87: Chapter 87 Bounty

After a brief exchange of pleasantries, Wang Yalan signaled for everyone to get ready for dinner.

Dinner was as sumptuous as ever.

Garlic eggplant, braised pork belly, tomato scrambled eggs, shredded pork with hot peppers, smashed cucumber salad, and West Lake beef soup!

Five dishes and one soup, perfect in color, aroma, and taste.

Most importantly, several of the ingredients were attribute fruits! All of them had been purchased by Wang Yalan from the Trading House.

"Daddy, these dishes are so delicious! They taste even better than what Mommy used to make!"

Xiao Yao said crisply.

Upon hearing this, Duan Linhai felt a slight ache in his heart.

Four days had passed since the apocalypse began. During these days, he and the children hadn't eaten anything decent at all. He hadn't expected that Chen Ze would not only save them but also be willing to bring out precious attribute fruits.

He stroked his daughter's head, his eyes welling up with tears.

"These were all given by Uncle Chen Ze. You must keep this firmly in your heart, do you understand?"

"Mm-hmm!"

Xiao Yao nodded her little head vigorously, looked at Chen Ze, and said in her milky voice.

"Thank you, Uncle! When I grow up, I'll earn money to spend on you!"

Chen Ze felt his heart melting and reached out to pinch her cheek.

"Alright~ Then you must eat well and grow up fast!"

The group at the table chatted and laughed, the atmosphere during dinner warm and lively.

However, Chen Ze noticed that, except for himself and Fatty, everyone else was quite restrained, trying their best not to touch the dishes that could increase attributes.

It seemed everyone understood the value of attribute food; they were subconsciously being modest and couldn't bear to eat too much.

Chen Ze didn't deliberately point it out. He and Fatty were the combat personnel of the Blockhouse, so it was only natural that the best resources should be provided to them first; there was nothing more to be said about it.

Feeling the effects of all the precious ingredients taking hold, with all his attributes increasing by a full five points, Chen Ze spoke up.

"I'm heading upstairs first. You all continue eating!"

Arriving on the third floor, Chen Ze lay directly on the bed and stretched out lazily.

"Oh! That feels good!"

System interface, communication channel.

Current number of people (11,001 / 100,000)

The number of remaining survivors was infinitely close to one-tenth.

LovesEatingInstantNoodles: "Has everyone eaten? I just had braised beef instant noodles. Ah, the taste was absolutely amazing!"

LaoBaSecretBurger: "The person above can still afford instant noodles? You're definitely a rich brother. I only dare to eat energy bars from the exchange now!"

InvincibleOpensTheDoor: "Then you're really miserable. At least I can still eat cat food—crunchy chicken flavor!"

It seemed the survivors at the bottom were still living very hard lives!

It was understandable; killing zombies was already incredibly difficult for ordinary survivors. Coupled with the need to upgrade their Fortress and their own attributes, they naturally had to save every survival coin they could.

If he were to say that he had just eaten five dishes and one soup, he doubted anyone in the entire channel would believe him.

Jerusalem: "Brothers, have you seen any Mutated Beast today?"

SheIsAnAncientDragon: "Buddy, that's a redundant question. Anyone who could see a Mutated Beast would probably have been digested into poop by now. Who would be able to reply to your message?"

Dragon: "I saw them. It was a huge group of E-rank Mutant Ants, pitch black, and they seemed to be chasing a Mercedes-Benz G-Class!"

TimeYearsLightYears: "Holy crap, brother, you saw it too! When I saw it in the afternoon, I thought I was hallucinating. That car had two huge crossbows mounted on it, and one shot could kill a Mutant Ant. Damn, that's too badass! [Image]"

Chen Ze clicked on the image and saw that it was indeed the scene of their previous battle.

The photo must have been taken from behind glass; the angle was just right to see his profile.

The scene shifted to coordinate 129.250, Liang Kun's Fortress.

"They're all fucking dead! Who the hell did this?!"

Liang Kun stared at the long list of grayed-out IDs in his system friend list, his rage surging to his head as he kicked the table and chairs in front of him, sending them flying.

With a loud crash, the metal table and chairs slammed heavily against the wall, deforming and bending. The jarring sound of the impact echoed through the empty hall.

The group of underlings standing in a circle instantly froze in fear. Everyone hung their heads, not daring to even breathe loudly; no one dared to step forward to speak.

This time, he had sent out five experts who all had attributes reaching 20 points—they were all his elite subordinates. He hadn't expected them to all be wiped out at once!

Just then, Liang Kun's confidant, Jinxiu Longwan Li Shuai, happened to scroll across that message in the chat channel, and he hurried forward.

"Brother Kun, look! Someone photographed that G-Class! It's exactly the same as the one Yanzi sent!"

Liang Kun turned his head sharply, his eyes filled with surging malice as he stared fixedly at the image projected by the other person.

"Good! Very good! Daring to kill my, Liang Kun's, people—no matter who you are, I will make sure you wish you were dead!"

Communication Channel.

Jinxiu Longwan Liang Kun: "Whoever knows who this person is, private message me. Reward: 1000 survival coins!"

Jinxiu Longwan Li Shuai: "You bastard, you'd better crawl out yourself! Don't think we don't know that it was you who killed Erhu, Yanzi, and the others!"

MuMaMuMaMuMa: "What's going on? What happened to the people from the Hung Hing Society?"

FrostFall: "Can't you tell? Their people got slaughtered! If you ask me, they deserved it. There isn't a single good person in the Hung Hing Society!"

Jinxiu Longwan Li Shuai: "To the person above, if you keep spouting nonsense, believe it or not, I'll rip your mouth off!"

FrostFall: "What's wrong, did I say something wrong? A friend of mine went to join you guys two days ago, and then their ID just went black. Dare to say you didn't do it!"

LiBaiIsSly: "It's most likely those guys. This bunch from the Hung Hing Society is wicked to the core. Whoever goes to join them gets all their supplies confiscated first, and then they only get an energy bar every day while having to work for them day and night. Their hearts are completely black!"

Ling Yiyi of Black Mist Cliff: "Everyone, don't provide them with any information. Boycott the Hung Hing Society, starting with me!"

The chat channel underwent a dramatic reversal. Originally, the Hung Hing Society was still offering a bounty to find someone to gather intelligence, but in the blink of an eye, the entire public screen turned into a massive scene of denunciation, with messages accusing the Hung Hing Society of oppressing survivors flooding the screen.

Chen Ze stared at the screen, having already guessed roughly what happened.

"It seems that before those five died, they must have transmitted some information about me back."

He knew clearly that while everyone on the public screen was currently indignant and boycotting the Hung Hing Society, human hearts were unpredictable in the apocalypse, and money can make the devil turn the millstone.

As long as Liang Kun kept offering a bounty, there would always be people who had seen his face who couldn't resist the temptation of survival coins and would secretly tip him off.

It wouldn't be long before they would inevitably know the exact coordinates of his Blockhouse.

Chen Ze tapped his fingertips lightly on the table, the chill in his eyes deepening.

"Since you're rushing to your death, I'll grant your wish!"
