80: He ranked first in the new recruit assessment and was awarded a third-class merit.

On the day of the New Recruit Regiment assessment, the leaders from Division Headquarters also came to the scene.

First was the five-kilometer unarmed run.

This time, Xiao Niannian did not hold back her score; instead, she ran it in seventeen minutes and twenty-eight seconds.

When the leaders heard this number, they were all extremely surprised.

"How many minutes and seconds did Comrade Xiao Niannian run?"

"Reporting to the Chief, Xiao Niannian ran it in seventeen minutes and twenty-eight seconds, breaking the Division Headquarters record for the five-kilometer unarmed run."

The other soldiers who ran it in eighteen minutes and some odd seconds were all shocked to hear this data.

They had been training every day, and they had thought that for this new recruit assessment, if they ran with all their might, they would definitely be able to achieve a good result.

Next, multiple other assessments were conducted.

After the results for each event were announced, Xiao Niannian was in first place every time.

Li Le also performed excellently, taking second or third place in several events; furthermore, Zheng Si, Qian Wu, and others placed fifth in some events and were in the top ten for others.

As for Hu Ping, Yang Fang, and the others, their results were at the very bottom.

Xiao Niannian, Li Le, and over a dozen others stood on the podium.

Xiao Niannian held many certificates in her hands; she had already received these certificates once in her past life.

And this time, in the seventies, she had received them again.

Division Commander Yu and many leaders from Division Headquarters looked at these new recruits on the podium and were very pleased.

"This batch of new recruits has better results than last year's."

"Especially that Xiao Niannian; she completely exceeded our expectations."

"I didn't expect a Female Soldier to be able to take first place in the new recruit assessment."

"This third-class merit is well-deserved."

Xiao Niannian looked at the third-class merit medal and the certificates, feeling very happy.

If she wanted to get promoted and go to the Military Academy, she needed to earn more merit.

For the assignment to a company, she planned to go to the reconnaissance company, where she would surely be able to make a name for herself.

Li Le, Zheng Si, and a few others also ran over happily.

"Niannian, congratulations."

"Niannian, you were first in all the events; that's truly amazing."

"Niannian, you are the fastest among us new recruits to receive a third-class merit medal."

"Niannian, we want to see your third-class merit medal."

Hearing their words, Xiao Niannian handed the medal over.

"Wow, it's so beautiful."

"I also want to learn from Niannian and strive to get a third-class merit sooner."

"I also want to learn from Niannian."

They were all very grateful to Xiao Niannian in their hearts; if it weren't for Xiao Niannian, they wouldn't have been able to achieve such good results in the New Recruit Regiment, let alone receive certificates for any events.

If they could be assigned to the same company as Niannian, they would be able to learn from Xiao Niannian even better in the future.

Hu Ping, Yang Fang, and the others heard these words and spoke in a very sour tone.

"What's so great about it? We will definitely surpass you in the future."

"Maybe someone helped you train in private."

"Hmph, some people shouldn't be happy too early." Hu Ping said in a mean tone, with a hint of smugness in her voice.

Hearing these words from Hu Ping, Xiao Niannian guessed that Hu Pings Mother must have done something; otherwise, Hu Ping wouldn't be so smug.

Could it be that they wanted to interfere with her company assignment?

As Hu Ping walked forward, Yang Fang lowered her voice and asked.

"Pingping, this Xiao Niannian won't really be assigned to the hospital or the Medical Team, will she?"

"Just relying on her? What's the use of getting first place? She will soon be assigned to the most bitter and tiring place."

Hu Ping laughed smugly.

Her mother had said that she wanted to send Xiao Niannian to the most bitter and tiring place.

If she stayed in that place for two or three years, she wouldn't have any future.

Unlike her; she would be a signal soldier in the future.

Her mother said that as long as she worked hard and achieved results, she would be able to get a third-class merit and would be recommended to the Military Academy...

Hearing that Xiao Niannian was going to be assigned to the most bitter and tiring place, Yang Fang, Zhu Dan, and He Juan laughed happily.

"Pingping, now that you say that, I am really looking forward to it."

"Maybe Xiao Niannian will be assigned to the furthest company. I heard that in those places, the houses are made of stone, and there are countless mosquitoes and insects."

"I heard that in the most bitter and tiring companies, even the toilets are outdoors. Once you go in, it stinks so much that the mosquitoes can drive people out..."

These people were envious and jealous of Xiao Niannian for receiving a third-class merit, and they all wanted to curry favor with Hu Ping right now; their own assignments were either the Medical Team, the military hospital, or being a signal soldier.

There weren't as many places for Female Soldiers to go as there were for male soldiers.

Only a very small number of Female Soldiers would be assigned to combat units. Xiao Niannian getting first place in this new recruit assessment was just dumb luck; there weren't many capable people in this New Recruit Regiment.

They had heard that some people trained much more after being assigned to a company than they did in the New Recruit Regiment. Some people would surpass those from the New Recruit Regiment.

Those ace soldiers were not necessarily the people who got first place in the New Recruit Regiment.

"Squad Leader, do you think we can be assigned to the reconnaissance company like you?"

Zheng Si, Qian Wu, and the others pulled on Li Le, feeling a bit worried. Thanks to Niannian leading their training these past few days, their results had improved a lot, which was why they had made such great progress.

They heard that the top few dozen people would enter combat units. But there were very few Female Soldiers in combat units. And the managers of the Female Soldiers were also female cadres.

However, some with good physical fitness would still become signal soldiers.

"Not necessarily; it could be a signal soldier, or it could be the Medical Team and the military hospital..."

Li Le had also trained with all her might back then, and was later selected for the Reconnaissance Battalion's Female Reconnaissance Squad. However, that wasn't her goal; what she wanted to enter was the Special Forces Brigade.

In the few years since the Special Forces Brigade was established, there had been very few Female Soldiers.

And the ace soldiers from every unit would be selected to enter the Special Forces Brigade.

Like the soldiers under Captain Lu, Fang Qiang, He Yong, and the others, every one of them could take on ten.

After the assessment, there was no holiday, so Xiao Niannian couldn't go see her grandmother.

Very soon, the troop transport vehicles arrived at the New Recruit Regiment, and the cadres who came to select the recruits held the rosters and called out names one by one.

"Li Bing, Zhang Wang..."

"Hu Gong, Yang Mu..."

Xiao Niannian listened to the names one by one and watched as they were led away.

Hu Ping, Yang Fang, and the others were also assigned to the Communications Company; watching their smug and happy expressions, Xiao Niannian didn't feel anything.

She had also been in the Communications Company before.

Soon, most of the people had been selected.

Qian Si, Zheng Wu, and others were also assigned to the Reconnaissance Battalion's Female Reconnaissance Squad.

"Great, Squad Leader, we can be in the same squad as you."

"Squad Leader, please guide us in the future."

"Squad Leader, we can work hard together with you."

They had also been looking forward to hearing Xiao Niannian's name.
