Chapter 257 Wang Meng's Wrath

Su Ze tapped his finger in the void a few times, taking a screenshot of his private chat interface with Li Xinran.

He then opened Wang Meng's avatar and sent the screenshot directly to him.

The attached message contained only five words: "Keep your people in check."

After sending the message, Su Ze closed the system panel, didn't even glance at Li Xinran again, and turned to walk toward Jiang Yuwan.

"Yuwan, let me see the list of special materials."

Jiang Yuwan acknowledged and walked over quickly, holding a notebook.

Qiao Yunge snorted softly and sat back on the sofa to read her book.

The other women also dispersed, and Yao Qing Ya comforted her in a low voice before returning to the kitchen with a worried look.

The entire Dormitory 404 returned to its previous state of busy calm.

Only Li Xinran remained standing in place.

Her face was deathly pale; watching Su Ze's actions as he sent the message and hearing those nonchalant words, she slumped against the wall, drained of all strength.

...

Third Floor, on the open ground outside the Simulation Training Ground.

Wang Meng was shirtless, holding a half-broken steel pipe, pointing at Jiang Haiqing and the others standing in a row before him.

"You guys act all tough normally, but when real trouble hits, you all turn into spineless cowards!"

Wang Meng spat on the ground, his curses echoing through the corridor.

"I puffed out my chest in front of Boss Su, swearing that the people I brought were all elites! And what's the result? Less than twenty minutes inside, and the defensive line was smashed to pieces!"

Jiang Haiqing lowered his head, his face flushing red, not daring to utter a single word of rebuttal.

The other guards also hung their heads.

"Is the Supernatural Entity's ghost sound just for show? The front row got stunned, so why couldn't the back row follow up with the Soul-Shaking Roar? The formation was a complete mess—were you going to war or just serving yourselves up as food?"

Wang Meng's throat was parched from shouting, and he turned to glance at Wang Xiong, who was standing at the edge of the line.

Wang Xiong was not standing in the group being reprimanded.

He was leaning against the wall with his head down, fingers swiping in mid-air, eyes fixed intently on his system panel, clearly distracted.

Wang Meng frowned.

What is this kid spacing out for again?

In truth, Wang Meng had always felt frustrated that his younger brother wouldn't live up to his potential.

As his older brother, he had wanted to give him a hand from the very beginning.

Wang Xiong's initial combat power was very high; if it came to a one-on-one fight, he could definitely be ranked among the strongest regular players in the entire Dormitory building.

He was originally excellent material.

With just a little training and some resources, Wang Xiong was fully qualified to become his right-hand man.

Not to mention he was his own brother, which meant there was natural, absolute trust!

But Wang Meng dared not promote him.

The reason was simple: this kid didn't have muscles in his head, but mush.

Especially when it came to women, he was unreasonably stubborn.

Before the apocalypse, Wang Xiong had always been a simp for Li Xinran, running errands for her, but he couldn't even get her to look at him properly.

After the apocalypse, he was still being played like a fiddle by Li Xinran, and even after she joined Su Ze's Dormitory, he still couldn't get her out of his mind.

That was Su Ze's Dormitory!

Any woman who moved into the 4th Floor - 404 was undoubtedly the Boss's woman.

Coveting the Boss's woman—did he have a death wish?

Wang Meng had warned Wang Xiong several times before, telling him to put those messy thoughts away.

If the Boss decided to hold a grudge, let alone Wang Xiong, even he, as the older brother, would suffer along with him.

Fortunately, over the last two days, Wang Xiong seemed to have settled down quite a bit.

Wang Meng looked at his younger brother leaning against the wall and sighed inwardly.

After a while, once this kid completely gave up that thought and cleared his head, he would arrange a position of real power for him.

By then, the two brothers would establish a firm foothold in Jinghai University together; what kind of woman wouldn't he be able to have?

Although they wouldn't match the top-tier beauty of Li Xinran, they certainly wouldn't be bad either.

Just as Wang Meng was calculating the good days ahead for the brothers working together...

"Ding."

The system notification sounded.

Wang Meng casually opened the panel and discovered it was a message from Su Ze.

The Boss sent a message personally?

Wang Meng's expression turned serious, and he hurriedly opened the chat box.

A screenshot, plus five words: "Keep your people in check."

