowers were more beautiful than her;

it was that she made the spirit flowers lose their luster.
