19: Chapter 19 I really want to abandon darkness and embrace the light.
The Immortal Cave was extremely grand, with countless fluorites embedded in the surrounding walls, illuminating the entire space as bright as day.
Many spiritual plants were grown around, making the Spiritual Qi inside the cave much denser than outside.
The Ink Flood Dragon dragged its scarred body, struggling to crawl before a giant chair carved from a single piece of warm jade.
"Yao King Howling Wind..."
The Ink Flood Dragon called out weakly several times.
In truth, his injuries were mostly healed after consuming the Spirit Medicine, but he intentionally left the external wounds unrecovered, making him look incredibly miserable.
"Hmm?"
A low response came from the chair, and accompanied by heavy footsteps, a burly and magnificent figure slowly appeared before the Ink Flood Dragon.
The burly man's eyes were like torches, and he was completely naked except for a pelt of some animal wrapped around his waist. He exuded an invisible pressure that made one dare not look directly at him.
"Ink Flood Dragon? Weren't you preparing for your transformation? Why have you ended up like this?"
Upon hearing this, the Ink Flood Dragon immediately began to wail and complain with tears and snot:
"Great King! Your subordinate was simply staying in my own territory, cultivating in seclusion to prepare for my transformation."
"But suddenly, a massive fox invaded. Not only did he forcibly seize my territory, but he also heavily injured me!"
"In desperation, I invoked your name, Great King, but he actually said..."
A cold light flashed in Yao King Howling Wind's eyes:
"Said what?"
"He actually said, 'What kind of thing is Yao King Howling Wind? He's nothing but a little kitten...'"
The Ink Flood Dragon said, adding oil to the fire.
"Boom!"
The entire Immortal Cave shook violently. A violent green whirlwind swirled around Yao King Howling Wind as he laughed wildly:
"Interesting. Since I advanced to the Fourth Rank, I haven't met such a reckless fool in a long time."
The Ink Flood Dragon rejoiced inwardly and prepared to lead the way.
Just then, the gale around Yao King Howling Wind died down, and he asked the Ink Flood Dragon:
"Did you just say a fox injured you?"
"Yes! It was a very large Red Fox."
The Ink Flood Dragon nodded repeatedly, a glint of cunning flashing in his eyes.
"That beast relied on its thick hide and completely disregarded you, Great King!"
Yao King Howling Wind suddenly fell silent. He stepped back and sat on the warm jade chair behind him, his broad palm unconsciously stroking the armrest.
A strange silence fell over the Immortal Cave, leaving only the sound of the Ink Flood Dragon's breathing.
"A fox..."
"Could it be that vixen's subordinate?"
In this outermost region of the Ten Thousand Beast Mountain Range, eight Great Yao Kings each ruled a territory. Aside from the Old Turtle who ignored worldly affairs, the remaining seven Yao Kings were quite active and had recruited many followers.
Yao King Heart-Bewitcher to the west was also a fox. She had many subordinates and was socially adept, maintaining good relations with the other six Yao Kings. Generally, if any conflict occurred, they would give her some Face.
Perhaps that Red Fox was a new subordinate she had recruited.
Yao King Howling Wind narrowed his eyes and spoke slowly:
"Did you ask whose subordinate that Red Fox is?"
The Ink Flood Dragon trembled. It was fine to exaggerate other things, but he didn't dare lie about this. He stammered:
"This... I did ask at the time... but he didn't say..."
"Is that so? Then go ask that slutty fox."
"If it really is her subordinate, tell her to take him back and give you some compensation."
Hearing this, the Ink Flood Dragon grew anxious and hurriedly said:
"Great King! That beast insulted you so much, how can we just let him go like this?"
Yao King Howling Wind snorted coldly:
"Idiot! Do you think I don't know what you're plotting?!"
With a wave of his hand, a gust of wind hurled the Ink Flood Dragon out of the Immortal Cave.
The Ink Flood Dragon slammed hard against the stone wall outside the cave, blood splattering from his wounds.
