36: Chapter 36 Resurrect, My Grandfather!

Splitting the narrative.

Su Mo returned to his room with a bulging parcel.

Steward Wang had accumulated many treasures over the years, and Su Mo experienced for the first time what a mountain of gold and a sea of silver truly meant.

Unfortunately, he could only take a limited amount by himself, so he picked only the smallest and most valuable items: century-old wild ginseng, century-old ganoderma, and so on. He didn't miss anything edible.

Of course, there was also that mysterious vest.

It was late at night, but Su Mo had no intention of sleeping.

He chewed on a century-old ginseng while carefully examining the vest.

He hadn't looked closely when he was at Steward Wang's place, but the vest was engraved with many intricate patterns, glowing with a dark red light under the candlelight.

Turning it over, there was a blade wound through the chest of the vest, front to back, with dried bloodstains remaining on the edges.

Su Mo tried to scratch it, but the bloodstains didn't budge.

"Could this be a Magical Artifact of a Cultivator?"

Su Mo's eyes lit up.

"It's just a bit tattered..."

Just then, Su Mo suddenly felt a warm current flowing from his nose, which he couldn't stop no matter how much he sniffed.

He wiped it casually, and it was nosebleed.

"Damn it! I over-supplemented!"

He quickly dropped the half-eaten century-old wild ginseng in his hand and ran towards the water cylinder in the room.

What Su Mo didn't notice was that the blood dripping onto the vest was absorbed in an instant, and the dark red patterns flashed before falling silent again.

After a cold shower in the heavy rain, Su Mo finally managed to stop his nosebleed. After all that commotion, he lost the desire to continue his research and promptly fell asleep.

In a haze, he dreamt that the vest beside him transformed into a seductive woman in red gauze, slowly leaning over to his ear, her icy fingers gently caressing his face, inching downwards... The next morning, Su Mo was woken up by the urge to pee.

Who could understand this!

Waking up in the morning, standing in front of the toilet, bladder full, his twenty-centimeter old friend hard as a rock, like it was glued, the despair of not being able to release a single drop.

Su Mo painfully bent at the waist, enduring the bloating pain in his lower abdomen, and took a cold shower in the courtyard to barely alleviate it.

After taking care of his private matter, Su Mo let out a sigh of relief.

"Damn it! Whoever takes tonics again is a grandson!"

Not long after, Su Mo finished tidying up the shop, only to realize that the old man hadn't gotten up.

Old people sleep very little, and Song Wen usually went to bed early.

Normally by this time, he would have already made breakfast and called him to get up, so why hadn't he gotten up today?

"Did he catch a cold last night and get sick?"

With this question, he pushed open Song Wen's door, only to see Song Wen lying quietly on the bed, his face pale, his chest barely rising and falling.

Su Mo acutely noticed that the old man still had a breath left.

"Grandpa, wake up."

Su Mo reached out and touched Song Wen's forehead, calling softly in his ear.

"No fever..."

Knowing that Song Wen didn't have a fever, Su Mo's brows furrowed.

He actually hoped Song Wen had a fever, which would mean there was still a cure.

But the current situation could only mean... Song Wen's time was up!

Hearing Su Mo's call, Song Wen groggily opened his eyes, a hint of color returning to his pale face.

"Moer... Is it time to open the shop...?"

"I'm old... truly useless..."

"Help me up... let's quickly open the shop to welcome customers..."

Hearing this, Su Mo had no intention of helping him up.

Instead, he chuckled softly:

"Grandpa, isn't this a coincidence?"

"This morning when I woke up, a stack of silver notes suddenly fell from the sky, enough for several generations of our family to spend."

As Su Mo spoke, he pulled out a thick stack of silver notes from his bosom and waved them in front of Song Wen.

"We won't need to open a noodle shop anymore."

"You can just enjoy your retirement from now on."

Song Wen's cloudy eyes suddenly widened, and his breathing became a bit heavier.

"Cough cough... Where did you get these silver notes?"

"You didn't do anything wicked, did you?"

Wicked?

The scene of Steward Wang exploding flashed through Su Mo's mind.

