70: Chapter 70 Spatial Anchors

Lin Mo clenched his fists, feeling the surging power within his body.

Second-rank, ninth-level peak.

Just one step away from the third rank.

But now was not the time for celebration.

He raised his head, his gaze sweeping across the chaotic battlefield and landing behind a collapsed bunker at the edge of the camp.

Yi Xiaoyu, Lin Sisi, Ye Zhixia, and—

Shen Yi.

Four figures were huddled together like startled little animals.

Lin Mo took a deep breath and started walking toward them.

Along the way, dark red outlines flickered in his vision.

Fifteen Mimics; some were blending into the crowd, feigning panic, while others had already torn off their human skins to fully transform into monsters.

Lin Mo only spared them a glance before looking away.

He knew he couldn't keep staring. He couldn't let his gaze linger on these Mimics, or he would reveal his secret of being able to see through their disguises and invite an onslaught from all of them.

He walked up to the bunker.

Yi Xiaoyu was the first to see him, and her eyes instantly reddened.

“Lin Mo!”

She struggled to stand, but her legs gave out, and she slumped back down.

Lin Sisi supported her and looked up at Lin Mo. Her lips trembled, but no words came out; instead, tears began to fall.

Ye Zhixia kept her head down, her shoulders trembling slightly, though it was unclear if she was crying or simply terrified.

Shen Yi also seemed a bit afraid.

She looked up, her fair face stained with tears and her eyes as red as a rabbit's.

“Lin Mo...” she choked out.

“Are you okay? You're bleeding so much...”

Lin Mo looked down at her.

Through the Eye of Sin-Eating, the dark red outline around Shen Yi was as thick as congealed plasma.

It was even more intense than the mid-fourth-rank Mimic in the crowd.

She was at least late-fourth-rank, or perhaps at the peak of the fourth rank.

Even—

Possibly the fifth rank.

A thought occurred to Lin Mo.

Unbeatable!

Although his cultivation had improved significantly, he was still only at the ninth level of the second rank.

Compared to a late-fourth-rank or even fifth-rank Mimic, the gap between them was far too vast.

Even if he used all his trump cards, he would still have zero chance of winning.

A late-fourth-rank Mimic likely had attributes of three or four hundred or more.

In terms of pure numbers, the gap between them was double, but the actual difference in performance was likely three or four times over.

It was like an adult fighting a child; the attribute gap was so large that there was simply no contest!

Lin Mo's heart pounded violently in his chest, but his face remained expressionless.

“I'm fine. It's all someone else's blood.”

Shen Yi looked at him and nodded.

“That's good... that's good...” she murmured, appearing finally relieved.

Had it not been for the Eye of Sin-Eating, Lin Mo would never have believed that the lovely, delicate girl before him was actually a monster wearing human skin!

Lin Mo looked away toward Yi Xiaoyu and Lin Sisi.

“You two, come with me.”

Yi Xiaoyu was taken aback and struggled to her feet, while Lin Sisi used the wall for support to stand, looking at him in confusion.

Shen Yi also wanted to follow.

Lin Mo raised a hand to stop her and spoke to Ye Zhixia.

“Ye Zhixia, stay here with Shen Yi. Don't move.”

Ye Zhixia looked up at him and nodded.

Shen Yi's expression stiffened for a split second before she quickly resumed her pitiful appearance.

“Lin Mo, where... where are you taking them?”

Lin Mo didn't answer.

He turned and walked toward the back of the bunker.

Yi Xiaoyu and Lin Sisi exchanged a glance and followed silently.

Once the three of them were behind the bunker and certain no one else was around, Lin Mo stopped.

He pulled two pendants from his pocket.

They were just ordinary accessories he'd found in the camp, originally worth very little, but they were excellent choices for Spatial Anchors.

He bit his fingertip and dripped blood onto the two pendants.

The moment the blood seeped into the pendants, their surfaces emitted a faint, ghostly blue light.

Yi Xiaoyu's eyes widened. “Lin Mo, what are you...”

“My blood is on these. If you're in danger, squeeze it, and I'll be able to sense it.”

He pressed the two pendants, now set as Spatial Anchors, into Yi Xiaoyu's and Lin Sisi's hands.

“You'll sense it if we squeeze it?”

Yi Xiaoyu was somewhat confused.

This was too incredible.

But Lin Mo didn't look like he was joking, so she suppressed her doubts and simply examined the pendants with curiosity.

Lin Sisi looked down at the pendant in her palm, then up at Lin Mo.

“Are you... worried about us?”

Lin Mo nodded, his gaze toward Yi Xiaoyu and Lin Sisi softening slightly.

“The camp is in chaos right now. Find a place to hide and don't come out until the fighting is over.”

Lin Sisi gripped the pendant tightly, tears nearly spilling over.

“What about you? Aren't you coming with us?”

“I have things to do.”

“What could be more important than your life?!”

Lin Mo looked at her and remained silent for a second.

Then he raised his hand and gently patted her head.

“Be good.”

Lin Sisi froze.

Yi Xiaoyu was also stunned.

Lin Mo had never done anything like this to them before.

The pat was very light, like an older brother comforting his younger sister.

Lin Sisi's tears became completely uncontrollable.

“You... you bastard...”

“If you die, I won't let you off even as a ghost...”

She cursed through her tears.

Lin Mo wasn't angry.

He withdrew his hand and turned around.

“Go.”

Yi Xiaoyu and Lin Sisi looked at him, gripped their pendants tightly, and ran toward the depths of the camp.

Lin Mo stood there, only relaxing once their footsteps had completely faded.

Just then, an earth-shaking roar erupted from the other side of the camp!

“ROAR—!!!”

The entire ground trembled.

Lin Mo whipped his head around.

Toward the main gate of the camp, where the Rock Beast was.

That Fifth-rank Lord-level behemoth was currently standing at the breach in the collapsed wall, roaring at the sky.

Its body had grown even larger, and dark red, lava-like liquid seeped from the gaps between its pitch-black scales. With every breath, scalding steam snorted from its nostrils.

Its dark red eyes had now completely transformed into burning lava.

At its feet lay more than a dozen corpses of veteran soldiers.

All of them were elites of the fourth rank or higher!
