222: A water source has been found.

Wilderness survival training?

Xiao Niannian smiled when she heard Lu Jing's words.

Military Doctor Shen and several comrades-in-arms looked at Xiao Niannian. They all knew clearly.

For Xiao Niannian, this wasn't wilderness survival training; this kind of training was too simple for her. However, for her comrades-in-arms, it was a different story.

"This wilderness survival training will last seven days... You will have to cross a mountain. During these seven days, you will only have one day's worth of food, a dagger, some medicine, and a map each... A group can have a maximum of three people... If you reach the destination after seven days, you won't be eliminated..."

Many Soldiers were stunned upon hearing Captain Lu's words.

They were participating in the Division Headquarters competition. Wilderness survival was one of the events, and previous training lasted five or seven days, but why were they given so little this time?

Seven days of deep mountain wilderness survival training—this was too dangerous.

"Do you have the confidence to complete the mission?"

Although many people felt panicked, they roared loudly when they heard Lu Jing's words.

"Yes."

"Yes, yes, yes."

Company Commander He led his men and threw the supplies to them.

Everyone received a small bag. The contents of the bags were incredibly light. When many people opened their bags and saw a small sack of rice, a dagger, and some medicine inside, their expressions changed.

They thought it would be rations, but now they didn't even have dry rations, nor did they have tools for making fire. They had to acquire everything themselves.

"Gather."

Everyone immediately gathered, holding their bags.

After boarding the military truck, the vehicle drove for more than two hours until Xiao Niannian and her comrades-in-arms arrived at the foot of a mountain.

Looking at the massive mountain ahead that stretched as far as the eye could see, many Soldiers began discussing.

"Oh my god, our wilderness survival training this time actually requires us to cross such a huge mountain?"

"Quickly check the map."

"There isn't even a compass in the bag."

"There are probably many Wild Beasts in this mountain."

After entering the mountain, Xiao Niannian took out the map. When she first heard about the map, she felt things weren't simple. Looking at the simplified map on it, Xiao Niannian's mouth twitched.

If it were an ordinary person, who could understand this map?

Just a few mountain peaks and a few coordinates.

This wilderness survival training probably involves more than just crossing the mountain; it also requires finding the coordinates of the finish line.

Her gaze swept around. Everyone was currently walking in twos and threes, and not far away, there were also some hidden people.

These people belonged to the Special Forces Brigade. They were currently more than ten meters away from them, hidden very well, and her comrades-in-arms hadn't noticed them.

"Squad Leader Li, shall we team up?"

"Comrade Xiao, would you like to be in a group with us?"

Because they were previously criticized for not knowing how to team up with teammates, this time, as soon as they entered the mountain, many comrades-in-arms began forming their own groups. The ones asked the most were naturally Xiao Niannian and Squad Leader Li.

A maximum of three people per group. Xiao Niannian looked at her other comrades-in-arms and said.

"I won't be teaming up with you."

She was fine by herself, and her comrades-in-arms could be stronger by forming groups of three.

Hearing Xiao Niannian's words, these comrades-in-arms were a little disappointed. However, they didn't say anything more, smiled, and walked forward.

Squad Leader Li also smiled. He had originally wanted to team up with Comrade Xiao Niannian. Even if they didn't team up with Comrade Xiao, they could still walk together.

This mountain was probably not peaceful.

He had dealt with Captain Lu and his men before.

This mountain must have been swept once by Captain Lu and his people, but they must have added many training landmines and other traps.

The supplies they had now were only enough for one day, and it was all rice, without any side dishes or anything else.

Previously, when they went to rescue the Expert, they had a Hunter leading the way. Now, in this mountain, they had no one to lead them, only a compass, a dagger, a bag of rice, and some medicine.

Fortunately, the weather today was good, and it wasn't raining, otherwise, their situation would be even more troublesome.

Xiao Niannian shook her Military Canteen. Before leaving, she had filled the Military Canteen with water. She wouldn't lack water while climbing the mountain now. Judging by the situation, it would probably take an hour or two to find a water source.

Without a guide, they could only rely on past experience. After walking for half an hour, most Soldiers rested here, some walked ahead, and a few others fell behind.

"Can we get out using this path? Maybe it's still dozens of Li away from the destination..."

"These diagrams are completely incomprehensible..."

Everyone discussed in low voices. Some were looking at the direction with their compasses, and others wanted to find a water source soon or catch some prey to fill their stomachs. They couldn't touch the supplies they had now, or what would they do for the next six days?

Xiao Niannian looked around. There must have been many villagers entering the mountain here, as the path was quite wide. However, she didn't see any Wild Rabbits or Wild Chicken nearby. They probably had to go deeper into the mountains to find them.

She carefully observed the surrounding environment. Xiao Niannian walked forward. Soon, using the terrain, she noticed a certain scent in the air carried by the wind. She continued walking forward for more than ten minutes and found a small stream, but it was already dry.

However, she realized that this stream was downstream. If she followed it, she could find a water source that hadn't dried up.

Water found in the wild must be boiled before drinking, or it could cause major problems.

Seeing Xiao Niannian walking ahead, the other Soldiers quickly followed. They would leave marks on the trees for the comrades-in-arms behind them.

"Comrade Xiao, are you looking for a water source?"

A Soldier asked.

"Mhm."

"That's great."

Hearing Xiao Niannian's affirmative answer, several Soldiers were overjoyed. When they set out, there wasn't much water in their Military Canteens, and after drinking several times along the way, the water in their canteens was even scarcer now.

They had also been trying to find a water source just now, but when they dug holes, not much water seeped out, and with so many people, a little bit of water wouldn't solve the problem.

Everyone followed Xiao Niannian forward, and after walking for another half hour, they finally found a large pool of water.

"There are fish."

"That's wonderful! Now we not only have water but also fish. We won't have to go hungry at noon..."

Many people immediately threw down their backpacks and took out their knives to cut down nearby bamboo and trees. They then sharpened them into points, which could be used not only for spearing fish but also as hiking sticks.

"I caught one."

Someone happily held up a fish weighing a few Liang and spoke to his comrades-in-arms.
