80: Chapter 81 Ten Directions Annihilation Sword Level 3!
Upon hearing this, Song Yue clapped her hands in delight.
"Oh my, son, really? When are we going? Should we prepare some gifts?"
Lu Chen handed her a number and said, "This is Nianwei's mother's number. You can discuss it with her. I think this evening would be best."
"Don't worry, son, leave it to me." Song Yue said, her face full of excitement. "We will handle everything for you. Go and get some rest."
As she spoke, she immediately dialed the number. A soft ringtone rang out, and then the signal connected.
"Hello, who is this?" Shen Ci's soft voice came through.
"Hello, I am Lu Chen's mother, Song Yue," she said in a gentle tone. "Are you Luo Nianwei's mother, Mother Shen, Shen Ci?"
"Yes, that's me," Shen Ci said, sounding very happy. "Hello, Mother Song. Is there something you wanted to discuss with me?"
Shen Ci had vaguely guessed it. Luo Nianwei had already told her what Lu Chen had said in the car.
Song Yue took a breath and said, "Lu Chen told us that he has taken a liking to your Nianwei. If you agree, we would like to visit tonight to officially set a date for the young couple."
Shen Ci chuckled, sounding very happy. "Very well, you are welcome to come anytime. I fully approve of this match. The sooner, the better."
"Then we will visit tonight." "Alright." After the call ended, Lu Yuan looked at her expectantly. "How was she?"
"I quite like her," Song Yue said firmly. "She is gentle and kind, with a warm tone. I believe we will be good in-laws."
Lu Yuan grinned. "That's great. Then let's go buy some gifts together." Song Yue's eyes lit up. More than anything else, she loved shopping.
Then, Lu Yuan took out his phone and dialed a number. "Dad, Lu Chen is getting engaged tonight. We will make an official announcement tomorrow."
"You rascal," Lu Jianlian shouted on the other end, "You want to get engaged secretly again without notifying the family?"
Lu Yuan scratched his head. "Aren't I telling you right now?" Lu Jianlian sighed. "Fine. I will notify your Great-Grandfather."
Upon hearing the news, Great-Grandfather immediately looked up from the documents in his hands. "You and Lu Jianmeng must go with gifts worthy of our Lu family," he said in a calm tone. "We didn't properly accept Lu Yuan's marriage back then; we cannot make the same mistake now."
Lu Jianlian and Lu Jianmeng exchanged glances and nodded. "Understood."
A few minutes later, the latest fighter jet took off from the Lu family villa area, streaking across the sky and heading toward D-6 Base City.
Lu Chen returned to his room and closed the door. Although he had left the living room, he could still hear the sounds of his parents' conversation drifting in his ears—his parents were planning his engagement ceremony.
His mother sounded excited, even mentioning that his Great-Grandfather would be coming. A smile curled at the corners of his mouth. Tonight was very important.
He picked up his phone and typed a message: "My princess, are you ready? Tonight, I will officially make you mine." Then he put down the phone, lay on the bed, clasped his hands behind his head, and stared at the ceiling.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the city, Luo Nianwei sat stiffly on the edge of her bed, staring at the glowing message on her screen. Her heart felt like it was jumping into her throat, and she was afraid it might burst.
"Tonight, I will officially make you mine." She swallowed hard. Her mother had already talked to her about it—but the other woman's warm and supportive words did not alleviate her nervousness.
Would Lu Chen's parents like me? What if they didn't? What if they thought I wasn't good enough and made him leave me? She gripped her phone, feeling incredibly anxious.
Then, another worry surged up—what should I wear? The dress Lu Chen had given me? Or something more traditional and formal to show respect? Her thoughts raced wildly, and her expression kept changing.
At the doorway, Luo Nianyin was secretly watching her sister, her little face twisted with worry—she had been watching her sister pace back and forth in the room, muttering to herself for nearly twenty minutes.
"Sister... are you okay?" Luo Nianyin finally asked, her small voice tentative. "Are you feeling unwell? Should I call Mom over?"
Luo Nianwei's cheeks turned crimson red, and she pressed her phone tightly against her chest as if it were a lifeline. "No, Nian Yin, I'm fine," she said quickly. "There's no need to tell Mom."
Luo Nianyin tilted her head and studied her for a second. "Oh... okay." Luo Nianyin breathed a slight sigh of relief—or pretended to—and then sat on the carpet in the living room with her tablet, continuing to play her game. She only occasionally snuck a curious look at her sister.
She was now standing in the middle of her room, still imagining a thousand ways things could go wrong tonight...
Seeing that there were still a few hours until evening, Lu Chen jumped off the bed, closed his eyes, and steadied his breathing. He began to practice the Ten Directions Annihilation Sword in the quiet room. For six whole hours, his sword swung incessantly, striking again and again, each time more steady and exquisite than the last, as if this sword technique had already been carved into his Soul...
