46: Chapter 46 The Handsome Kun Team

Guo Changzheng was dead, and all the supplies in his system space had burst out. Chen Ze waved his hand and collected them all into his own backpack.

There were quite a few upgrade materials; he had over 70 units of both stone and wood, and steel had even reached 120 units, though unfortunately, they were all F-grade.

As for the rest, aside from some food and an F-grade crossbow, there wasn't even a single item with a grade, let alone any rare items.

Chen Ze understood; perhaps this was the true reality for the vast majority of ordinary survivors.

He held his arisaka type 38 rifle. Starting with a top-tier rifle and having a medal to increase drop rates, that was how he had managed to accumulate several high-grade pieces of equipment.

Ordinary survivors not only encountered fewer zombies, but their drop rates were also nowhere near as high as his. Over these past two days, if they could get even one piece of graded equipment, they would probably consider themselves incredibly lucky.

Just as he was pondering this, Chen Ze suddenly perceived a set of extremely messy footsteps.

Since his overall attributes had greatly increased, not only had Chen Ze's strength become more terrifying, but his vision and hearing had also been fully enhanced; he could hear an ordinary person walking from over ten meters away with perfect clarity.

He turned his head to look outside the warehouse gate and saw seven or eight men walking towards him from not far away. They were chatting and laughing, and at a glance, they didn't look like ordinary survivors.

Chen Ze frowned slightly, and a judgment formed in his mind.

These people were, nine times out of ten, the subordinates that Liang Kun had sent to pick up Guo Changzheng, just as he had mentioned.

The group outside was getting closer and closer to the warehouse, and their conversation gradually became clearly audible.

"Brother Jun, where exactly is that guy surnamed Guo? Counting this one, this is already the fourth warehouse we've checked!"

The burly man walking at the very front, carrying a thick steel pipe on his shoulder, was called Brother Jun.

Upon hearing this, he raised his hand and rapped the talkative lackey on the head twice with his knuckles.

"You're the only one who talks so damn much!"

After saying this, he wiped the sweat from his forehead, shielded his eyes from the sun with his hand, and squinted towards the warehouse, a greasy smile curling at the corner of his mouth.

"Brother Kun said that Guo Changzheng's team has seven or eight women, all respectable women from before the apocalypse. As long as we can bring them back safely, after the boss picks who he wants, won't we brothers be next in line to pick?"

The lackeys beside him all perked up upon hearing this, lecherous smiles appearing on their faces as they chimed in one after another.

"That's right, that's right, Brother Jun always sees further than we do!"

"Follow Brother Jun, and there's meat to eat!"

The group chatted and laughed as they walked, and in the blink of an eye, they reached the main entrance of the warehouse. As soon as they glanced inside, the playful smiles on their faces instantly froze.

Those were five or six corpses!

Most horrifyingly, one of them didn't even have a head, and the half-body was still gushing blood; it was obvious they had just died recently.

"Holy shit! Dead people, so many dead people!"

One of the lackeys spoke up in a panic; the horrific scene scared him so much his legs went weak, and he stumbled back several steps.

This retreat was a disaster; his back slammed hard into Brother Jun behind him with full force, causing Brother Jun to lose his balance and fall over completely, sending the thick steel pipe he was carrying on his shoulder rolling far away.

"Fuck your mother, you bastard, are you a fucking idiot!"

Brother Jun scrambled up from the ground in a sorry state, covered in dust, and raised his foot to kick the panicked lackey.

"Have you never seen a dead person before, you fucking moron? Acting like a complete idiot! Always making such a racket!"

The lackey stumbled back from the kick, shrinking his neck in fear, and hurriedly waved his hands in defense.

"No... no, Brother Jun, stop kicking, that person inside died so miserably, his head is just gone, and blood is still flowing all over the floor, it's really terrifying to look at."

The rest of the lackeys all cowered to the side, glancing timidly into the warehouse, none of them daring to take even half a step forward.

Brother Jun rubbed his sore lower back, bent down to pick up the steel pipe, and gripped it tightly. While he was cursing aloud, he was actually feeling a bit panicked inside.

