7: Chapter 7 Naïve

Su Mo's crimson figure was not conspicuous in the dark environment. He walked slowly on the high branches, his eyes constantly scanning the surroundings.

The number of Blue-ringed Snakes seemed to be very few. After searching for a long time, he only found three, and it took a while to slowly wear them down to death.

He jumped onto the canopy and looked out through the leaves.

The sunlight had become dim. The forest at night was more dangerous than during the day, so Su Mo immediately decided to stop looking for Blue-ringed Snakes.

"It's time to go back."

Just as he was preparing to return the way he came, faint footsteps suddenly appeared nearby.

He immediately held his breath, pressed his body against the tree trunk, and looked alertly toward the source of the sound.

"Thud... thud..."

The footsteps gradually approached. Su Mo saw a pair of glowing blue, twisted objects floating toward him.

"Two flying Blue-ringed Snakes?"

He was excited at first, but after careful thought, he calmed down.

First of all, Blue-ringed Snakes don't walk, so they wouldn't make footsteps.

Furthermore, only the nine rings of a Blue-ringed Snake glow; the entire body doesn't emit blue light.

Filled with doubt, he stared intently at the blue light, wanting to see who its owner was.

The blue light floated up and down. Su Mo noticed that every time the owner of the blue light nodded, the glowing blue mushrooms on the ground or trees would disappear.

"This one's a vegetarian, so it shouldn't be very strong."

Su Mo muttered to himself, preparing to test it out and perhaps bring some meat back.

After waiting for a few breaths, the owner of the blue light finally came within a distance where Su Mo could see clearly.

"A deer?"

"A single deer?"

Appearing before Su Mo was a deer with antlers emitting blue light. The only differences from the deer he had seen before were that its body was slightly larger and it had those glowing blue antlers on its head.

Su Mo didn't sense any danger from it, but to be safe, he still used white porridge to test it.

A clump of white porridge the size of a sandbag appeared silently above the antlers. The owner of the antlers didn't notice at all, leisurely chewing on the freshly plucked mushrooms, making "smack smack" sounds that made Su Mo a bit hungry.

The white porridge dropped "whoosh" with gravity, hitting the Blue-horned Deer on the head.

"Splat!"

The Blue-horned Deer didn't react in time and was hit in the face by the thick white porridge.

All its movements stopped instantly, and a blue light gradually appeared in its eyes.

Seemingly smelling the fragrance of the white porridge, it stuck out its tongue and licked its face, then let out a happy bleat, and the blue light in its eyes dissipated.

"Yo yo yo~"

Su Mo hid in the tree, somewhat dazed.

"This reaction is a bit too docile!"

After hesitating for a moment, he summoned a dozen more clumps of white porridge and dropped them on the Blue-horned Deer.

Instead of getting angry, the Blue-horned Deer stamped its hooves excitedly, lowering its head to continuously lick the white porridge off the ground.

After finishing, it actually looked up, staring expectantly into the air as if hoping for another clump.

Looking at the docile Blue-horned Deer before him, Su Mo suddenly had a bold idea.

He carefully slid down from the tree and stepped out from behind it, maintaining a safe distance from the Blue-horned Deer.

The Blue-horned Deer noticed him but showed no hostility; it just stared at him blankly without moving.

Su Mo summoned white porridge into a leaf bowl he had casually folded, held it forward with both hands, and clicked his tongue.

"Tsk tsk tsk~"

Su Mo maintained his posture of holding the bowl forward and offered a smile, trying his best to appear harmless.

The Blue-horned Deer's ears twitched, and its moist nose wrinkled slightly, clearly smelling the sweet fragrance of the white porridge.

"Come, eat, eat..."

Su Mo whispered gently, holding the bowl and slowly approaching.

Different from what Su Mo imagined, the Blue-horned Deer trotted over without hesitation, excitedly sticking its tongue into the bowl to lick the food.

Su Mo stared blankly at the docile Blue-horned Deer in front of him and couldn't help but complain:

"You're so lacking in Hearts Eye, I'll just call you Hearts Eye."

Hearts Eye just buried its head in its meal without looking up, making Su Mo's eyelids twitch.

Hearts Eye was two meters tall if you didn't count the antlers, while Su Mo was only 1.3 meters tall.

A height of 1.3 meters was already twice the size of an ordinary adult Red Fox, but standing in front of Hearts Eye, he looked like a child.

Su Mo tilted his head back, watching this "big dummy" who was much taller than him gobbling down the food, and couldn't help but worry for it.

"How have you survived until now with this personality?"

He couldn't help but reach out and touch Hearts Eye's antlers. They felt warm to the touch, as if they had a life of their own, pulsing under his hand.

Hearts Eye suddenly raised its head and nodded at Su Mo.

Su Mo looked down and saw that the white porridge in the bowl had been licked clean, glistening under the light of the antlers.

"Still want more?"

"Fine, if you take me to the exit of this forest, I'll give you another bowl."

Su Mo was a bit worried, not knowing if this big dummy could understand his Fox Language.

To his surprise, Hearts Eye actually nodded and gestured for him to sit on its back.

He was instantly amazed, not expecting this big dummy to be so intelligent.

With a leap, he sat on Hearts Eye's back, grabbed the antlers, and after sitting firmly, he shouted.

"Let's go."

As soon as he finished speaking, Hearts Eye reared up on its hind legs, let out a clear deer cry, and the blue light on its antlers surged, weaving into a translucent screen of light in front of them.

"Wait! This isn't right, is it?!"

Before Su Mo could react, Hearts Eye had already charged out like an arrow from a bow.

The surrounding scenery instantly turned into a blur, receding rapidly. The extreme speed made his whole body float up, and to avoid being thrown off, he could only cling tightly to one of the antlers.

However, it was worth mentioning that the blue light screen in front perfectly diverted the air, making Hearts Eye's speed even faster.

After about a few breaths, the speed gradually slowed down, and the light ahead became more abundant.

"Yo~"

Hearts Eye let out a soft cry. They had reached the edge of the forest, with the deep darkness behind them.

"We're here! Thanks for the hard work."

He jumped off Hearts Eye and gently stroked the deer's neck. At this time, the light on Hearts Eye's antlers had dimmed a lot, and its breathing was slightly hurried; clearly, the sprint just now had consumed a lot of physical strength.

"Look up and open your mouth. Here's the reward I promised."

He continuously summoned white porridge into Hearts Eye's mouth. Hearts Eye kept swallowing with "gulp gulp" sounds until a look of panic appeared in its eyes, and only then did Su Mo stop.

"Had enough?"

"Yo~"

Su Mo smiled slightly and whispered into Hearts Eye's ear.

"If you want to drink more, wait for me at this spot tomorrow."

Hearing that it could drink more tomorrow, Hearts Eye excitedly rubbed its wet nose against Su Mo's face, leaving a crystalline water trail.