Wang Meng clicked on the screenshot.

After just one glance, his head buzzed, and he nearly exploded on the spot.

On the screenshot were nothing but Wang Xiong's private chat logs.

One line "Xinran," the next "I've got good news to tell you."

The Merit System that had just been decided in the meeting in the corridor, which didn't even have a precise plan yet, had been immediately used by this kid to curry favor with a woman!

And it was Su Ze's woman, at that!

That wasn't even the end of it.

Looking further down, Wang Meng's gaze locked onto that line of text.

"If he doesn't want you anymore, you must tell me; I will definitely wait for you!"

Wang Meng's breathing stopped.

All the blood in his body rushed to his head in that instant, and the veins on his neck bulged.

He had been working himself to death at the front, acting as a beast of burden for Su Ze, terrified of making even the slightest mistake.

And his own brother was digging the Boss's foundation from behind!

And acting like such a damn simp! So spineless!

"Brother Meng?" Seeing Wang Meng standing there motionless for a long time with a terrible expression, Jiang Haiqing called out tentatively.

Wang Meng ignored him.

He closed the panel, slowly turned his head, and looked at Wang Xiong, who was still leaning against the wall, spacing out.

Wang Xiong was still staring at the chat interface, muttering to himself.

"Why isn't she replying... Could she really be angry?"

Just as he was wondering whether to send another apologetic message, he suddenly felt the light blocked.

Lifting his head, Wang Xiong saw his own brother standing in front of him.

"Brother, what's wrong?" Wang Xiong was stunned for a moment, not reacting in time.

Wang Meng didn't say a word; he raised his right leg and kicked Wang Xiong right in the stomach.

This kick held absolutely nothing back.

"Bang!"

Wang Xiong was kicked so hard both his feet left the ground; he slammed heavily against the wall behind him, then fell to the ground, sliding two or three meters away.

"Cough... cough!"

Wang Xiong clutched his stomach, his face twisted in pain, curling up like a shrimp.

Jiang Haiqing and the others around them were dumbfounded.

Although Brother Meng usually had a fiery temper, he was truly good to this younger brother of his; he had never hit him this hard before.

What kind of madness was he having today?

"Brother... what are you doing?" Wang Xiong raised his head, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth, his face full of shock and confusion.

Wang Meng strode over, grabbed Wang Xiong by the collar, and hauled him halfway up.

"What am I doing?" Wang Meng gritted his teeth, his voice squeezed through them, "I'm going to beat you to death today, you suicidal idiot!"

With that, Wang Meng swung his fist, landing a heavy blow right on Wang Xiong's face.

"Bang!"

A crisp sound came from Wang Xiong's nasal bone, and blood instantly sprayed out.

"Brother! You've gone mad!" Wang Xiong struggled to fight back, but he was no match for Wang Meng and was pinned firmly to the ground.

"I've gone mad? It's you who's gone mad!"

Wang Meng's eyes were bloodshot, his fists raining down on Wang Xiong like raindrops.

"I warned you a thousand times to stay away from that woman! You treated my words like wind blowing past your ears!"

"The moment we finished the meeting, you turned around and leaked the information! What do you think you are? Who do you think you are!"

Wang Xiong screamed repeatedly as he was beaten, covering his head with his hands.

Hearing this, he finally realized why he was being beaten.

"Brother! Stop hitting me! I just told her a bit of news, didn't I? What's the big deal about that!" Wang Xiong shouted while dodging.

"What's the big deal?"

Wang Meng laughed out of extreme anger, stopped his punches, grabbed Wang Xiong by the hair, and forced him to look up.

"You call that telling her a bit of news? That's leaking secrets! That's courting death!"

Wang Meng lowered his voice, roaring right into Wang Xiong's ear.

"You even dared to say you'd wait for her in the private chat? Do you think the Boss can no longer lift his blade? Or do you think my head is sitting too securely on my neck and you want to help me take it off!"

Hearing this, Wang Xiong's face changed instantly.

He finally realized that the private message he sent to Li Xinran had been seen by Su Ze.

"She... she showed the chat logs to Su Ze?" Wang Xiong's eyes widened, his face full of disbelief, "Impossible! Xinran wouldn't treat me like that! It must be Su Ze forcing her!"