He struggled to get up, a trace of resentment flashing in his eyes, but he quickly suppressed it and crawled away with his head lowered.
At this moment, his desire to transform into a dragon and advance to the Fourth Rank reached its Peak, as did his hatred for Su Mo.
The Ink Flood Dragon dragged his scarred body through the dark mountain forest.
"Howling Wind... and that fox..." he spat out through gritted teeth, "One day, I will make you all pay the price!"
Suddenly, he stopped and alertly raised his head.
From deep within the dense forest ahead, a faint rustling sound approached him.
Soon, the bushes blocking his view were pushed aside by a large hand covered in earthy yellow fur, and two tall figures stepped out.
One was a wolf over five meters tall with blue-gray fur, and the other was an ape about ten meters tall with earthy yellow fur and exceptionally thick arms.
The Ink Flood Dragon's tension immediately eased, and he let out a sigh of relief.
"Qingfeng, Handi, what are you two doing here?"
The Qingfeng Wolf and Earth-Shaking Ape were both stunned and said in surprise:
"Ink Flood Dragon? You're not in your lake; why have you come here?"
"Sigh... it's a long story. Since you're here, I want to meet Yao King Heart-Bewitcher. I wonder if you could introduce me."
The Qingfeng Wolf and Earth-Shaking Ape exchanged a glance and replied:
"Ink Flood Dragon, the two of us were invited by Yao King Heart-Bewitcher to attend the annual Immortal Food Assembly."
"The Immortal Food Assembly ended long ago, and Yao King Heart-Bewitcher has already retired for the night. If you want an introduction, you'll have to wait a few days."
The Immortal Food Assembly?!
Are the benefits of being Yao King Heart-Bewitcher's subordinate really this good?
Maybe I should just leave the darkness for the light... but the Ink Flood Dragon only dared to think it. If he dared to betray Yao King Howling Wind, Yao King Heart-Bewitcher probably wouldn't take him in anyway.
A trace of anxiety flashed in the Ink Flood Dragon's eyes, and his expression shifted constantly.
Seeing this, the Earth-Shaking Ape scratched its head and asked in a gruff voice:
"Tell us what's on your mind. Maybe we can solve it without the Great King having to step in."
Hearing this, the Ink Flood Dragon's eyes lit up, and he suddenly looked at the ape and the wolf.
That's right!
Both of them are under Yao King Heart-Bewitcher; maybe they know that fox.
Even if they don't recognize him, with the combat power of three Third Rank Peaks... no, that's not secure enough. I should get them to call a few more.
The Ink Flood Dragon lowered his voice and said with feigned sadness:
"Brothers, to tell you the truth. A Red Fox of unknown origin was completely unreasonable. He not only seized my lake but also beat me into this state..."
As he spoke, he squeezed out a few tears and began to sob.
"If... if I hadn't been lucky enough to escape through a secret passage, I'm afraid I... I wouldn't have been able to see you two today."
The Qingfeng Wolf's ears twitched as he asked in confusion:
"A Red Fox? I don't recall any newly joined Red Fox!"
Every time Yao King Heart-Bewitcher recruited subordinates, she would gather everyone together to get acquainted, so they were all very familiar with each other.
Seeing the Ink Flood Dragon crying so heart-wrenchingly, the Earth-Shaking Ape was instantly enraged. Veins bulged on its thick arms as it slammed the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust.
"Since he's not part of our Myriad Yao Association and yet dared to bully my brother, then I'll take action and help you finish him off."
The Myriad Yao Association?!
When did Yao King Heart-Bewitcher establish an organization?
I really want to join... Seeing this, the Ink Flood Dragon immediately seized the opportunity to exaggerate further.
"He must be a wild fox from another region! Not only did he seize my territory, but he... he even spoke arrogantly, saying that the entire Yao Race in this region are all trash!"
"What!! Then we definitely can't let him live!"
The Earth-Shaking Ape could no longer contain its rage and pulled the Ink Flood Dragon to leave.
Even the steady Qingfeng Wolf had eyes full of fury at this moment.
