61: Chapter 61 Tentacle Play?
"I, Bai Kui, am here. Those willing to follow me and Cultivate the Puppet Dao, step forward."
A three-headed, two-armed Puppet carrying the child-like Bai Kui landed heavily on the plaza floor, kicking up a cloud of dust.
"Cultivate my Puppet Dao, and you can enjoy a thousand years of life!"
The three heads of the human Puppet beneath Bai Kui spoke simultaneously, though their voices were all different.
"No pain!" "No death!" "No destruction!"
This horrifying sight not only failed to scare the Disciples away, but instead caused even more of them to rush forward frantically.
"I am Elder Xue Tao, I Cultivate the Devouring Dao, devouring the Heaven and Earth Spiritual Qi, and consuming the essence of all things!"
The big-bellied Elder Xue Tao patted his stomach, looking simple and honest.
"Join my sect, and I guarantee you will reach Foundation Establishment in three months and Core Formation in one year!"
Upon hearing this, the impatient Disciples became even more frantic, scrambling to squeeze in front of Xue Tao.
No one cared about his obese appearance; after all, in their understanding, it was normal for a Cultivator to have some differences from ordinary people, and this might even be a sign of profound cultivation.
"I am Elder Hun Jiu. Those who Cultivate my Soul Dao, I guarantee your Divine Soul will not be extinguished. Even if you die, you can live a second life through my Soul Banner!"
"I am... Gu Honglin... I Cultivate the Gu Dao..."
The cold, bug-eyed young girl did not speak, yet her voice reached the ears of everyone present.
Compared to the other four, her appearance was terrifying, and her disjointed words held no temptation whatsoever.
Out of nearly a thousand Disciples, only a few dozen chose her.
However, she remained expressionless, as if she didn't care at all.
Su Mo did not hesitate at all. While the others crowded toward the other four, he silently stood in front of Gu Honglin.
Only then did he calm down and observe this Gu Dao Elder.
On the young girl's pale yet exquisite face, her eyes were particularly creepy.
Su Mo saw those eyes, and a certain mollusk appeared in his mind. A snail!
That's right, Gu Honglin's eerie eyes slowly retracted and extended like a snail's eyestalks, swaying, leaving only a pair of black eye sockets exposed.
Even more bizarrely, her full head of black hair seemed to be alive as well.
Su Mo faintly saw a few strands of hair lift slightly, like tiny tentacles searching for something in the air.
"Are... you not afraid?" A cold voice rang out in Su Mo's mind.
Su Mo came back to his senses and looked at the person in front of him, discovering that at some point, those eyes had turned toward him and were slowly extending, almost touching his face.
"This Disciple is not afraid." Su Mo smiled slightly, his gaze meeting those eerie eyes calmly.
"Revered Master, you may not know this, but this Disciple has been accompanied by insects since the age of three. I even raised a fly named Xiao Qiang, and since the age of four, I have not been able to go a day without the company of insects."
Not just every day, Su Mo didn't miss a single meal. He had eaten every known and unknown insect around him, not even sparing fleas. Of course, he didn't eat rock-playing insects; he couldn't bring himself to do that.
"...Interesting..." Gu Honglin's eyes slowly retracted, though they remained exposed.
Seeing this, Su Mo had some questions. Is it dry to keep her eyes outside! How does she blink?
A moment later, the other four Elders impatiently took their groups of Disciples and disappeared.
Gu Honglin also casually summoned a flying boat and signaled for the few dozen Disciples to follow.
The flying boat traveled extremely fast, stopping on a high peak within a few breaths.
Su Mo secretly marveled, wondering what the woman's cultivation level was to be able to control the flying boat at such a speed.
Gu Honglin let everyone off, then put away the flying boat and disappeared again.
Looking around, there was only a small wooden house ahead. The small wooden house didn't even have a window; it was dim and devoid of light, without a trace of human presence.
The Disciples looked at each other, then quickly stepped forward without any hesitation.
Seeing that nothing dangerous happened after a dozen people went in, Su Mo crossed the threshold.
In the center of the wooden house stood a man in a black robe, whose face could not be clearly seen in this dark and damp room.
"Are all you newly arrived Junior Brothers here?" The voice sounded both male and female, making one's skin crawl.
"You should be glad you chose Gu Peak, because this way... your chances of survival will be at least a little higher..."
Upon hearing this, the previously excited expressions of the crowd changed instantly.
The black-robed man stepped forward, standing in the sunlight that had finally managed to shine in from the doorway. Only then did Su Mo see his face clearly.
Like that so-called Deacon, his face lacked any trace of blood color, and from time to time, an imperceptible little bulge would swell in his mouth, only to quickly subside.
"Come on, these are your cultivation resources." The man said, stepping aside to reveal the dozens of Storage Pouches placed on the table behind him.
However, everyone hesitated to step forward. Because everyone noticed that when the man spoke, what was revealed in his mouth was not a tongue, but a flesh worm with a circle of sharp teeth.
The man's voice was emitted from the mouthparts of that flesh worm. A tongue blooming like a lotus? The crowd was greatly shocked, and a few timid ones even had their legs go weak, collapsing to the ground in terror.
"A bunch of cowards, what is there to be afraid of..." A burly man squeezed out from the crowd, cursing in a low voice while striding forward, reaching out to take a Storage Pouch.
Although this man looked fearless, Su Mo clearly saw a flash of fear in his eyes.
Su Mo followed closely behind and silently took a Storage Pouch. Seeing that nothing unexpected happened after the two of them took their Storage Pouches, the others then scrambled forward to collect theirs.
Soon, only the man and woman collapsed on the ground remained.
"What are you afraid of? Soon you will become just like me." The flesh worm in the black-robed man's mouth suddenly extended, and in the blink of an eye, it was pressed against the ear of the woman sitting on the ground.
"Ah! I want to quit the sect! Wuu wuu..." The woman screamed in terror, tears and snot streaming down her face, as she abruptly stood up and ran outside.
"Quit the sect? Hmph..." The black-robed man smiled mysteriously, watching her run outside quietly, without the slightest intention of stopping her.
"Ah!" A miserable scream came from outside the door, followed by a bone-chilling "gurgle" sound, as if something was sucking up liquid.
Everyone looked toward the door. They saw the woman lying on her back on the ground, her body covered in dense, tiny red threads, each thread deeply embedded into her skin.
"Save... save me..." In the blink of an eye, the woman's skin withered at a rate visible to the naked eye, leaving behind only a shriveled husk.
Seeing this, the man who had been collapsed on the ground immediately scrambled up and grabbed a Storage Pouch.
"Fellow Junior Brothers, my name is Wang Gang, you can call me Senior Brother Wang."
"In the Storage Pouch in your hands are your cultivation resources for this month, including Cultivation Technique, Medicinal Pill, Spirit Stone, and uniform."
Wang Gang suddenly paused eerily, the corners of his mouth curling up unconsciously.
"Now, pick your own life-bound Gu!"