But just thinking of the mission Liang Kun had entrusted to him and the promised rewards, he forcibly suppressed his fear and lifted his eyes to look into the warehouse.

The warehouse was empty, with seven or eight women huddled in a corner; many of them still had tear stains on their faces, clearly having just been crying.

And in the very center of the warehouse, a young man in his twenties stood steadily.

The youth had an upright, slender figure, and his clothes were clean and tidy, completely out of place with the blood and ruin covering the floor.

He let one hand hang loosely at his side, holding a Tang dao that gleamed with a chilling light. Blood droplets remaining on the blade slowly dripped down, hitting the pool of blood on the floor with a faint ticking sound.

Despite his slender figure, he exuded an aura of calm and chilling intensity. Standing quietly amidst the corpses and blood, his eyes were indifferent and ripple-free, showing not a hint of panic.

Brother Jun felt his throat go dry and swallowed unconsciously before asking tentatively.

"Um, is there someone here named Guo Changzheng?"

He didn't dare to shout arrogantly; the young man's aura was too strange, and the corpses strewn about the floor made him wary, afraid that he might accidentally kick an iron plate.

The women in the corner of the warehouse shuddered in fear, all lowering their heads, not daring to answer for fear of bringing trouble upon themselves.

Only Chen Ze swept his indifferent gaze over the group at the door, a faint, imperceptible sneer slowly curling the corner of his mouth.

It seems these people don't know what Guo Changzheng looks like. Well then, I'll play along with these clowns and see if I can fish for some information.

"Are you Liang Kun's subordinates?"

Chen Ze asked.

Brother Jun was slightly taken aback upon hearing this. His tense state instantly relaxed significantly, the wariness on his face vanished, and he instead put on an overly familiar demeanor.

"Holy shit, brother, it really is you!"

He completely lowered his guard and strode into the warehouse with the thick steel pipe on his shoulder. The lackeys behind him also breathed a sigh of relief and followed him through the entrance, their eyes scanning the women in the corner with unbridled lechery.

"I really didn't expect it, brother, you're so young. Just hearing the name, I thought you had to be fifty or sixty!"

As Brother Jun spoke, he stepped forward boorishly, making a move to drape his arm over Chen Ze's shoulder.

Chen Ze shifted his body slightly, dodging the reaching arm without a change in expression.

Brother Jun missed, and anger flared in his heart, but thinking of the terrifying aura this person had just displayed, he swallowed it back down.

You bastard! Still acting high and mighty with me?

Once we get back to Brother Kun's Fortress, even if you have some skills, can your status really be higher than mine, a squad leader? I'll definitely deal with you then!

Brother Jun cursed inwardly, but he didn't dare show it on his face, instead putting on a polite smile.

"Ahem, Brother Changzheng! Are those women you mentioned all here?"

"Eh? By the way, why did so many people die here?"

Brother Jun asked the question that had been puzzling him.

"Before you arrived, I encountered some trouble!"

Chen Ze said indifferently.

He carried the Tang dao in his hand, passing by Brother Jun and the others one by one. While it appeared he was just pacing casually, his eyes were actually sweeping rapidly over everyone, silently observing the group's weapons and positioning.

A few thick steel pipes, a few rusty short blades—the weapons were crude, and their combat capability was weak; in his eyes, they posed no threat at all.

"Damn, Brother Changzheng, you really did it!"

Brother Jun exclaimed, his face full of amazement upon hearing this.

He glanced sideways at the headless corpse on the floor with its clean-cut wound, clicking his tongue in secret.

No kidding, to be able to cleanly and decisively sever a human head with one strike, without the slightest hesitation—what kind of terrifying brute force and skill must that take?

In the chaotic apocalypse, anyone with such hard power was a ruthless character. Even if the other party had a cold personality and a bit of arrogance, they were definitely worth befriending and should not be easily offended.

Brother Jun immediately suppressed all his inner annoyance and plastered a smile on his face.

"Brother Changzheng is truly a god among men. With such skills, once you are under Brother Kun, you will surely have limitless achievements in the future. When that time comes, please don't forget your brother here!"
