Chapter 33 Reverse Compensation? This is extortion!

Su Ze's words were light and airy, yet they felt like countless invisible needles, stabbing fiercely into the hearts of the five men led by Jiang Haiqing.

In the hallway, the tension that had been ready to snap instantly dissipated, replaced by a suffocating silence.

Smash the hallway? Wake up the zombies? Then he would just dust off his hands and go back to his room, leaving the five of them outside to face the zombie horde in the entire Fourth Floor and the stairwell?

This playstyle... is fucking dirty!

The sinister smiles on the faces of Jiang Haiqing and his group froze, their muscles twitching; their expressions were spectacular to the extreme.

They were sports students, big, strong men who prided themselves on their bravery. But they weren't idiots!

Zombies dormant during the day wouldn't attack on their own, but once awakened, they were monsters that would fight to the death!

Fighting their way back from the Fourth Floor to the Third Floor... even if they could carve a bloody path, who could guarantee they wouldn't get scratched? Or bitten?

To be injured meant infection, meant death!

And Su Ze, by only paying the price of a few pieces of scrap Iron Material, could plunge them into an irredeemable abyss!

Jiang Haiqing's chest heaved violently, his heavy breathing sounding exceptionally clear in the quiet hallway.

He stared fixedly at Su Ze; that leisurely, carefree face, in his eyes, was ten thousand times more detestable than the most hideous zombie!

"What... exactly do you want?" He squeezed these words out from between his teeth, every word tasting of blood.

Su Meier, in Su Ze's arms, had her body tensed up tightly, not daring to even breathe loudly.

She could feel the arm around her; from start to finish, it was as steady as a rock, without the slightest tremor.

This man had been in control of everything from the very beginning.

"What do I want?" Su Ze smiled.

He looked down at the charming woman in his arms, his fingers grazing lightly over her smooth back, causing Su Meier to tremble slightly.

"Since Ms. Su Meier wants a change of environment, as her former landlord, shouldn't you do a good deed and help her?"

Jiang Haiqing's fists clenched, making cracking sounds.

"Good! A fine 'good deed'!"

He laughed in extreme anger: "You can take the person!"

"But, since you want to snatch our person, shouldn't you give us some compensation?"

This was his final struggle.

Fight, he couldn't win. Wait it out, he couldn't afford to.

So he had to settle for second best, to see if he could extort some supplies from Su Ze to recover some losses, which would also serve as a face-saving exit for himself.

His four companions behind him also nodded, albeit unwillingly.

In their view, this was already their greatest concession.

"Compensation?"

"That's right, some compensation should be given."

Hearing this, Jiang Haiqing and the others just breathed a sigh of relief, only to hear Su Ze continue slowly.

"Look, Ms. Su Meier is just a weak woman, unable to carry anything or shoulder any burdens, with no combat capability."

"Taking her into my Dormitory means one more mouth to feed, and I have to divert my attention to ensure her safety."

"For me, that is quite a burden."

Su Ze paused, watching the expressions of the five men led by Jiang Haiqing gradually turn blank, and the smile on his face deepened.

"So... you dumped this 'burden' on me, you really should give me some compensation."

"After all, I'm helping you reduce the pressure on your team."

Since they were already enemies, he might as well maximize his benefits.

"..."

The entire hallway once again fell into an eerie silence.

The five men led by Jiang Haiqing were all stunned.

They stared with wide eyes, mouths agape, blankly looking at Su Ze, their minds completely blank.

Wh-what the hell? He snatched our person, and he wants us to compensate him?! What kind of robber logic is this?!

"Pfft—"

Su Meier couldn't hold it in and almost laughed out loud.

She quickly buried her face in Su Ze's chest, her shoulders shaking violently.

This man... is too bad! Bad to the bone!

"You... you're pushing it too far!"

A hot-tempered sports student finally reacted, his face flushing red with anger, the veins on his neck bulging: "I'll fight you to the death!"

He roared and was about to rush forward, but was grabbed tightly by Jiang Haiqing!

"Don't be impulsive! And keep your voice down! Don't wake the zombies!"

After saying that, Jiang Haiqing's face was ugly to the extreme. He stared fixedly at Su Ze and squeezed out a sentence from between his teeth.

"We don't agree to her leaving! And don't even think about getting any supplies!"

As long as they didn't agree, Su Meier's status as a tenant could not be revoked.

"Oh? Is that so?"

The smile on Su Ze's face faded. He casually picked up a piece of Iron Material from beside his feet and tossed it nonchalantly in his hand.

His gaze passed over Jiang Haiqing's shoulder and landed on the group of dormant zombies in the hallway.

"It doesn't matter." He spoke lightly, his voice devoid of any emotion.

"I guess if the landlord dies, the tenant naturally becomes free."

Boom!

This sentence was like a bolt of black lightning, striking fiercely at the crowns of the five men led by Jiang Haiqing!

A bone-chilling cold rushed from the soles of their feet straight to their heads!

Looking at Su Ze's calm, waveless eyes, and then at the piece of Iron Material in his hand that could be thrown at any moment, the last line of psychological defense of the five men led by Jiang Haiqing completely collapsed.

Fear overwhelmed all their anger and unwillingness.

"We... we... will compensate!"

Jiang Haiqing's body swayed, his eyes tightly shut, and he nodded through gritted teeth.

In the end, he didn't want to die!

The next moment, he pulled a pile of things out of his backpack and threw them on the ground.

A few bundles of hemp rope, a few bolts of cloth, and some inferior or even ordinary blueprints.

"Take it! Take it all! I'll... let her leave immediately!"

His eyes were bloodshot, like a beast forced into a dead end.

Su Meier signaled that she had received the system prompt that the landlord had agreed to her withdrawal.

He nodded with satisfaction and smiled slightly.

"The compensation is a bit poor, but whatever, let's leave it at that. Everyone, walk slowly, I won't see you out."

A great humiliation!

The five men led by Jiang Haiqing felt as if their faces were being pressed into the ground and rubbed repeatedly!

They ground their teeth, but didn't dare to say a single word more, turning and running away in a sorry state, not even daring to look back.

Watching their retreating figures as they fled in panic, Su Meier let out a long sigh of relief, her whole body softening as she collapsed into Su Ze's arms.

The relief of surviving a disaster, mixed with an unprecedented and strange feeling, spread through her heart.

She looked up.

Those seductive peach-blossom eyes were now staring at Su Ze without blinking, filled with complex emotions.

"I thought... you would just start fighting, or use some powerful method to beat them away."

"Why would I fight?"

Su Ze asked back, pinching Su Meier's chin and making her look into his eyes.

"Fighting carries risks."

"Even if I could win, if I got injured accidentally, wouldn't that be a loss outweighing the gain?"

"Why use such low-end methods for problems that can be solved with the brain?"

He smiled, and to Su Meier, that smile was filled with a heart-palpitating magic.

"Besides, exposing one's trump cards easily is not a smart move."

Su Meier stared at him blankly, her heart pounding uncontrollably.

This man was like a bottomless whirlpool—dangerous, yet radiating a fatal attraction.

"Alright."

Su Ze's voice interrupted her thoughts. He picked Su Meier up directly from his lap in a standard bridal carry.

"Since you are now my tenant, it's time to fulfill your obligations."

Amidst a short, sharp exclamation from Su Meier, Su Ze carried her, turned around, and pushed open the door to Dormitory 404.

The moment the sight of the supplies piled up inside the room came into view, Su Meier's breathing and heartbeat both stopped.

Her seductive peach-blossom eyes were now wide open in extreme shock.
