37: Chapter 37 Killing E-level Mutant Zombies
At this very moment, the regional chat channel had already exploded with activity.
Maruko Loves Fishing: "Wahahaha, Big Brother Li Yunlong has taken another regional announcement!"
All-in is a Wisdom: "What's going on? I can't even finish killing the F-Class Zombies outside my place, and Big Brother is already farming E-Class Mutant Zombies?"
Hajimi's Motorized Soldier: "Could this guy have gotten the protagonist template? I'm so envious, jealous, and hateful!"
Fatty is the Coolest: "It's Big Brother Li Yunlong again! Brother, you're awesome! Brother, you're domineering!"
I Have No Lighter: "Big Brother, please keep me! Don't look at me like I'm a guy; I'm proficient in singing, dancing, and playing instruments. As long as you say the word, I'll head over tonight!"
The chat channel kept getting more off-topic, but basically every single message revolved around Chen Ze.
On Chen Ze's side, he naturally had no time to pay attention to any of this.
That last shot not only killed the E-Class Mutant Zombie directly, but also wiped out more than half of the surrounding common mobs.
Three or four glowing orbs of light suddenly appeared around the Blockhouse.
"How come there are only two white ones and one cyan one?"
Chen Ze felt slightly disappointed.
Based on his own experience and the information gathered from the chat channel, the white light orbs seemed to be the lowest-tier rewards, usually containing F-Class items or even non-graded items, while the cyan ones were of a slightly higher tier and should guarantee at least F-Class items.
"Ptui! Such a huge lump, and it didn't even drop a reward? What a piece of trash!"
Chen Ze cast a resentful glance at the Brute Force Zombie.
Just then, Wang Yalan seemed to notice something unusual. She rubbed her eyes, pointed at the Brute Force Zombie's massive corpse, and asked with confusion.
"Mr. Chen, am I seeing things? How come I see the big guy's belly glowing?"
"Glowing?"
Chen Ze was a bit puzzled, then looked in the direction she was pointing.
Sure enough, a faint light was flickering beneath the Brute Force Zombie's bloated belly. He hadn't noticed it before entirely because the guy's body was just too huge and blocked his line of sight.
"It's blue! It's actually blue! Hahaha, this is a higher-tier light orb!"
In his joy, Chen Ze instinctively reached out to wrap his arm around Wang Yalan's waist, gently pulling her into his arms.
"Thanks to you, otherwise I wouldn't have found it. You really are my lucky star!"
Wang Yalan was caught off guard, letting out a low, muffled sound as her entire body pressed against Chen Ze.
Feeling his sturdy physique, her cheeks instantly burned, and her heartbeat involuntarily accelerated sharply.
"He... he is going to make a move on me? But what about all those zombies outside?"
"Also, I haven't showered in two days. Will he dislike me for smelling?"
In that split second, Wang Yalan's mind was in a chaotic jumble, with all sorts of messy thoughts flooding in.
Her body tensed up subconsciously, and she didn't know where to put her hands. Her fingertips curled slightly as she silently waited for Chen Ze's next move.
Fortunately, Chen Ze was only excited for a moment and released her after a brief embrace.
The sudden release of the embrace made Wang Yalan breathe a huge sigh of relief, and her tensed body slowly relaxed.
She raised her hand to lightly cover her cheek, hiding her blush, and laughed at herself inwardly for overthinking.
But when she secretly looked at Chen Ze, she found that his eyes were completely fixed on the blue light orb, and he hadn't noticed her reaction at all.
"This guy! What is he doing!"
She complained silently in her heart, feeling a bit relieved, yet seemingly a bit expectant as well.
"Yalan, get ready to clear the mobs. We're going to collect the loot!"
Chen Ze's voice broke the brief silence.
Wang Yalan was a bit confused. Wasn't it agreed that they would stack passives? Why did he change his mind?
"We're not stacking passives anymore?"
"There are too few mobs left. Even if we stack until dawn, it would only add at most a hundred or so durability points. It's too slow!"
Chen Ze grinned and continued.
"Instead of dawdling for half a day, it's better to finish killing them early and see what treasures are rewarded!"
Seeing Chen Ze's eager appearance, Wang Yalan couldn't help but cover her mouth and chuckle, then replied.
"Okay! I'll listen to you!"
The remaining zombies were all common-grade, with only twenty or thirty left. To save bullets, Chen Ze couldn't even be bothered to use the arisaka type 38 rifle. He squatted in front of the first-floor observation window and used the f-class tang dao to hack away, stubbornly grinding the rest of the zombies to death.
In fact, with his 3D attributes, as long as he had some foundation in martial arts, he should have been able to handle them easily with a knife, even without the cover of the Fortress.
Unfortunately, Chen Ze was just a food delivery driver before. If you asked him to outsmart a security guard, that might work, but martial arts? He really didn't know any!
"Finally finished killing them!"
Chen Ze rubbed his sore shoulders.
Through the recent battle, he finally experienced the hardships of an ordinary person killing zombies.
He had an f-class tang dao, a sturdy Fortress, and full attributes as high as thirty points, yet it was still this exhausting. No wonder the mortality rate was so high!
Putting away his thoughts, Chen Ze called out to Wang Yalan.
"Let's go, let's go check out our rewards!"
Pushing open the heavy iron door, the two stepped out of the Blockhouse. Not far away, the Fortresses of several other survivors were still in battle, and the sounds of men roaring could be faintly heard.
"Brother Chen Ze! You guys are still alive?"
The one who spoke was the family of three that Chen Ze had helped last night.
The man was holding a bloody axe, his body and face covered in filthy blood, and he was staring blankly in this direction. It looked like he had just finished killing his zombies.
"Can you talk properly? Mr. Chen is so powerful, how could he die?"
The man's wife was equally disheveled. She reached out and grabbed his ear directly, then quickly squeezed out a smile.
"Mr. Chen, my husband doesn't have a filter when he speaks. Please don't take it to heart; he saw that big guy and was scared silly!"
The man also nodded hurriedly, expressing his apology.
Chen Ze smiled and waved his hand, indicating he didn't mind, and asked casually.
"Are you still managing to handle it?"
"It's alright. By the way, Brother, thank you for reminding us yesterday. Otherwise, our family of three would probably have died long ago!"
The man gave Chen Ze the highest martial arts etiquette from a distance, cupping his fists.
His wife saw this and glanced at the man, seemingly scolding him for being too immature, while she herself pulled her little daughter to bow deeply.
"Thank you, Mr. Chen!"
"Thank you, Big Brother Chen!"
Chen Ze looked at the little girl's snow-white dress, and his heart warmed.
Yes, even though order had collapsed and zombies were running rampant, the purity and gratitude in people's hearts had ultimately not been completely extinguished.
He had always warned himself not to be a pointless saint, and not to drag himself down for unrelated people.
But facing this couple who thanked him sincerely, especially the child with clear eyes like a blank sheet of paper, all his defenses crumbled a little in an instant.
"We're all neighbors, no need to be so polite!"
Chen Ze replied, feeling his mood lighten considerably.
"Let's go, Yalan, let's go see what treasures the zombies dropped for us!"
