138: I have someone I like.
“Then let's all go together.”
Xiao Niannian hadn't expected her Grandparents and Father to argue over who would wake her up, so she quickly said.
“Alright.”
Grandma Gu looked at Xiao Niannian with a smile and said.
“Niannian, hurry up and sleep.”
Lu Jing returned to the Lu Family Old Residence, which was about a kilometer away from here.
“Grandpa, Grandma.”
Hearing Lu Jing's voice, Old Master Lu and Mrs. Lu looked up toward the doorway.
“Xiao Jing, you're back?”
“Old man, I'm not seeing things, am I?”
Grandma Lu said happily.
“You stinky brat, you actually remembered to come back.” Grandpa Lu said angrily, but the smile on his face was unstoppable.
“Why did you suddenly come back?” Grandma Lu looked at her Grandson smilingly, stepping forward to examine him.
“Your Grandson was out on a mission and has three days off.”
Hearing about the three days off, Grandpa Lu and Grandma Lu were very happy.
“Three days off, that's wonderful.”
“Have you eaten dinner yet?” Old Master Lu asked.
“Yes, I ate dinner at Grandpa Gu's house.”
Old Master Lu exploded upon hearing this.
“You returned to the Capital City and didn't come home to eat, so why did you go eat at Old Man Gu's house? Is his family's food better than ours?”
“Grandpa Gu and Uncle Gu made it themselves.”
What?
Old Man Gu and Eldest Gu actually cooked themselves? What are they trying to do? Are they trying to win over my Grandson?
That's not right. The Gu Family doesn't have a Granddaughter, only a Maternal Granddaughter. And that Maternal Granddaughter's conduct is hard to describe. Surely Old Man Gu isn't so blind as to try and introduce his Maternal Granddaughter to my Eldest Grandson?
“Is Old Man Lu trying to introduce his Maternal Granddaughter to you?”
Hearing his Grandpa's words, Lu Jing shook his head.
“No.”
“Then why did you go eat at his house? He's so envious of my Grandson, what is he trying to pull?”
Hearing his Grandpa's angry words, Lu Jing knew that his Grandpa and Grandpa Gu must have clashed over something again recently. When Grandpa Lu and Grandpa were young, they were comrades-in-arms fighting side-by-side, comrades they could trust their backs to, and their relationship was incredibly good.
If either of them had trouble before, they would always help the other out.
Now that they were old, their tempers were like children's; they would argue noisily even over a game of chess, engaging in all sorts of quarrels. To outsiders, they seemed incompatible, but in reality, their relationship was excellent.
No matter what happened, they would always step up for the other.
The Lu Family and the Gu Family rose and fell together.
Hearing Grandpa Lu's words, Grandma Lu said irritably.
“What nonsense are you talking about? You two old guys argue all day long, but what does that have to do with the Grandson? No matter how much you argue, it won't affect the relationship between Sister-in-law Gu and me, nor will it affect the relationship between our family and the Gu Family.”
Grandpa Lu let out a cold snort.
“I went to eat with a Comrade-in-arms.”
Comrade-in-arms?
Grandpa Lu and Grandma Lu both looked at their Eldest Grandson in surprise.
“Your Comrade-in-arms went to the Gu Family for dinner too? Invite your Comrade-in-arms to eat here tomorrow. I remember there's one named Fang Qiang, He Yong, and your orderly named Xiao Cui, right?”
“Next time. If I invite them, it won't be here at home.”
Grandpa Lu frowned upon hearing this.
“Then why can Old Man Gu invite people to his house for dinner?”
Grandma Lu glanced at her husband after hearing his words and said.
“You even have to compete with others over dinner.”
“Who competed with Old Man Gu?”
Grandma Lu looked at her Eldest Grandson and said with a smile.
“Your Grandpa and Old Lu are always like this; you don't need to pay attention to him.”
After Grandpa Lu let out a cold snort, he asked about Lu Jing's recent situation.
“How have you been lately?”
“Very well.”
Hearing his Grandson say he was doing well, a smile appeared on Grandpa Lu's face.
“You're already twenty-six or twenty-seven now; it's time for you to look for a partner.”
Upon hearing this, Lu Jing immediately refused.
“Grandpa, I won't go on blind dates.”
“No blind dates? Look at your age. Look at the Yang Family and the Li Family next door; their Grandchildren are running all over the place. Those old guys play chess with me every day and constantly show off their Grandchildren and Granddaughters in front of me...”
Grandpa Lu gave Lu Jing a thorough scolding.
Grandma Lu pulled Grandpa Lu's hand.
“Just talk, why are you shouting so loudly?”
Hearing his wife's words, Grandpa Lu immediately lowered his voice.
“Wife, I'm not scolding him, I'm just anxious. Look around the Compound, whose Grandson at this age isn't either married with children or going on blind dates?”
Hearing her husband's words, Grandma Lu looked at Lu Jing.
“Xiao Jing, your Grandpa is right. It's time for you to go on blind dates now. Your Mom picked out a few options for you before. If she knew you were back at the Old Residence, she would definitely make you go on blind dates.”
“Grandpa, Grandma, I have someone I like.”
Lu Jing said it directly.
What?
Grandpa Lu and Grandma Lu looked at Lu Jing, their faces filled with shock. They hadn't misheard, had they? Their Eldest Grandson said he had someone he liked?
“Who is it? Do we know her?”
Hearing this, Lu Jing shook his head.
“You don't know her. I haven't confessed to her yet; we are just interacting, and she doesn't know.”
This made the old couple even more shocked.
“What did you say? You're pursuing her, and she doesn't even know?”
Old Master Lu burst out laughing.
Grandma Lu also laughed. Aside from being a bit cold, her Eldest Grandson was excellent in all other aspects. Now, he was actually pursuing a girl who didn't even know—that was truly interesting.
Grandpa Lu suddenly thought of a possibility and glared at his Grandson.
“You brat, you're not trying to fool your Grandparents, are you?”
When Lu Jing heard this, his expression also became serious.
“I would never fool Grandparents.”
Hearing their Eldest Grandson say this, Grandpa Lu and Grandma Lu believed Lu Jing's words.
“Then when do you plan to confess to that girl?”
Lu Jing shook his head.
“It's still too early.”
Grandpa Lu and Grandma Lu were originally still a little suspicious, but hearing Lu Jing's words made them believe him even more.
“This is the first time I've seen you like this, kid. What's the girl's name? Where is she from?”
Grandpa Lu inquired.
He and his wife trusted their Eldest Grandson's judgment. However, they were also afraid that their Eldest Grandson might be deceived. He couldn't end up like that family in the Compound who married a wife that caused constant turmoil at home.
“Please don't ask so many questions. When the time is right, I will bring her back to meet you and Grandma.”
Hearing his Grandson say this, Grandpa Lu frowned.
“You brat, why are you so disappointing? If you like someone, you should act fast! If you dilly-dally like this, and someone else snatches her away, what will you do?”
“She won't be.”
Grandpa Lu and Grandma Lu asked a few more questions, but they couldn't get a single piece of information out of Lu Jing.
Grandpa Lu felt incredibly uncomfortable, as if his heart was being clawed by a cat. He had to secretly find out more.
“Don't even think about inquiring. If you ruin this for me, I won't get married this lifetime...” Lu Jing said in a serious tone.
What?
Grandpa Lu and Grandma Lu looked at Lu Jing in surprise.
