120: Chapter 120 War is Imminent

Chen Ze looked at the behemoth in the distance, not even daring to breathe heavily.

Are you kidding me? That was a monster whose strength and physique dual attributes were about to break through a hundred!

If they were targeted, they would definitely be in for a world of hurt.

Right at this moment, the D-grade Anteater suddenly stopped in its tracks. Its long, tubular snout lifted slightly, turning back and forth, while its moist nostrils twitched continuously.

"Oh no! This guy seems to have caught our scent!"

Chen Ze sighed inwardly and hurriedly pulled Fatty back a bit.

He held his breath, gripping the longyin saber tightly with both hands, ready to strike at any moment.

To his surprise, the D-grade Anteater merely turned its head and looked toward their side. Its fierce little eyes lingered on the direction of the boulder for a few seconds, seemingly confirming the living creature hiding there.

However, it did not stride forward to charge. Instead, it let out a low, muffled grunt from its throat, turned its massive body without looking back, and walked slowly toward the area where the Mutated Ant Swarm was located.

"Thud~! Thud~!"

The heavy stomping sound rang out once more, gradually distancing itself into the distance.

It wasn't until the footsteps faded away completely that the taut, ultimate tension eased slightly.

Fatty's back was already soaked with cold sweat, and he let out a long breath of foul air.

Only then did the two of them dare to carefully stick out half their heads, observing outward through the cracks in the rocks.

"F*ck! Scared the hell out of me!"

He swallowed his dry throat.

"Why do I feel like it found us?"

Chen Ze nodded slightly. He had the same feeling; that big guy really had discovered them.

"It seems Xingzhe Sun was right. The Anteater generally doesn't actively attack other creatures! The only thing it's most interested in is the Mutant Ant!"

"Then what do we do now? Should we find a way to go around, or tail it?"

One of Chen Ze's very important purposes for coming out this time was the D-grade beast core. Right now, the D-grade Anteater and the Ant Swarm were on the verge of battle, so how could he possibly retreat?

"Let's go! Follow it up!"

Chen Ze looked in the direction the giant Anteater left and narrowed his eyes slightly.

"When the snipe and the clam grapple, it's the fisherman who benefits. Today, we're going to be that fisherman!"

"Alrighty! I've been waiting for you to say that, Brother Ze!"

With a plan in place, the two humans and one monkey quickly rushed in the direction where the D-grade Anteater had left.

Chen Ze deliberately lowered their moving speed, not daring to chase too closely, always keeping a large patch of forest between them as a buffer.

Xingzhe Sun ran at the very front, its figure nimbly shuttling between tree trunks, stopping from time to time to turn back and make hand gestures, responsible for scouting the movements ahead.

Soon, the giant apple tree reappeared in their field of vision.

And that D-grade Anteater had already confronted the Mutated Ant Swarm waiting here head-on.

Its massive body stood tall in the forest clearing, its thick, messy brownish-long hair swaying in the wind, and its small eyes locked onto the opposite Ant Swarm.

Its long, tubular snout twitched continuously, inhaling the strong scent of formic acid completely into its nasal cavity. The predatory instinct carved into its bloodline was constantly restless.

Opposite it, the Ant Swarm had already entered combat status.

Countless soldier ants spread densely across the ground, their pitch-black, glossy carapaces reflecting cold light. Their sharp mandibles kept opening and closing, and the clicking friction sounds merged into one.

High in the air, three D-grade flying ants hovered by flapping their wings, followed closely by countless E-grade flying ants behind them.

Their huge membranous wings stirred up a humming whistle, and their compound eyes firmly locked onto this natural enemy, ready to dive down at any time.

"Damn, a full three D-grade flying ants! Can the Anteater fight the Ant Swarm all by itself?"

Compared to the massive number of the Ant Swarm, the Anteater was completely alone, and the visual disparity was truly significant.

"With the racial suppression laid out here, it's really hard to say who wins and who loses!"

Chen Ze paused for a moment and continued.

"Besides, take a closer look at those mutant birds; they are by no means mere bystanders!"

Upon hearing this, Fatty hurriedly raised his eyes to look high into the sky.

The mutant birds filling the sky did not scatter and leave; they circled in groups above the battlefield, their wings constantly flapping, and their chirps rose and fell.

"The birds in the sky don't have good intentions either. As soon as the Ant Swarm and the Anteater engage in battle, those guys will definitely not just watch!"

"Don't forget, wolves eat meat and birds eat bugs—that's an instinct carved into their bones!"

The D-grade Anteater broke the stalemate first.

Its massive body suddenly sank to gather strength, and its thick hind legs fiercely kicked the ground, sending mud splashing in all directions.

A roar like muffled thunder rolled from its throat, and it charged straight toward the wave of soldier ants on the ground.

Although the Anteater looked massive and clumsy, when it ran at full strength, its speed was not slow at all.

Its heavy paws made the ground vibrate with thuds, smashing through low bushes blocking the way all along the path. Its thick, brownish-long hair fluttered backward as it ran.

A distance of over a hundred meters arrived in a flash. The Anteater crashed straight into the ant tide like an out-of-control locomotive.

The battle broke out instantly.

Its large, sharp, hook-like giant claws swept wildly from side to side, and popping explosions rang out consecutively. The soldier ants rushing in the very front were slapped into shattered carapaces in large patches, splashing black bodily fluids all over the ground.

Its long, tubular snout suddenly opened, and its crimson, sticky long tongue shot out fiercely like a spring. With a single sweep, dozens of soldier ants were firmly stuck by the mucus and rolled directly into its oral cavity.

The soldier ants on the ground did not retreat in the slightest; defying death, they crazily climbed up along the giant beast's limbs and torso, their sharp mandibles constantly biting and tearing at the thick, brownish-long hair.

Most of the soldier ants could not bite through the fur and could only cause a nuisance, but they still piled up continuously.

"Hum~! !"

Seizing the moment when the Anteater lowered its head to charge and kill, the three D-grade flying ants in mid-air suddenly dived down from different directions!

They deliberately avoided the body covered by thick hair, and their huge mandibles lunged straight at the Anteater's soft eye sockets and snout.

The Anteater had already engaged in countless battles with the Ant Swarm. Ever since it advanced to D-grade, these humble bugs could no longer cause any damage to it.

Facing the flying ants attacking from the air, it didn't even dodge, only caring about harvesting the food on the ground.

However, it didn't know that among the flying ants filling the sky at this moment, there were a full three D-grade existences!

"Crack! !"

The giant mandibles of the first flying ant bit fiercely onto its nasal wing. The tyrannical bite force directly tore apart the skin and flesh, and a large chunk of soft flesh was forcefully ripped off.

Following closely behind were the second and third ones!

The flying ants grazed past its eye socket, their sharp mandibles cutting open a deep and long wound. Crimson fresh blood immediately gushed out, blurring half of the Anteater's eye.

"Awooo! ~"

A piercing, excruciating pain struck, and the Anteater suddenly let out a wild roar that shook the forest.

These damn bugs actually managed to injure it!

The Anteater was completely enraged. Its iron-hook-like sharp claws swept fiercely in front of it, and instantly a large area of E-grade flying ants were hit, crashing down in a flurry.

Yet how fast were the D-grade flying ants? With a slight flutter of their wings, they dodged at an extremely tricky angle.
