79: Chapter 79 A Great Harvest!

"I once dreamed of traveling the world with a sword in hand, to see the prosperity of the world!"

The G-Wagon's deep engine roared incessantly. Fatty, with one hand on the steering wheel, sang loudly while shaking his head, his tune off by a mile, yet he sang with exceptional devotion.

Sometimes Chen Ze really admired Fatty; this guy seemed to always be happy, with nothing to worry about.

"Fatty? Do you still have any family or anything?"

Chen Ze leaned back against the seat, lit a cigarette, and spoke slowly.

"Yeah! I'm only in my 20s, my parents must still be around!"

"Then why have you never mentioned them?"

"They're back in our hometown, definitely not in the same region as us, so there's no point in mentioning it!"

Fatty's singing paused, he turned his head to look at Chen Ze and continued.

"What's wrong, Brother Ze? Are you missing your family?"

Chen Ze looked out the window, his eyes calm, and shook his head in silence.

"They're all dead. I've been an orphan since I was little."

The words fell lightly, and the car instantly went quiet.

Fatty's singing came to an abrupt halt; for a moment, he didn't know what to say.

"Um… sorry, Brother Ze!"

"It's fine, I'm used to it!"

Chen Ze threw the half-smoked cigarette butt out the window.

"When the full Dragon Country region opens, try to see if you can contact them. If you can find them, we'll bring them over together."

After saying this, he turned the stereo volume to the max, and suddenly, the melodious song rang out across the wilderness.

"Di-li-li-li, di-li-li-li, waiting, di-li-li-li, di-li-li-li, da-da…"

It took the two of them about half an hour to drive the ten-kilometer distance.

To avoid disturbing the Ant Swarm, they deliberately took a long detour, which wasted quite a bit of time.

"Brother Ze, I think I see the uncle's Fortress!"

Following the direction of Fatty's finger, Chen Ze soon discovered a strangely shaped building.

It was a durian magnified countless times!

At this moment, at the very top of the durian fortress, two E-grade fully automatic crossbows were still constantly rotating and calibrating, scanning the surroundings back and forth, searching for traces of the Ant Swarm.

The ground around the base of the Fortress was almost stained dark green, with large, sticky, foul-smelling traces spread out—those were all the blood drained from the Mutant Ant.

Chen Ze's gaze swept over the ant corpses scattered haphazardly on the ground; a rough calculation in his mind showed at least thirty or forty of them.

Without exception, all those stiff, shriveled corpses had crossbow bolts the thickness of a little finger embedded in them. Some pierced through their heads, others were nailed firmly into vital chest or abdominal areas; every single arrow had accurately hit a lethal spot.

"This E-grade fully automatic crossbow really is a major killing weapon!"

Chen Ze sighed in admiration and continued to look into the distance.

He noticed that there were no traces of the living Ant Swarm near the Fortress. At the end of his line of sight, only a few huge mounds of earth, four or five meters high, were raised. The soil on the surface of the mounds would occasionally loosen and bulge slightly, with fine sand cascading down.

"Brother Ze, could those beasts have all burrowed underground?"

Fatty whispered.

Chen Ze didn't speak, just nodded in response, and at the same time sent a message to the uncle.

Shanghai Li Yunlong: "Brother, we've arrived!"

Duan Linhai had been guarding the system panel, just so he could see Chen Ze's message the moment it arrived.

"So fast?"

He muttered, hurriedly observed his surroundings, and immediately spotted the two young men not far away.

I didn't expect Li Yunlong to be so young!

Through their previous online communication, the impression Chen Ze had left on him was always steady, decisive, and meticulous in his actions.

He carried an air of worldly experience, a seasoned and heavy manner that only middle-aged people had. He had subconsciously assumed the other party was at least thirty years old, never expecting him to be a young man in his early twenties.

Duan Linhai didn't dare to delay at all and hurriedly replied.

40-year-old uncle with two kids: "Big Boss, those ants have all burrowed underground. I'll open the door for you right now!"

The durian fortress was different from ordinary houses; it had no side entrances. Rather than calling it a door, it was more like a skylight opened in the dome.

Chen Ze saw from afar a middle-aged man poking half his body out, so he crept over lightly.

"Are you Li Yunlong?"

Duan Linhai said in a low voice.

Chen Ze nodded.

"Let's go inside first!"

Following the stairs down into the interior of the durian fortress, Chen Ze discovered that the space of the entire Fortress was actually not small.

At this moment, two half-grown children were staring at him without blinking.

"Xiaolong, Xiaoyao, hurry and greet your uncle! This is our savior, Li Yunlong!"

Duan Linhai gently pushed the backs of the two children, his tone gentle.

"Hello, Uncle!"

"Thank you, Uncle!"

The two children immediately spoke up. The older brother, Xiaolong, even bowed very respectfully; it was an angle Chen Ze had only ever seen in Japanese adult films.

"We're all our own people from now on, no need to be so polite!"

Chen Ze said.

In comparison, Fatty seemed much more composed in this kind of situation.

This guy didn't know where he pulled out two bags of White Rabbit creamy candies and stuffed them into the children's hands.

"This was prepared for you by Brother Ze in advance, don't be polite, just take them."

Chen Ze coughed dryly to hide his embarrassment, and then continued.

"Brother, hurry up and pack your things; we'll be leaving here shortly."

"By the way, my name is Chen Ze, and this is Wang Dun; you can just call him Fatty."

Duan Linhai immediately spoke upon hearing this.

"Everything is packed, we can leave anytime!"

He paused and continued.

"Although I'm a bit older, my life was saved by you. If you don't mind, I'll call you Boss from now on!"

Chen Ze waved his hand, indicating he didn't care about titles, and casually tossed the f-grade backpack to Fatty.

"Help Brother pack his luggage into the backpack! I'm going to go collect the corpses of those Mutant Ant first!"

"Alright!"

Once out of the Fortress, Chen Ze immediately felt much more relaxed.

Just a moment ago inside the Fortress, Duan Linhai kept calling him a savior, with excessively thorough manners. The two children were also timid and cautious. The whole family held him in too high regard, being restrained and polite everywhere, which actually made him feel quite uncomfortable all over.

"I guess it'll be better once we get to know each other a bit more."

Chen Ze muttered.

He crept down the durian fortress, not daring to make the slightest sound, for fear of disturbing the Ant Swarm lurking under the mounds in the distance.

He soon arrived at the place where the ant corpses were gathered.

He reached out to grab the arrows, lifting the ant corpses along with them.

[Ding, detected E-grade arrow * 1, E-grade beast core * 1, collect?]

"Collect!"

[Ding, you have obtained E-grade arrow * 1, E-grade beast core * 1]

The Mutant Ant still only dropped beast cores; as for tendons or meat, there was no prompt at all.

It was understandable when you thought about it. Ants, even after mutation, were only the size of a fist. Apart from their shells and internal organs, where would those materials come from?

He worked nimbly, processing the ant corpses one by one, and system prompts rang out in his mind one after another.

A few minutes later, Chen Ze had completely "cleaned up" the surroundings, ensuring not a single one was left behind.

"Good heavens, a full 36 E-grade beast cores! This time we really hit the jackpot!"