He didn't make a move; Steward Wang died on his own. It's perfectly fine to call it purple sand, right?

Besides, even if he did make a move, it would be to punish evil and promote good!

Su Mo smiled and shook his head:

"Don't you know me?"

"You raised me since I was little; how could I do such a thing...?"

Before he finished speaking, Song Wen's breath suddenly began to diminish rapidly, and his words became intermittent.

"That's... good... that's... good..."

Su Mo knew at a glance that Song Wen's brief burst of energy before death was almost over.

Seeing this, his mind quickly raced.

Suddenly, a flash of inspiration struck him.

"That's right, the century-old wild ginseng!"

He had heard before that ginseng could prolong life; a slice of ginseng held in the mouth could sustain someone for three or four more days.

He had taken so many century-old medicinal herbs from Steward Wang's treasure trove. If one slice could last three or four days, wouldn't eating all of them mean never dying?!

Thinking of it, Su Mo quickly ran to his room.

"Old man, don't die yet, hold on a little longer!"

Su Mo rushed into the room, picked up the half-ginseng he had casually placed on the bed, shaped his hand like a knife, and sliced off two pieces of ginseng.

When Su Mo returned to Song Wen's bedside, Song Wen's breathing had already stopped, with only his heart still faintly beating.

Su Mo put the ginseng slices into Song Wen's mouth and stared intently at his reaction.

To be honest, after so many years, the two had developed a familial bond, and Su Mo truly couldn't bear to see such a good person pass away like this.

But life and death are the Laws of heaven and earth, so Su Mo could only do his utmost to try and save him.

Looking at the situation on the bed, Su Mo couldn't help but pray silently in his heart.

"Resurrect! My — Grandpa!"

After a few breaths, Su Mo's prayer seemed to work; Song Wen's cheeks visibly reddened, and his breathing became steady.

"It actually worked?!"

As Su Mo was pleasantly surprised, Song Wen's eyelids gently fluttered, and he slowly opened his eyes.

"Moer?"

"Was I dreaming just now?"

"I think I saw my mother waving at me on a bridge..."

Good heavens! He was almost on the Bridge of Helplessness, wasn't he?

Seeing Song Wen regain consciousness, Su Mo still breathed a sigh of relief.

"You old man, stop thinking nonsense and get some good rest."

Su Mo sliced all the ginseng in his hand into thin pieces and placed them by Song Wen's pillow, instructing him.

"Grandpa, if you feel unwell, eat a piece of this."

"I'll bring you more when you finish these."

After speaking, Su Mo walked to the front of the shop, preparing to put away the tables and chairs and close the store.

Opening this shop was originally just to give Song Wen something to do, to prevent him from feeling sorry for himself all day.

Just as Su Mo was about to close the shop door, Yellow Three and two of his subordinates came jogging over, their faces beaming with undisguised joy.

"Big Brother... Big Brother... good news..."

Su Mo frowned and looked at him.

"Is your butt itching?!"

Yellow Three felt a chill run down his spine from Su Mo's gaze and quickly put on a fawning smile.

"No... it's not Big Brother who has good news, it's me who has good news... no... that's not right either..."

Su Mo saw him stammering and unable to speak clearly, so he lightly patted his head.

"Speak clearly, what exactly is it?!"

Yellow Three's head slumped from the hit, then he calmed down, looked around, and whispered.

"Big Brother, Steward Wang is dead!"

"And his eldest son is also dead."

"Now many people are watching the show at the Wang Manor's entrance."

"Big Brother, aren't you happy?"

Su Mo's expression was calm, showing no surprise, which made Yellow Three I couldn't help it ask.

"If he's dead, he's dead. What's there to be so surprised about?"

"Big Brother, aren't you going to take a look? I heard their deaths were quite gruesome..."

Su Mo pondered for a moment. Since the shop wasn't open and he had nothing to do, he might as well go and see, scout out the situation, and see what Steward Wang's other son and daughter looked like.

"Alright, let's go."

Su Mo closed the shop door, walked past the three, and headed out.
