67: Chapter 67 Rock Beast

Lin Mo glanced at the distant battlefield where the Tier 5 Lord, the Rock Beast, was located.

The monster's body length was at least fifteen meters; just standing there, it looked like a three-story building.

Each scale on its body was the size of a washbasin, pitch-black as ink. Between the gaps of the scales, one could vaguely see a dark red glow flowing—the energy of the earth's veins, nutrients accumulated from its thousand-year slumber.

With every step the monster took, the entire camp shuddered.

Supply crates piled by the roadside, three or four meters high and stacked by the dozens, were shaken by the tremor; like a tower built of blocks being pushed, they scattered across the ground with a loud crash.

Cans rolled everywhere, and ammo boxes slammed into the ground; a few bullets went off from the impact, creating a series of crackling pops.

A student fleeing for their life slipped on the ground, tumbling forward and hitting their face on a rock, blood covering their face.

He tried to get up, but the ground's vibration made it impossible to stand steady; he rolled like a small boat in a storm until he finally stopped after crashing into the wheel of a truck.

The wooden racks holding supplies were blown over by the wind generated by the Rock Beast's movement, sending parts flying everywhere.

A temporary sentry box was grazed and completely fell apart, its wooden boards scattering like pieces of paper.

It walked between two military trucks parked side by side, pushing both aside simultaneously; one flipped into a ditch while the other crashed into a wall, its cabin half-crushed.

Those still fleeing who were slightly closer were knocked over by the airwave. Those further away were also swayed unsteadily by the ground's vibration.

The entire camp was like a sinking ship.

And that giant beast was the iceberg that had struck and sunk it.

It wasn't even trying to destroy anything on purpose.

Yet everywhere it passed, everything was ruthlessly crushed.

A young soldier stood fifty meters in front of it, gripping his gun and aiming the muzzle at the giant beast.

He was shaking, his whole body trembling.

But he didn't run.

He had to buy time for the comrades behind him.

The Rock Beast saw him.

Just a glance.

Then it continued walking forward.

The soldier fired.

The bullets hit the Tier 5 Lord's scales, scattering a few sparks.

They couldn't even make the giant beast blink.

The Rock Beast raised its foot and brought it down; a patch of crimson was left on the ground, with no remains of the body left.

This was a Tier 5 Lord.

A mountain-like nightmare.

Three armored vehicles sped over, lining up side by side, their cannons aimed at the Tier 5 giant beast.

“Fire!”

Boom, boom, boom—!

Three 155mm armor-piercing shells hit its chest simultaneously.

The flames dissipated.

Surprisingly, they only left three white marks on the Rock Beast's chest scales.

The Rock Beast seemed to be enraged by the provocation; it let out a long roar toward the sky and then charged straight ahead.

Rumble, rumble, rumble~~~

The earth trembled.

In an instant, all three armored vehicles were turned into scrap metal.

Greater firepower arrived.

In the distance, a self-propelled artillery unit was urgently turning; its 205mm howitzer was the largest caliber weapon in the entire camp.

“Fire!”

Boom—!

The shell trailed a long flame, accurately hitting the Rock Beast's massive head.

Flames exploded, and smoke filled the air.

Everyone held their breath, staring intently at the target.

The smoke cleared.

Causing everyone's heart to sink.

The Rock Beast still stood there; a section of scales on its lower jaw was shattered, but... that was it!

The soldiers operating the artillery were all stunned, their hands frozen in mid-air, forgetting to reload.

The Rock Beast turned its head and looked in that direction.

Then it opened its mouth and spat out a mass of dark red light.

The light was like a laser, instantly crossing the three-hundred-meter distance and hitting the self-propelled artillery.

The artillery exploded.

The turret flew thirty meters into the air; when it fell, it crashed into a cluster of tents, crushing three students who didn't have time to escape.

Yuan Shoucheng stood in the distance, watching this scene, fury erupting in his eyes.

“Veterans Tier 4 and above, charge with me!”

No sooner had the words fallen than a veteran had already charged forward.

He was at the mid-Tier 4 level, surnamed Chen, and everyone called him Old Chen; he was the oldest living veteran of the Mobile Bait Post.

Holding his blade, he rushed toward the Tier 5 Lord, the Rock Beast.

“I'll hack you to death—!”

The blade light flashed, and the long saber in Old Chen's hand left a faint white mark on the Rock Beast's leg.

But the Rock Beast didn't even look down at him.

It just swept its tail.

A mist of blood exploded in the air.

Half of Old Chen's body vanished, leaving only his two legs still standing in place.

Lin Mo, who happened to catch a glimpse of this scene, clenched his teeth so hard they nearly shattered.

The gap was too large; there was simply no possibility of victory in sight.

Fighting head-on, even a Tier 5 Awakener couldn't beat this giant beast; these Tier 4 veterans were practically using their lives to stall the Rock Beast's advance.

“slaughter value, I still need a massive amount of slaughter value!”

Lin Mo turned his head, his gaze scanning the battlefield, and locked onto a target.

Hundreds of meters away, a group of veterans were fighting around a grayish-black figure.

It was an early-Tier 3 Mimic, its body a size larger than a normal human's, covered in twisted patterns; every swipe of its claws brought forth a spray of blood.

“Old Hei!”

Wu Feng let out a pained roar.

Just now, the monster had torn off Old Hei's head with a single claw swipe.

Lin Mo was instantly startled.

With God Speed fully activated, his figure turned into a bolt of golden lightning, arriving hundreds of meters away in an instant.

“Die!”

The early-Tier 3 Mimic had just struck the enraged Wu Feng and hadn't even had time to turn around before it felt an overwhelming killing intent.

It turned its head.

A golden blade light had already landed on its neck.

*Pfft—*

The head flew off, and dark red blood sprayed over ten feet high.

[Ding! Killed an early-Tier 3 Mimic, obtained slaughter value +1200 (Over-tier kill, slaughter value +100%)]

[Flowing Cloud Aurora Slash proficiency +2]

[Congratulations Host, Flowing Cloud Aurora Slash has been upgraded to LV5!]

[Learned Secret Technique — Aurora Piercing Blade]

Aurora Piercing Blade: Infuses the power of the Aurora into the weapon, causing the weapon itself to undergo a qualitative change. Once activated, weapon attack power increases by 300%, and during the duration, every slash carries an Aurora Piercing effect, ignoring 30% of the target's defense.

Lin Mo sheathed his blade and stood beside the headless corpse.

The surrounding veterans were stunned.

The thing they couldn't take down after five minutes of fighting was insta-killed by this young man in one slash?

“Lin Mo? Your strength...” Wu Feng was greatly surprised.

He knew Lin Mo had the strength to kill early-Tier 3 fierce beasts, but this Mimic's strength far exceeded that of an ordinary early-Tier 3 fierce beast.

His 22nd Squad plus two other squads—over a dozen people had been besieging it for so long without taking it down, and several people had even been killed by the monster instead.

Such a terrifying Mimic couldn't even withstand a single slash from Lin Mo just now...

A veteran with a face full of blood slapped Lin Mo on the shoulder with such force that his shoulder dipped.

“Good lad! I'd heard you were strong, but I didn't expect you to be this powerful! That slash just now was beautiful!”

The veteran's laughter was loud; he was missing a front tooth, so his laughter whistled, but his joy couldn't be hidden.

He pointed at the headless Mimic corpse on the ground and added, “This thing killed three of our men, and you took it out in one hit. Impressive!”
