13: Chapter 13 A Bountiful Harvest

Chen Ze excitedly unfolded the animal skin and examined it carefully.

He saw that the image on the animal skin had changed; the central area had switched to an extremely simple cylinder shape, with a bright red pentagram on top of it.

"This must be my location."

Chen Ze tried moving around inside the Blockhouse, and sure enough, the pentagram changed its position as he moved.

Not only that, but when he walked to the edge of the Blockhouse, simple sketches of the surrounding buildings gradually appeared within the visible range on the map.

Small red dots and small yellow dots appeared one after another.

"The red dots are humans, so the yellow dots must be zombies."

After figuring this out, Chen Ze immediately liked the animal skin in his hands even more.

With this animal skin that acted like a detection radar, his chances of survival in this dangerous apocalypse had undoubtedly increased significantly.

"Not bad, not bad, truly one step ahead, every step ahead!"

Chen Ze felt fortunate once again; if it hadn't been for randomly getting the Blockhouse, he might already be dead under zombie claws by now, let alone obtaining such a treasure.

Clenching his fists, Chen Ze felt that his destiny seemed to have begun to slowly rewrite itself.

With the animal skin in his possession, he didn't forget his agreement with Fatty and immediately posted a request to purchase weapons on the Trading House.

Purchasing weapons: offering 100 survival coins for a tachi, Tang dao, or any other long-handled weapon. If you have any weapons from this world with levels, private message me; the price is negotiable.

The posted message was like a stone dropped into the ocean; for a full half hour, Chen Ze didn't receive any replies or trade requests.

"At this hour, most survivors are probably still fighting for their lives against zombies. Even if someone really possesses such a weapon, they are likely unwilling to part with it."

Chen Ze sighed and looked off into the distance.

Only then did he realize that, unknowingly, the horizon had begun to pale, and soft light, like fine threads, was slowly seeping into the apocalypse-ridden land that had been shrouded in darkness for so long.

"Awooo!" "Awooo!~" ... The rising and falling howls of zombies seemed particularly abrupt as the first light of dawn appeared.

"Why have these guys suddenly gone berserk?" Chen Ze frowned slightly.

But the scene that followed instantly made his jaw drop.

He saw those zombies immediately emitting large amounts of white smoke after being hit by the sunlight, their body tissues beginning to disintegrate rapidly.

Within just a few breaths, all the zombies turned into white smoke and dissipated.

Even the ones that had been killed beneath the Blockhouse were the same; they had completely vanished without a trace, leaving behind only a few misty orbs of light.

Chen Ze swallowed hard. At this moment, he no longer felt his previous smugness; instead, it was replaced by a deep sense of awe for this alien world.

"Damn it, what kind of terrifying power can annihilate these man-eating monsters in an instant!"

Habitually, he reached into his pocket and was surprised to actually feel his yellowed, paint-chipped Huawei phone.

There was naturally no signal, and checking the time, it was exactly six o'clock.

Chen Ze hadn't expected that the schedule of this world would be the same as Earth's.

He unfolded the animal skin and discovered that the dense cluster of small yellow dots on the map had completely vanished at some point.

"It really is just as the mechanical voice said; the invading monsters only appear at night."

Convinced there was no more threat, Chen Ze decided to step out of the Blockhouse.

"It's time to check the loot."

"Clack! Clack! Clack!" The heavy iron door opened, and Chen Ze stepped out, setting foot on the soil of this alien world for the first time.

Perhaps the sound of the iron door opening was too piercing; he felt that as soon as he stepped out of the Blockhouse, several gazes were immediately cast in his direction.

Chen Ze looked around and discovered that in a house not far away, a family of three was staring straight at him; it was the family he had warned last night.

Seeing Chen Ze look over, the man immediately wore a look of gratitude and spoke.

"Brother, thank you for last night! Without your warning, our family wouldn't have survived the night."

"Hmm!" Chen Ze just nodded in response to the man's thanks.

Human nature is complex, and he didn't want to have too much contact with this family of three; who could guarantee that they didn't have malicious intentions toward him?

The man seemed to sense Chen Ze's wariness and didn't say anything more, simply pulling his wife and child back into the house.

"Honey, why does that Chen Ze look so cold?" the woman asked, a hint of disappointment appearing on her face.

In truth, the reason they had taken the initiative to express gratitude was because they had some ulterior motives of their own.

Chen Ze had a gun, and if they could befriend such a big shot in this apocalypse, their chances of survival in the future would naturally increase significantly.

The man shook his head helplessly.

"Forget it, it's clear he doesn't want to interact with us. Let's not provoke him in the future. In this apocalypse, everyone has their own considerations; we just need to survive."

The woman peered out the window for a long time, finally sighed, and said nothing more.

Chen Ze had no mind to care about what that family of three was thinking; his attention was currently focused on those misty orbs of light.

"Let me see what kind of good stuff the zombies dropped."

Chen Ze walked quickly toward the orb of light closest to the Blockhouse, crouched down, and reached out to touch the object emitting a soft glow.

In an instant, a line of information appeared in his mind.

F-Rank Weapon: Tang Dao.

Item Description: A weapon with a decent design; if you have some martial arts foundation, it is enough to kill some ordinary monsters.

A weapon, the first one dropped a weapon directly!

Chen Ze was exceptionally happy; he reached his hand directly into the orb of light and grasped the hilt of the blade.

The moment Chen Ze gripped the hilt, a cold sensation traveled up his arm, spreading through his entire body like an electric current.

He gently drew the Tang Dao, seeing the blade shimmering with a faint cold light, the edge incredibly sharp.

"Let me test what is so special about this system-provided blade."

Chen Ze switched to holding the blade with both hands and slashed fiercely at a stone the size of a human head nearby.

"Clang!" With a crisp sound and sparks flying everywhere, a deep mark was actually carved into the boulder, and stone chips flew seven or eight meters away.

Looking at the blade again, aside from a trace of stone dust residue, there was no damage whatsoever.

"Holy crap, good stuff!" Chen Ze couldn't help but exclaim.

The sharpness of this F-Rank Tang Dao far exceeded his imagination. If it were on Earth, such a blade would absolutely be a rarity, and it would be impossible for an ordinary person like him to own one.

He caressed the blade, liking it more the longer he looked at it.

But thinking of his previous agreement with Fatty, he was instantly in a dilemma.

Such a good blade; if he really traded it away, he would truly be a bit reluctant.

"Forget it, let me check the other orbs of light first. What if I get another weapon?"
