Chapter 261 Changing Faces Like Changing Books
Shi Yetang's beautiful peach blossom eyes widened into perfect circles as she pointed at her own nose, her painted fingernails trembling slightly.
"Me? Sleep in the hallway?"
She was Zombie Royalty!
Among the zombies, she was an existence who could summon wind and rain, commanding countless low-level zombies.
Now, after finally swallowing her pride to become a tenant for a human, she couldn't even get a bed?
Su Ze leaned back on the sofa, not even raising his eyelids.
"Otherwise?"
He took a sip from his water cup, his tone matter-of-fact.
"If any of them gets hurt, it would be a major loss for me. Having you in the room, I wouldn't even be able to sleep peacefully at night."
Su Ze said this without a hint of falsehood.
Which woman in this room didn't have a Bond effect active on them?
Even Liu Qiaofei's 'Strange Language' Bond, which seemed to have little use now, had played a huge role in the past.
Besides, who could guarantee it wouldn't come in handy when they encountered monsters of other races in the future?
Not to mention Jiang Yuwan's daily attribute points, Yao Qingya's intelligence Bond, Qiao Yunge's Burst...
Losing even one would be a massive, tangible loss!
More importantly, he didn't have the confidence to defend against a sneak attack from a member of the Zombie Royalty while fast asleep.
Even though he held her life in his hands, who knew what trump cards or methods she might have to turn the tables on him?
Risking his own life to bet on a monster's loyalty? That would be purely brain-dead.
Su Ze's blunt words took on a completely different meaning in the ears of the women in the room.
Qiao Yunge had originally felt a bit jealous about Su Ze bringing back a female zombie, but hearing this, the corners of her mouth immediately curled up uncontrollably. She ran barefoot to stand behind Su Ze and eagerly began massaging his shoulders.
Yao Qingya's hand holding the tray paused slightly. The bitterness in her eyes instantly vanished, replaced by an intense, lingering tenderness.
She knew that Su Ze had them in his heart.
Even Li Xinran, who had been shrinking by the door, worrying about gains and losses, let out a long sigh of relief.
As long as she was still useful to Su Ze and wasn't completely marginalized, there was still a chance.
Zhuang Xiaoxin and Liu Qiaofei exchanged a glance, both young girls blushing.
An Lan silently put away the dagger in her hand and walked back to the side to watch quietly.
Jiang Yuwan pushed up her gold-rimmed glasses, a faint smile gracing her lips. "Su Ze's arrangement makes sense."
"Exactly, exactly!" Qiao Yunge chimed in while massaging Su Ze's shoulders. "Darling is right. Who knows if she'll suddenly go crazy and bite someone in the middle of the night."
Seeing the room full of women instantly form a united front, Shi Yetang's teeth itched with anger.
"What do you mean 'makes sense'!"
With her hands on her hips, she didn't even bother to maintain her previous green-tea-like act.
"Even if I don't live in the Dormitory, making a delicate beauty like me sleep in the hallway in the middle of the night? The floor is so hard, and there's a draft. Is that reasonable?"
Su Ze glanced at her, his tone flat.
"Think you're not delicate enough? Then your slightly chubby look from earlier was fine. If all else fails, you can turn into an ugly woman, or a muscular hunk. Then you won't feel so wronged sleeping in the hallway."
"You—" Shi Yetang was so choked up she could barely catch her breath.
She took two deep breaths, forcing down the anger in her heart. Her eyes darted around, and she took a step back.
"Then... even if I don't live in this Dormitory, there are so many empty rooms in this building. Surely you can clear out one for me, right?"
Seeing this, Su Meier immediately swayed her hips as she stepped forward to smooth things over.
"Landlord, how about... letting Sister Tang stay in one of the empty Dormitories used for storing supplies? Those rooms are empty anyway, and she can make do for the night with a blanket."
Shi Yetang nodded quickly. Although sleeping with supplies was a bit degrading, it was still better than sleeping in the hallway.
"No."
Su Ze refused cleanly and decisively, without a fraction of a second of hesitation.
"What if she steals from us in the middle of the night, remotely trades our supplies to her accomplices outside, and then pats her butt and runs away?"
Shi Yetang's eyes widened, her face full of disbelief. "Me? Steal your supplies? I, the grand..."
"Enough, I already said my arrangement makes sense." Su Ze interrupted her, tapping his fingers twice on the coffee table.
"Then tell me what the reason is!" She glared at Su Ze defiantly.
"Having you sleep in the hallway outside 404: first, there's a main door separating us, keeping us safe; second, there are security cameras in the hallway, so I can see your every move at any time; third..."
Su Ze paused, a playful smile playing on his lips.
"Sometimes monsters wander around outside the hallway and make a lot of noise. You can clean them up while you're at it, so they don't disturb everyone's sleep. It kills multiple birds with one stone. Perfect."
Dormitory 404 fell into an eerie silence once again.
Qiao Yunge let out a snort of laughter and quickly covered her mouth.
Su Meier also covered her red lips with the back of her hand, her shoulders shaking with laughter.
Shi Yetang was completely dumbfounded.
Fine, she wouldn't stay in the Dormitory, and she could tolerate not being given an empty room.
But making her sleep in the hallway was not just to prevent monsters from being noisy, but also to have her work part-time as a security guard? Guarding the door? And clearing out trash mobs along the way?
She, a member of the proud Zombie Royalty, was being treated like a watchdog in this crappy Dormitory building?
"You're bullying this zombie too much!"
Shi Yetang completely broke down. Her originally fair skin was instantly covered with a layer of blue-gray zombie veins, and her pupils faintly turned a dangerous dark red.
"Su Ze! Don't think that just because you've become my landlord, you really have me cornered! If you push me too far, the fish will die and the net will..."
"One-click ki—"
Su Ze sat on the sofa, not even changing his posture, only raising an eyebrow to look at her playfully.
"The fish will die and the net... net... net will show mercy~"
Instantly, the anger on Shi Yetang's face vanished without a trace.
The blue veins receded, replaced by an extremely bright, even somewhat flattering smile.
She suddenly shrank her neck, crossed her hands in front of her, and laughed so hard her body shook.
"I was just joking just now. Look at you, why did you take it seriously again~"
As Shi Yetang spoke, she backed away with movements so nimble it was almost pitiful.
"The hallway is great! The hallway is well-ventilated and cool! I'm most afraid of the heat, so sleeping in the hallway is perfect for me!"
"I won't disturb you sisters' rest. I'll go on patrol right now! I guarantee not even a mosquito will fly in!"
After speaking, she turned around, pulled open the Dormitory door, slipped out in a flash, and pulled the door shut tightly behind her.
The actions were done in one smooth, flowing motion.
Soon, the sound of Shi Yetang pacing back and forth came from the hallway outside.
The Dormitory fell quiet once again.
The women looked at each other, all finding it rather amusing.
This zombie didn't seem as terrifying as they had imagined.
Watching Shi Yetang close the door, Su Ze looked at the women.
"Alright, next, I have some free attribute points, and I plan to give you all a little boost in strength."
Out of the one thousand free attribute points obtained from annexing The Mansion, two hundred were left, which Su Ze had originally intended to use on his women anyway.
"Attribute points?" Instantly, the women's eyes lit up, and they couldn't help but look forward to it...
