45: Chapter 45 Guo Changzheng, Dead!
Chen Ze saw everything that happened in the warehouse clearly. Even he couldn't help but sigh.
"This old guy is really ruthless!"
A crossbow in each hand, he managed to stop seven or eight people from fleeing! If it were anyone else, they probably wouldn't have the guts to do that.
However, Guo Changzheng had provoked him time and again, and his methods were so vicious; leaving him alive would sooner or later become a major threat. This man had to die today.
Even a lion uses its full strength when hunting a rabbit.
Although Chen Ze had already broken through to E-rank and his stats completely crushed the opponent, and he had abilities to rely on, he didn't underestimate his enemy in the slightest.
He silently drew his F-rank Tang Dao, the cold blade glinting. He kept his footsteps extremely light, carefully moving along the shadows of the warehouse's outer wall, inching silently toward the warehouse gate.
Meanwhile, Guo Changzheng was still immersed in the joy of suppressing the rebellion, completely unaware that danger was creeping up on him.
"Hey, that's more like it."
Guo Changzheng's lips curled back into that incomparably hypocritical smile.
"We are one big family, and a family should stay together. When Boss Liang Kun's men arrive, I'll take you all to join them. By then, we'll be living the high life and won't have to worry about survival anymore."
Guo Changzheng feigned a kind tone, trying to placate them, but the crossbow in his hand never lowered, making his intent to intimidate obvious.
"As for that Chen Ze..."
Mentioning this name, he paused, his face instantly darkening, his eyes filled with malice.
"That little bastard won't be jumping around for much longer!"
He had contacted Liang Kun in secret earlier, not only reporting the situation at the warehouse in detail but also deliberately exaggerating and framing Chen Ze, painting him as a threat in every way.
By now, Liang Kun already knew that there was a lucky young punk on Guo Changzheng's side who not only occupied the top-tier Fortress of the Blockhouse but also possessed a rifle, a weapon with immense lethality.
Precisely because of this, Liang Kun valued Guo Changzheng as a pawn and had specifically dispatched a team of his trusted men to come and support him.
Guo Changzheng was certain that once the reinforcements arrived, a mere Chen Ze could be wiped out with the flip of a hand!
Just as he was daydreaming, a voice suddenly rang out from behind him.
"Who did you say wouldn't be jumping around for much longer?"
"Buzz!" Guo Changzheng felt a boom in his brain; his blood seemed to freeze instantly, and a bone-chilling cold shot up his back.
He froze in place, the smile on his face stiffening, his previous smugness vanishing in an instant.
The women in the warehouse also held their breath in unison, turning their heads toward the gate.
Guo Changzheng's Adam's apple bobbed violently, his hand tightening unconsciously around the crossbow. He spun around, meeting Chen Ze's icy gaze.
"It's you! How did you find this..."
Before he could finish his sentence, Chen Ze had already struck.
His formidable physical stats exploded, his figure turning into a blur as he closed in on Guo Changzheng in an instant, stopping less than half a foot away.
He unleashed his Master-level swordsmanship, the F-rank Tang Dao in his hand flashing with cold light, the blade whistling as it slashed down.
Guo Changzheng was terrified out of his wits; before he could even react, the terrifying attack had arrived.
"Splinch!" The sharp blade sliced through flesh and bone. With a harsh sound, a severed arm flew to the ground, and blood sprayed violently from the stump, painting the concrete floor a jarring shade of crimson.
"Ahhh!" A heart-wrenching scream tore from his throat. Guo Changzheng doubled over violently, his body convulsing in agony.
He clutched the empty stump of his right shoulder with his only remaining hand, warm blood gushing between his fingers. The crossbow he had been gripping fell from his hand, clattering away several meters.
"Ugh! My hand, ah!" His legs gave way, and he collapsed to his knees, his face turning paper-white in an instant. Cold sweat mixed with blood dripped from his chin, and he couldn't even form a coherent sentence, only letting out intermittent groans of pain.
The women in the warehouse were all stunned.
They never expected that Guo Changzheng, who had just been cold-blooded and brutal, controlling the entire scene, would have his arm severed in an instant.
The crowd, previously suppressed by fear, now stared at the man wailing on the ground, forgetting to dodge or even make a sound.
In the vast warehouse, only Guo Changzheng's groans remained.
"Ugh!" "Chen Ze! You son of a bitch! Ambushing me!" "You won't have a good death!"
Chen Ze looked at Guo Changzheng, who was like a dying dog, and stepped forward with a smile.
"Old man, you've messed with me time and again. I've only countered once, so why can't you handle it?"
This lighthearted remark hit home. Guo Changzheng felt a blockage in his chest; between the excruciating pain and his towering rage, he nearly passed out.
Listen to what you're saying, is that even human speech? It's clearly you who's been taking advantage of us every single time, okay? We're the ones who have always been getting hurt, okay?
He endured the agony in his shoulder and spoke with a hoarse, strained throat.
"Chen... Chen Ze, you've killed so many of my men and severed my arm... Can we just wipe the slate clean regarding the past? I promise I won't dare to provoke you again. Let's just stay out of each other's way!"
Upon hearing this, Chen Ze was so angry he laughed.
It was he who had set traps multiple times to put him to death, and now that he was at a disadvantage, he wanted to call it even? How could there be such double standards in this world?
"Listen here, Old Guo, we all choose our own paths. Since you chose to attack me back then, you should have anticipated today's outcome."
Having said that, Chen Ze raised his Tang Dao, preparing to finish him off, but Guo Changzheng had not yet given up hope of living.
His survival instinct drove him to scramble across the ground with his remaining hand and feet, moving backward with all his might, trying to get away from the god of death before him.
"Ah! Chen Ze, you can't kill me, I've joined the Hung Hing Society! I'm one of Liang Kun's men!"
"If you dare to touch me, Liang Kun will never let you off! Spare me, and I swear I'll never go against you again. I beg you, spare my dog life!"
Snot and tears streamed down his face, and the blood from his severed arm had already soaked half his body; he was in a state of utter wretchedness.
At this moment, Guo Changzheng only hoped that his association with the Hung Hing Society and Liang Kun could intimidate Chen Ze and buy him a chance at survival.
But Chen Ze's expression didn't waver in the slightest, and his wrist holding the Tang Dao remained rock steady.
He had heard clearly from outside the warehouse that this old man had used women and supplies as leverage to defect to Liang Kun, and even wanted Liang Kun to attack him.
When he struck just now, he had already prepared to completely burn bridges with the Hongxing Society and face them as enemies, so why would he stop now because of an empty threat?
"Heh! Trying to pressure me with Liang Kun? Who does he think he is?"
With a swift motion, the Tang Dao traced a blur in the air, instantly slicing across Guo Changzheng's neck.
"Thump!" Guo Changzheng's head flew high into the air, rolled a few times, and landed heavily on the blood-soaked concrete floor, his eyes still wide open.
Even in death, he couldn't understand why the young man before him hadn't hesitated for even a second before striking.
Was he not afraid of Boss Liang Kun?
Chen Ze naturally wouldn't know what a dead man was thinking. He walked over to Guo Changzheng's corpse and ripped the heart of the fortress from his chest.
"Hmm? Only a B-rank talent? What trash!"
He had originally thought that since this warehouse was so large, the talent should at least be an A-rank, right? If the effect was good enough, he could have barely managed to absorb it.
But a mere B-rank talent had too little value and wasn't worth wasting an empty talent slot on, so he simply ignored it.
