112: Kill the Bishop
The barbecue stall owner's face was beaming, almost unable to contain his smile, as he watched the increasing number of customers around him.
Soon, Shi Yan's barbecue was ready, and the owner, smiling broadly, handed Shi Yan a meat skewer.
"Come again, young man!"
Shi Yan nodded faintly, took the skewer, put down the money, and turned to leave.
The women who had gathered around because of Shi Yan immediately dispersed after he left.
"Hey, don't go!"
The barbecue stall owner's smile instantly faded as he watched a large group of customers suddenly disappear from around him.
Feeling the gazes behind him, Shi Yan felt a little speechless.
He continued walking through the night market while eating his skewer.
Although he had gained quite a bit this time, he hadn't found any trace of Wan Kai. Shi Yan decided to walk a bit more to see if he could run into him.
He constantly observed the five scenes in his mind. Suddenly, a few dark figures flashed across the North Gate scene.
Shi Yan lowered his gaze. He followed the crowd to the side of the flow of people and entered a dark alley.
The few women who had been following him also followed Shi Yan into the alley beside the main flow of people, but they all frowned.
"Where is he? Did we lose him?"
"That's strange, where did such a big person go?"
"Did you see wrong just now?"
The women said a few words unwillingly, then were immediately drawn away by other things in the night market.
Inside the North Gate, on a deserted residential street.
"Have you found Wan Kai's whereabouts?"
A man in a silvery-white robe asked in a low voice. He had white hair and an appearance that gave off a feeling of openness and integrity.
"Bishop, Wan Kai should be in this area."
The man in the white robe said respectfully.
"Be more specific. There are so many people here; who knows where he is?"
The man called Bishop showed a hint of impatience.
"...Your subordinate does not know."
The white-robed man looked ashamed.
"If you don't know, why aren't you going to investigate?"
The silver-robed man looked utterly speechless.
"Yes!"
The white-robed man responded in a low voice, then led a few other similarly white-robed individuals and disappeared into the depths of the residential area.
"If it weren't for—, I would have slaughtered this entire area long ago."
The silver-robed man's eyes were gloomy as he slowly walked down the residential street.
The residential area was dim at this time, with the faint streetlights on both sides flickering occasionally. The buildings were shrouded in darkness, making it impossible to see anything clearly.
Everything seemed quiet and peaceful.
"Hmm?"
The Bishop's expression suddenly changed. He frowned and looked towards the corner ahead, his face full of vigilance, his right hand simultaneously making a strange gesture.
His left hand reached into the pocket of his silver robe, as if to take something out.
A man in black walked out from the corner of the street. His face showed some urgency, as if he was in a hurry to do something.
He was holding a large black bag, the contents of which were unknown.
"A passerby?"
After seeing the person clearly, the Bishop's vigilance lessened a bit, and his right hand slowly lowered.
However, his tightly furrowed brows still hadn't relaxed, and his eyes remained cautiously fixed on the man.
Just then, after the man walked out of the corner, he headed in the opposite direction from the Bishop.
Seeing this, the Bishop's tightly furrowed brows slowly relaxed.
"It really is a passerby..."
Watching the man anxiously walking towards the front of the street, the Bishop's eyes showed a thoughtful expression.
He stepped forward, appearing behind the man in just a few steps.
"Stop right there."
The Bishop's expression was grim, his voice extremely cold. The more he looked at the man, the more he felt there was something wrong with him.
What was he doing carrying a black bag so late at night?
The man slowly stopped, his shoulders trembling slightly.
Seeing this, the Bishop's suspicion deepened.
"Turn around."
The Bishop's eyes narrowed slightly, his tone forcefully commanding, his left hand remaining in the pocket of his silver robe.
The man in black slowly turned around, but his head remained bowed, making it impossible to see his expression, as if he was afraid.
"What's in your bag?"
The silver-robed man breathed a sigh of relief, his left hand slowly emerging from his pocket.
"It's..."
The man's voice became increasingly low.
"What?"
The Bishop showed impatience, reaching out to snatch the black bag.
Pfft.
A section of a Bloodthirsty Long Blade suddenly pierced out from inside the bag, accurately stabbing into the Bishop's heart, and as if that wasn't enough, it quickly stabbed a few more times.
The man slowly raised his head, revealing Shi Yan's faintly smiling face, his eyes flickering with a strange gleam.
...
The Bishop couldn't even speak, his entire body instantly drained of all blood.
Even in death, he wore an expression of impatience.
[Constitution increased by 8 points]
A warm current flowed along the blade handle into Shi Yan's body.
Shi Yan put away his Bloodthirsty Long Blade.
He actually didn't want to make it so complicated, but whenever he intended to act directly, he always sensed a strange feeling of danger from this person called the Bishop.
So, he could only use this method to gradually wear down the Bishop's vigilance, then quickly deliver a fatal blow.
Shi Yan reached out and searched the Bishop's body.
He found a pure white circular button from the pocket of the silver robe.
It seemed this was the source of the danger.
He immediately put it into his space.
The Bishop's silver robe clearly wasn't ordinary, so he pulled it off directly and stored it in his space.
Leaving the Bishop's corpse here wasn't ideal. After some thought, Shi Yan decided to cremate it directly.
A deep red airflow emerged from Shi Yan's mouth, directly enveloping the Bishop's entire corpse.
Not long after, the Bishop turned into a pile of black powder.
Shi Yan reached out and touched directly above the Bishop's powder, where there was a pure white crystal.
As Shi Yan touched it, warm currents entered his body.
Shi Yan stood up, and as he walked deeper into the residential area, he summoned his ability panel.
Ability: Saint Light Energy (Tier One)
A piece of information entered Shi Yan's mind.
[Saint Light Energy (Tier One)]
[Effect One: Possesses Tier One Saint Light Energy]
[Effect Two: Saint Light Energy will constantly enhance all of one's attributes]
[Effect Three: Using Saint Light Energy can significantly enhance all-round attributes]
[Effect Four: Possesses positive powers such as exorcism, healing, and inspiring morale]
"Tier One?"
Looking at the suffix of Saint Light Energy in the ability panel, Shi Yan became a little curious.
What did this 'Tier One' mean? It was the first time he had seen a skill with a 'Tier One' suffix.
"Could it be?"
Shi Yan seemed to have thought of something, a guess forming in his mind.
Perhaps the effect of this skill could continuously improve with certain changes; if there was Tier One, there would naturally be Tier Two, Tier Three...
In a quiet, dark street, Shi Yan gently raised his left hand, and a thick, sacred white light illuminated from his palm, lighting up his face.
As the white light brightened, warm and gentle power began to spread throughout Shi Yan's body.
Shi Yan raised an eyebrow slightly. This power didn't provide a significant boost to him, only increasing his overall physical quality by about one-twentieth.
However, this power could clearly be improved; this was only Tier One.
But how could it be improved?
