60: This is murder to silence a witness.

Xiao Niannian completely ignored Deputy Captain Tang.

Captain Yu praised Xiao Niannian inwardly when he heard her words. This young girl was bold, careful, and unafraid of trouble. He heard that today she and Captain Lu had simultaneously fired shots, killing one of the criminals.

Otherwise, if that explosive had detonated today, along with the situation at the Sugar Factory, this entire area would have been in danger. All of them would have been finished.

"Comrade Xiao, Comrade Li, I heard you were the first to discover the criminals. Please describe the situation at the time..."

Listening to Captain Yu, Xiao Niannian began to speak.

"We had bought tickets and entered the cinema, preparing to wait for the movie to start. I noticed two people carrying handbags who looked suspicious, so I quietly followed them..."

Xiao Niannian briefly recounted the events.

"When I heard them talking about explosions and such, I told Li Le that these people were trouble and asked her to find reinforcements."

Li Le also spoke up.

"Yes, Niannian discovered it then and immediately told me and a few comrades-in-arms. We went out to find people while Niannian kept an eye on those two inside. We found Captain Lu and the men under Captain Lu..."

"I didn't ask you! What are you talking about?" Deputy Captain Tang slammed his notebook down again.

Xiao Niannian frowned. This Deputy Captain Tang was constantly acting crazy here.

Li Le clenched her fists in anger. Was this person insane?

"Lu Jing brought his people in. Before he entered, I had already subdued one of the men, and then we worked together to subdue the other. After tying them all up, we returned to the cinema hall, where the criminals started attacking people. You all know what happened next..."

Xiao Niannian suppressed her displeasure and briefly finished explaining the situation.

"Where did you learn your fighting skills? Did someone specifically teach you? Why did no one else notice these people were suspicious, but you did?" Deputy Captain Tang questioned her.

Xiao Niannian ignored Deputy Captain Tang.

"Answer me." Deputy Captain Tang pounded the table with his hand.

"Where did you get your gun? And who gave you permission to shoot and kill someone? Do you know what crime you committed? Murder!!!"

Listening to his nonsense, Xiao Niannian could no longer suppress the anger in her heart.

"Murder? Are you saying I shouldn't have saved the hostage, shouldn't have killed the man, and should have waited for him to ignite the explosives on his body?"

"I didn't mean that. You are trying to silence a witness! You clearly could have shot him elsewhere, so why the headshot? I have reason to suspect you are one of their accomplices..."

Deputy Captain Tang said this, staring intently at Xiao Niannian.

"If you confess honestly, you might still be able to atone for your crime by rendering meritorious service. Otherwise, it will be a severe punishment."

Hearing his words, Xiao Niannian sneered.

"In that situation, why don't you teach me where the most appropriate place to shoot was? If he hadn't been killed and they had ignited the explosives on their bodies, everyone in the entire cinema would have perished. How about you demonstrate it for me? Judging by your behavior, you aren't anything good either. I suspect you have ties to these people; maybe you are one of their accomplices."

Xiao Niannian retorted directly.

"You are talking nonsense! How dare you slander a Public Security Officer? That's adding crime upon crime!"

"Then what about you slandering a Soldier?"

Xiao Niannian looked at him mockingly.

Seeing Xiao Niannian's mocking expression, Deputy Captain Tang grew even angrier.

He had held the position of Deputy Captain for several years. Previously, he had worked with comrades from the Revolutionary Committee to handle many cases. If he solved this cinema case, he might immediately be promoted to Deputy Director of the Municipal Bureau.

Therefore, when he learned that the incident was discovered by these two new recruits, and that they were female Soldiers, he immediately became suspicious.

He called to investigate Xiao Niannian, learning that Xiao Niannian was from Wang County and had been adopted after being abandoned. He therefore suspected that Xiao Niannian was the descendant of an Enemy Agent, and that those people had deliberately sent Xiao Niannian into the Military Unit to steal military secrets.

Otherwise, how could Xiao Niannian possess such excellent martial arts skills and superb marksmanship just days after enlisting?

The more he thought about it, the more suspicious he became. That's why he ordered a thorough investigation of Xiao Niannian, hoping to interrogate her and crack this major case.

"You were picked up and raised by others, so you might be the descendant of an Enemy Agent. How else do you explain the things you know now?"

Hearing his words, Xiao Niannian laughed.

"So you have no evidence and are relying solely on imagination?"

"So what if I was picked up and raised by others? My grandmother loves me very much, and I love my grandmother very much. That someone like you can be a Deputy Captain in the Municipal Bureau is truly eye-opening."

Hearing Xiao Niannian mock him for being unfit for his position, Deputy Captain Tang became even more furious.

He stood up and rushed toward Xiao Niannian, fiercely gripping Xiao Niannian's neck with his hands.

"Stop running your mouth! If you keep beating around the bush, don't blame us for being rough with you."

With her neck squeezed, Xiao Niannian found it hard to breathe.

"Let go."

Xiao Niannian warned him.

"Let go of Niannian! What you are doing is illegal." Li Le also grew anxious. She immediately stood up and tried to push Deputy Captain Tang away, but Deputy Captain Tang flung Li Le aside. Li Le hit the wall, and her injured hand hurt even more.

"Are you going to talk or not?"

Xiao Niannian narrowed her eyes. Seeing his arrogant and smug expression, she couldn't hold back anymore. How was this man any different from the person on the train last time? Bullying her was one thing, but daring to bully Squad Leader Li? She couldn't tolerate it anymore.

Xiao Niannian directly threw a punch. Deputy Captain Tang was no match for Xiao Niannian's speed; he failed to dodge, and his nose was struck by her fist, causing blood to instantly gush out.

"Ah! You dare to assault me!"

Xiao Niannian rubbed her neck. It truly hurt a little.

She had wanted to strike a while ago.

Seeing Deputy Captain Tang frantically charging at her, Xiao Niannian also became enraged and stopped holding back.

"Ah..."

The sound of Deputy Captain Tang's miserable screams echoed in the interrogation room.

Seeing this scene, Captain Yu deliberately stepped back a few paces. In recent years, this Deputy Captain Tang, in collaboration with those people from the Revolutionary Committee, had handled many cases. However, many of those cases were clearly not what they seemed. They had protested many times, but Deputy Captain Tang and his associates forcibly closed the cases.

Now, seeing how they were treating these two young girls, he felt even angrier.

He had just sent someone to notify the people from the Military Unit, but he didn't know when they would arrive.

Only when the Military Unit personnel arrived could Deputy Captain Tang be restrained. Otherwise, these two young girls might suffer greatly. When Deputy Captain Tang went crazy, he would even shoot and injure those being interrogated. He had even heard previously that Deputy Captain Tang and his group had killed people during interrogation.

Their family members had gone to the Municipal Bureau seeking justice, but the people from the Revolutionary Committee helped Deputy Director Tang.

"You stinking brat! How dare you hit me!" Deputy Captain Tang pulled out his weapon.
