1067: Chapter 1066 Ancient Battlefield, Battlefield Heroes

Clearly, while everyone was trapped in illusions, they had harbored ill intentions upon seeing Wu Zhankong's poor state and were subsequently slain.

"My Lord..."

Thunder Horn and the others did not defend themselves or resist; they simply lowered their heads in silence, awaiting Wu Zhankong's judgment.

Wu Zhankong's gaze swept over the crowd, his mind racing with turbulent thoughts.

Earlier, he had unleashed "Myriad Beasts Stampede" twice in succession and then forced a "Blood Sea Single Strike," leaving his mind and strength utterly exhausted.

Had he not slain those three pursuers at the last moment and used their flesh and blood essence to forcibly sustain himself, he likely wouldn't have escaped Qing Li's interception.

At this moment, he truly needed time to recover, and as for these people before him...

He looked at the unextinguished fervor and loyalty in the eyes of Thunder Horn and the others. After a long silence, he finally spoke slowly, his voice low yet clear:

"Follow me, and you could die at any moment."

"Understood!" everyone responded in unison, not a single person wavering.

The corner of Wu Zhankong's mouth twitched upward almost imperceptibly, and he immediately turned to gaze at the dusky sky.

"Then keep up."

"Yes!"

Within a certain special space, Li Wuji's true body suddenly hunched over in a fit of violent coughing, his shoulders and back trembling slightly.

After a surge of blood and Qi, a trail of crimson slowly seeped from his tightly pursed lips.

He closed his eyes to focus, and his originally stable aura fluctuated like a deep pool disturbed by a thrown stone. Ripples spread for a long time before he finally suppressed it once more.

"It is... an unexpected pleasant surprise."

Li Wuji wiped away the blood. There was no pain in his eyes; instead, a sharp glint flashed through them.

He could clearly sense that the thread of fate connecting him to Wu Zhankong had suddenly expanded several times over—this meant Wu Zhankong's strength had achieved a staggering leap.

Although the backlash from the forced transmission had destabilized his internal balance, this small price was negligible compared to the future gains.

"The growth rate of the Divine Demon Dao Marks... has actually accelerated this much."

He suddenly muttered to himself and raised his right hand. A cluster of deep, dark-gold flames abruptly rose from his palm.

The flame was completely different from a few months ago; its color was more concentrated, exuding an aura that made one's heart palpitate yet feel an urge to bow in worship.

"Luo Xiu, have you encountered some extraordinary Opportunity?"

Gazing at this cluster of God-Demon Flame, the corners of Li Wuji's mouth curled upward uncontrollably.

He knew the power of the Divine Demon Dao Marks better than anyone, but the progress had always been as slow as a stream before, forcing him to lie low patiently.

But now, the growth rate of these Divine Demon Dao Marks had suddenly accelerated, surging like a river, especially in the last few days—each flicker of the flame seemed to be burning through the barriers to a higher level.

However, the smile was quickly replaced by deeper contemplation.

He slowly closed his palm, and the flame vanished into it, leaving only a shifting, dark-gold mark beneath the skin.

"It's still not enough... this speed is still too slow."

He turned his head, his gaze falling upon the Void Realm beside him.

Several crystal-like potion bottles floated silently there. Their surfaces were etched with patterns of interwoven mithril and dark blood, and the liquids inside either swirled like galaxies or churned like lava, emitting a dangerous yet alluring aura.

After only a momentary pause, Li Wuji withdrew his gaze.

This place was no longer suitable for a long stay; the fluctuations from the backlash and the rapid growth of power might attract unnecessary attention.

"It's time to leave."

As he spoke, he no longer hesitated in the slightest.

The space around him immediately rippled like water. Light in the area he occupied began to distort and collapse, and along with his figure, it quickly became blurred and transparent.

In just an instant, that space returned completely to its usual darkness and silence, as if no one had ever been there.

Only a faint wisp of an aura remained, slowly dissipating into the Void Realm until no trace was left.

...

Deep within a certain Ancient Battlefield, low roars rolled across the earth like muffled thunder.

A pitch-black, muscular humanoid creature raised its head to the sky. Flickering golden patterns flowed across its body, as if lava were surging beneath its skin.

Every roar caused the air to tremble, and cracks spread from beneath its feet, tearing through the scorched earth like a spiderweb.

"Roar—!"

Before the sound waves could dissipate, the sky suddenly darkened.

A sharp eagle cry pierced through the clouds, accompanied by a massive shadow that blotted out the sun—a giant eagle with a wingspan of dozens of meters dove down, the edges of its wings gleaming with a metallic cold light.

Astral winds like blades whipped up clouds of dust and sand.

Killing Intent in the eagle's eyes was as solid as substance. It was one of the Four Demon Generals: Sky Demon.

"Die!"

The Sky Demon shrieked and flapped its wings violently. Countless black-steel-like feathers poured down like a torrential rain, sealing off every inch of space for evasion below.

The humanoid creature was forced to stop, crossing its arms in a block. The golden patterns flared brightly, expanding into a dazzling light barrier before it.

The feathers struck it, exploding in a continuous stream of sparks and piercing screeches.

At that very moment—

At the edge of the horizon, three streaks of light tore through the world, racing in from three directions and trailing blazing plumes of fire.

On the left wing, crimson fire surged, burning the air as it passed—that was the Flame Demon. On the right, a blood mist spread, carrying a pungent stench—it was the Blood Demon.

And directly ahead, cold Sword Qi slashed through the sky; it was the leader of the Four Demon Generals, the Sword Demon.

The three had formed an encirclement, their Killing Intent weaving into a net that firmly locked down the battlefield.

The humanoid creature's golden pupils constricted, and an inhuman shriek erupted from its throat.

The shriek was invisible yet felt substantial, rippling outward in layers, causing the three approaching streaks of light to hesitate for a moment.

Yet in an instant, the pause was replaced by even greater speed.

From the heavens, the Sky Demon dove again, claws like hooks aimed straight for the head. From three directions on the ground, the Flame Demon's fists surged with fire, the Blood Demon's hand transformed into a long whip, and the Sword Demon's fingers merged into a sharp edge—four lethal attacks closed in simultaneously!

In this desperate situation, the golden patterns all over the creature's body erupted, shining like a thousand suns together.

Instead of retreating, it advanced, shattering the earth and bursting forth against the Four Demon Generals' killing formation. With a claw that tore through the scorching air, it lunged toward the first shadow pressing down—

Striking head-on!

The humanoid creature's air-tearing claw was not blindly countering the Sky Demon blotting out the sky above. Instead, at the final moment, it twisted eerily and, from an unbelievable angle, smashed toward the Flame Demon, who was the first to break through on the left where the flames were most intense!

The flames on the Flame Demon's fist were roaring to their peak. He had fully expected this cornered beast to block or dodge, never anticipating such a suicidal counterattack.

The golden claws crashed into the crimson fireball without any pretense.

"Boom—!"

It wasn't the sharp clang of metal clashing, but a dull thud like striking leather, followed by the sound of flames being brutally torn apart and the muffled crack of something hard shattering.

The Flame Demon let out a roar of pain. The solid flames enveloping his fist and arm were actually torn apart by the golden-patterned claws, revealing the lava-like skin beneath. Now, five charred gashes deep enough to see bone had appeared, with golden patterns at the edges attempting to corrode inward like living things.
